Honestly, I think the reason us Europeans don't want America to be in is because 1. We don't want Americans to ruin it. and 2. Eurovision was created to unite wartorn Europe, so I feel like America would not fin in cuz of that

@@jimmym.1548 Yeah. And it was created because of that. We have other countries competing now aswell who wasn’t a part of the War. But They have been watching and supporting. Also now there is something called American Song Contest being created. So The US Will have something on their own so They don’t need to join Eurovision.

Heroes is one of my favourite songs from Eurovision , so it's cool to see it again
when she mentioned the effects she thought she had seen on america's got talent, perhaps she was talking about kseniya simonova who was on AGT recently with her sand art, but she also performed her art for ukraine 2011 and moldova 2019's staging!
I think she actually referred to an Asian guy quite a few years ago. He did a choreography in front of a screen.
Yes, Måns has five backing vocalists, even if they are not seen. Linnea Deb, Britta Bergström, Jeanette Olsson, Micke Blomqvist and Alexander Holmgren.
Linnea Deb, is also one of the song writers. She was also one of the song writers of Sweden´s entry "You" in 2013, and of Finland´s entry "Monsters" 2018.
Britta Bergström, is one of Sweden´s most hired backup singers. She was a part of Melodifestivalen´s "in house choir" (the ones who are backup in most entries) in 1996, 2003, 2004 and 2005. She also was backup singer for Sweden´s Eurovision entries in 2004 ("It Hurts"), 2012 ("Euphoria") and 2014 ("Undo"). In 2006 she did the backing vocals for Belgium (" Je t'adore") and for Russia in 2011 ("Get You").
Jeanette Olsson was also one of the backup singers for Belgium ("Je t'adore") in 2006 and Sweden in 2014 ("Undo"). She was also the backing singer for Greece in 2001 ("Die For You").
Micke Blomqvist has also been a part of Melodifestivalen´s "in house choir" for several years. He was also one of the backupsingers for the movie "Mamma Mia". He sang the backing vocals for Sweden in 2002 ("Never Let It Go"), 2003 ("Give Me Your Love"), 2004 ("It Hurts") and 2008 ("Hero").
The stage show was created by Fredrik "Benke" Rydman and David Nordström. Benke Rydman is one of Sweden´s most well known choreographers. If you ever do a reaction of interval acts, be sure to include his "The Grey People" about refugees from 2016. He also created the opening act for Eurovision 2013 in Malmö. In 2009 he, and his dance company "Bounce" created a flashmob as a tribute to Michael Jackson with "Beat It" in Stockholm.
EBU is actively involved in ASC. Christer Björkman is the "main guy" in melodifestivalen" here in sweden and has been a part of ESC for some years now and he will have a part in starting ASC up in America.

Im from the state of Hawaii and The Hawaiian Language and Culture is beautiful so Im exited to share it with the rest of the world. In Hawaii we have a big music industry from Hawaiian reggae pop to traditional Hawaiian music and Hawaiian pop. Also Native Americans in other states have there own language and cultures that will likely shine through in the contest. Then u have gospel, country, blue grass, rock, pop (Which differs around the US). The contest will likely have Latin flair in a lot of states, as well as some Asian flair as well. The list goes on I’m excited 😁
I agree with this. I think that us as Europeans only get to hear the tip of the iceberg of American music, and this it´s just rock, pop, country and hiphop, and not as much difference between the different states. There are probably a lot of artists who are really famous in the US, and in their home state, who are completely unknown in Europe. I´m really curious about the American Song Contest, and I´m looking forward to it.
I would like to hear more of different languages. In the beginning of Eurovision, all sung in there own language. But over the years, there are most in english. Sad I think.

We are so happy to keep the Us outside.. it’s the Eurovision Song Contest.. our culture differences are to big.. And if the Us entered it would be close to a nuclear war.. anything to win..
I agree that the states do *n o t* need to join eurovision-proper. the country already monopolizes media around the world and they could stand not to centre themselves in something every once in a while. even as a canadian and don’t think we’d need to be there either, but i like australia’s participation since i started watching around the time they joined so it’s normal for me, and more importantly, australians were huge esc fans even before they were in it.
the US having their own contest is growing on me though! at first I rolled my eyes bc, again, it seems like they just _have_ to be a part of everything, but I like new, original songs and state vs. state ‘politics’ could be entertaining! and I get what you mean by “how much diversity can there be in one country,” but it’s a huge-ass country. i hope we get to see cuban music from miami, polynesian music from hawai’i, new york hip hop, cajun jazz, and hopefully lots of indigenous songs from alaska, nevada, new mexico, etc. As long as broadcasters are willing to bring the diversity, not all hope is lost-that’ll only happen when country songs makeup half of the submissions 😂🙃 (and/or if it *is* diverse and americans criticize/dont 'get' it, which is a valid concern you brought up)
and btw I certainly appreciate the diverse song choices you make, but I also do like to see some of the classic/well-known/popular songs played for eurovision newbies, so like this pick as well and wanted to tell you not to worry about repeating sometimes!! :)

