My beloved Max passed last week, he was nearly 14yo and he definitely changed my life....for the best. He was the most gentle loving soul I've ever met and he was funny and full of quirks. Yes, we didn't travel a lot because we prefered staying home with the dogs, yes our life revolved a lot around him, expecially when he got older and needed special care but I 'd do it a thousand times again. The love we shared has no price. Godspeed Max, true love shall never be broken, I'm sure we'll meet again

Two and a half years ago we were able to adopt George, a three year old ex-racer. He was introduced to our other dog (a Rough Collie / Miniature Poodle cross then aged five) when we first went to see him and she began by telling him in no uncertain tone that she was the boss. He just shrugged his shoulders and said "OK", no problem. Within about 10 minutes they were just doing their own thing, and over a couple of weeks settled down together really well. These days they are quite attached, but very respectful of one another's space.
George is very sociable, he feels the need to say hello to everybody he meets when we are out, human and canine, and really doesn't get fazed by anything. We have been very lucky to have taken on such a well adjusted hound, he is about the gentlest most respectful dog you could wish for. In some ways it would be nice to have another but there really isn't room in our smallish bungalow.
The round trip from Cornwall to Birmingham to adopt him was well worth while.

Every day my Greys have made me smile and laugh.
I love the fact that there are people out there that care about dogs enough to make a video like this. Dogs will give you everything, all the possible love they can give, so it's up to us to make sure we care about them and love them as much as we can, even if we could never match the the amount of love they give!
And the opening lines are so true; you may not be "saving the world" but you're definitely saving their world!

Adopted Daisy in May last year,what a lovely dog who has helped me through a difficult patch.They are so rewarding to look after and after nearly 10 months I think she has he trained!!

I've had two greyhounds. I've just been to meet my third today. I've just had a year without one and life is definitely fuller and richer with one in your life. Rehome a greyhound I don't think you will regret it.

My life is my saluki..his life is my routine lol he changed my life for the better a day out is a mission a holiday is a true adventure they say ladies pack everything my saluki does!
They certainly are life changing. It’s never dull and there’s never a day goes by that Tofu (our grey) doesn’t make us laugh out loud.
They are always good to make you smile :-)

Heheh funnily enough my cat that I had before this, he died in November and I got my grey in March, he was called “sabbi” which was short for “wasabi” and so when miso came along (I didn’t name him) I felt like it was fate!!!

What a helpful and loving appraisal of the needs of our greyhounds in the context of our lives and how this might change our ways of living. This is so important as I am thinking to get a greyhound or a whippet after having many years of joy with two Italian greyhounds.
Greyhounds are wonderful 😍 they will seem huge after having iggies! Those little guys are adorable ❤️

I'm getting a grey next month and this is exactly the type of video I was looking for! So much about the care and training needs, which is great, but it's nice to get an idea of how my life will change so I can prepare for it. Have you been successful in adjusting your dogs' routines to fit your night owl tendencies? I'm the same and wondering if I need to prepare to give that up.
Yay that's exciting! congratulations! Short answer to your question ... No!!! However, it depends very much on the dog, where they will be sleeping, and the type of house you have/what your neighbours do. They may be more inclined to have a lie in if they are in the same room as you, but this is not guaranteed ;-) Mine are pretty much ready for bed about 9pm and I have to get them up later for a last trip to the garden. Some of them will happily lie in, others not, because they hear my neighbour get up at 6.15am and will start making a fuss. In the summer there is also the issue of needing to get a walk in before its too hot, so lie ins are not an option anyway. Guess I am sleep deprived pretty much all the time! but it's still worth it ;-)
As per Jill's comment, my boy tucks himself up in bed at about 9.30pm every evening.. He USED to wake me up at between 5 and 5.30am every day. After he'd settled in, (8 months or so) I decided to reprogramme him. :-) Long story short, I did it with the use of my alarm clock and now, he will happily sleep in until 7.30am each day - which works for me. I sleep upstairs - he is downstairs in the living room. (He has sleep startle so is not allowed upstairs as always tries to get on the bed) Enjoy your new pup! They are the best.
I’m a night owl too and my boy gets me up pretty much at 6.30 am without fail! I usually take him out for a quick 20 min walk, give him his breakfast and then he’s good to nap for the next 3-4 hours so I sometimes squeeze in a second sleep cos I’m lucky in that I’m self employed. He is soooooo worth it though! Best decision I ever made! I cannot express how much I love him!

Do you have any advice on boundaries? I'm interested in adopting a retired greyhound but as I'm a homeworker I have concerns about he or she developing separation anxiety due to my near constant presence in the house. The sort of thing I'm thinking about are: should I allow the dog into my bedroom while I sleep? I generally love the idea of cosying up to sleep and my dog being there with me but I understand from previous experiences in childhood that it may encourage unwanted behaviours. Any advice you can give on that would be greatly appreciated! Love your videos!
I think this is very much an individual choice. some people love having their dogs sleep with them, others prefer their dog to sleep in a separate room/downstairs. over the years I've done both and each can create issues, but perhaps of different kinds.
