Isn’t going on holiday as a blind person like being in your back garden?

  • Isn’t going on holiday as a blind person just a really expensive back garden visit? I always used to tell myself this when I lost my eyesight, but since I have travelled the world for pleasure and making documentaries I see going to different places in a whole new way. The smell, the taste, the people, the culture it’s just beautiful to immerse yourself in it!! This is how I hike in Texas as a blind person… We did a soundscape for you guys as this is something Ollie and I try to do every single time we go away so we remember the sounds of our trip. Thank you so much to Visit Austin for the unforgettable experience

Its so nice to hear you say you still get so much out of going new places. My daughter 6 years old is fully blind, and has wanted to go to spain for so long. We have finally been able to book and go next year, shes so excited about going on a plane and shes got so many random things she want to find out, one is if the path feels the same as here. Hoping she will love it so much. Love watching your videos it helps me to help my daughter x

Even as a sighted person, I experience so much more than just views and sights when visiting foreign countries. Trust me, don’t feel like you’re missing out on too much. The smells, the sounds, the different cuisine, the atmosphere…there’s so much more to experience than what you would find in your own back garden😆

That "artificial intelligence" sounded very much like a poem by your lovely husband ;-)

To see something through someone else's eyes is the same.I never truly appreciated, And I thought I understood it.
    Until now, My mind.
Was opened up to that thanks to you lucy.
There were tremulous thoughts, Dreams and plans made, They are for sure now. This is convinced me.I need to move over seas. And explore, Perhaps I may even find love again?

Beautiful video. Has Ollie been hiding that silky smooth reading voice from us this whole time?

Ollie can speak like that. You can hear it if you check their podcast out on this very same channel.

Thanks for posting this. I'm losing vision in one eye to mac degen and even though I know for a fact that other B/VI people are out there living their best lives, I still wondered how I can enjoy the outdoors with reduced vision. It's nice seeing you out in nature, just enjoying yourself.

You need to be out in nature more where ever you are. you can have different experiences at different times of the year. I know you were in Texas, if you go to the Midwest where we have all 4 season, each of them can bring new sensations. Different parts of the country can have different plants, trees and flowers.

What apps are you using? I’d love to download them and go on a hike too!

It was Be My Eyes ☺️ I asked Be My AI to describe the scene romantically to me and it gave me the lovely description that Ollie read

@@lucyedwardsI thought those were Ollie's own thoughts, didn't think AI can make it sound so passionate and humane. 😮 AI is so good that it scares me a bit!

@@floopybooAt first I thought it's just Ollie reading what the App described for Lucy, but then I thought it was too detailed and too human so might as well those were Ollie's own thoughts. 😂 AI is good, but ain't that good(yet!)

It’s Be My Eyes ☺️ and Ollie may have read it but it was the AI’s words! I just asked it to describe the scene romantically