Not to get political, but a good few of the countries in eurovision right now, are not in europe, they're just part of the ebu, they're not much different from Australia or even America if they joined
Not really. Their culture is still closer to EU and European countries than to American culture, which is based mostly on Irish, English, Dutch or Italian heritage... Sounds from Azerbaijan are similar to sounds in Turkey or the Balkans, and so on. The connection is there.

Why not? ESC is not a contest, is having fun together. Australia take part not for winning, just for fun and coming closer. Maybe the US is afraid of getting null points, (political voting?), but who cares?

I like this song, but when I watched the semifinals and the final and the part they show in the recap is the chorus in both I was a bit over it by the win. Love hearing it again now though just need a break to appreciate it.

Americans could ruin Eurovision (even if I'm not 100% sure about that) but don't say it's Europe only since we have freaking Australia participating and it doesn't bother anyone! They have great songs so the US could also have good songs...

As an American, I actually think the US being in the ESC would have a better chance of working out than the ASC does of surviving on its own. Two big comparisons the two to support that claim:
Firstly, It's going to be very hard to find good acts from all 50 individual states. With the way the American music market works, each state will essentially be drawing from a common pool of artists. As a consequence, I would bet that you're going to have far less variability between the states, and a much higher rate of artists not actually coming from the state they represent.
That said, the US as a whole would likely be able to send a solid variety of good acts to ESC. In a way, it already has, as artists like Kalomira, Katrina from Katrina and the Waves, and Andras Kallay-Saunders were all born in the US, and artists like Laura Rizzotto lived or went to school in the US prior to ESC. I mean sure, we're probably never going to send the kind of ethnic style brought by Solovey or Nova Deca, but to be fair, neither is the UK or Australia. Personally, my money would be on Pentatonix as entry number 1, and I think they would be a solid inaugural act for the US.
Secondly, Americans don't really identify as much now with their individual state as they might have back in the 18th and 19th centuries. You might see more regionalism with college and professional sports, but even that's not cleanly cut along state boundaries. (The American Civil War is commonly cited as the time when the US began to pivot in speech and writing from being a plural collection of states to being a singular union of those states.) People move around within the US, and with ASC I think you'd end up seeing less pride in each state's victory.
Meanwhile, with a country as large as the US, it's not entirely clear what voting blocs the USA might end up in (as in, I don't think it's necessarily a slam dunk that the US would have a Sweden-Norway type of connection with any country, even the UK), and that kind of variability could be fresh for ESC. Also, the USA as a whole generally has not passed up an opportunity to beat Europe at anything since 1776! 😉
I also don't think America would ruin ESC...yet. Frankly, it's just not popular enough in the US yet for Americans to care enough to ruin it.
I strongly disagree. everything has to be fair and the 'fair' that I signify here is that everything has to be put appropriately. I mean, Brazil and Australia are not competing in the UEFA Euro, right?. and UEFA only has 53 associations. I think EBU here has to learn from their fellow European organization.
I'm so excited for there to be an American version! The states have the same relationships as different countries in Europe imo, so I think they will love to make fun of each other (I can picture it being like "oh no.. what did florida send this time??.."). And since America is a melting pot of different cultures there is a chance that they will have a good variety of genres. I saw a comment saying that Americans don't really identify with their state as much, but I would say that's not true. I've lived in both Iowa and Ohio and the people I know definitely identify with being from that state, and feel a sense of pride.
People love to cheer for their state's teams in sport, and people love singing shows. So whether they watch it to enjoy the music or to make sure their state beats the rest of them... I think it has the potential to be awesome!

America has as much culture as the rest of the world. We're not called the melting pot for no reason. Any kind of culture Europe has we also have. To say that we would somehow ruin it, when Europeans can be just as xenophobic and negative to traditional art forms and culture is a bit ignorant.
A new concept: Globalvision where everyone could compete would be interesting.
Americans will most likely ruin our beloved Eurovision. Sorry not sorry 😅
