  • There is always something fascinating in seeing human civilization destroyed, shattered to pieces. Watching familiar places abandoned. It’s like taking a look at the parallel universe, what if scenario that came to life. There is an abundance of stories of the world after some big catastrophe. And among them there is one truly astounding example. At least to me. The Last of Us video game released by Naughty Dog in 2013, directed and written by Neil Druckmann. The Last of Us takes place in the world devastated by cordyceps pandemic. Cordyceps is a fungus and in real life it only affects insects. Fungus gets into insects’ minds and literally takes control of them. Humans are safe from cordyceps influence, for now at least. But what if cordyceps suddenly evolved, mutated, and began affecting human beings too. Neil Druckmann thought about it as well. The Last of Us is considered to be one of the best video games released in the 2010s and I can’t disagree with that. I played the game from the beginning to the end four times and each time I was left speechless and consumed by my emotions, The Last of Us is an incredible journey, an immersive adventure that doesn’t let you go long after you finish the game.

I feel that the whole thing at the hospital wouldn’t have happened if they had just waiting for Ellie to wake up to ask her for consent, Marlene literally said her self that Ellie “would want this” if she was so sure of that why didn’t she just ask Ellie if that would have happened then Joel would have lost every moral grounds he had but without asking her that made Joel in the right because they were essentially killing someone without their explicit permission

They definitely should have asked Ellie before surgery.

I'm sure Marlene really knew that it's what Ellie wanted. But going through with the surgery is still incredibly hard for her. So I guess they didn't want to risk having her wake up and saying no. Because they still would've had to go through with it, but it would've weighed on their conscience even more. They have to do it, and so they convince themselves that she would want it. And they're right, but they're not completely sure of that.
It doesn't excuse it, but I get it.
