      Me and my girlfriend go online to see the exact item we want from ikea. Online if you put your location and chose the Ikea you're going to you can see exactly where the item is. So I find the item location and when we go there we enter from the end near the registers. Find what we need and buy it lol.

    Another thought,
    Their shopping carts are made of plastic and not metal. This makes them very light so you keep putting stuff in your cart and your cart feels like there is nothing in it. When you have a heavy cart, people will spend less as the cart feels very full making them stop shopping as they will feel like they have too much stuff

So we flipped our store so the ladies merchandise was on the right when they walked in to get them to spend more money.

      Shade don't know what target you work at but mine is great!!! target is supposed to value it's customers & employees, they're probably the only company i've worked with who makes me enjoy working there. & i'm a cashier, we constantly get nagged on for redcards but i still don't complain that much.

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk Před 5 lety +7

      Flo I worked at Target from 2003-2007, so forgive me if my reply is long. 4 years, and I was still making less than cashier at a grocery store that was previously working at in the same town, on the same street. But I left because the customers were complete jerks, which made no sense because I know they all shopped at Target, and 98% of the time treated me nicely.
      The starting pay was like a quarter more than minimum wage at the time. Today minimum is $7.25, and I saw a sign hiring seasonal help for $12! So maybe something change. Anyway, they did a local survey back then, and it seemed that the majority of the complaints was pay related. Rather than do anything about it, they decided to defend their wages by claiming they compared them with Service Merchandise... ...a department store in a different town, that went out of business before that Target location even broke ground.
      Cashiering had a lot of problems that I’m sure you’re well aware of, so after 2 years, I went to the sales floor. Despite being a cashier, I knew where everything in hardlines went without having to look it up. But they almost always stuck me in soft lines. I didn’t know where anything went, scanning didn’t help, and they kept moving things around because decades ago marketing research claimed they’d sell more if customers were forced to look harder for an item. Then I noticed that they always stuck girls in soft lines, boys in hard lines. Pointing this out didn’t mean anything, because what are they going to do? Then there was that policy where minors got to leave at 11 (or 10, can’t remember). As a high schooler who has had to work 2am, I can understand the reason, but on a Friday/Saturday night? in the summer? after they graduated? I’ve worked 2am, only to have to go to college in the morning. Anyway, so rather than put stuff back, they would zone everything, putting things that didn’t belong in a shopping cart, even when what they pulled off the shelf belonged 5 feet away. Team leads loved them because they always had their zone done before it was time to go home, while we were stuck with tons of carts.
      And if you think working late goes with working sales floor, when I cashiered, we didn’t leave until EVERYONE was done. So I was still helping sales floor. For a couple of months I would clock in as either a cashier or sale floor, back and forth, back and forth. When I was sales floor, they let the cashiers go home once they were done. They didn’t help us. When I would cashier, they would make us stay late with the sale floor. But this back and forth meant sometimes working nights AND morning, so I would just go to bed in my work clothes, and not bother changing.
      Scheduling? They schedule you to close. So 5-10, is a five hour shift. I was getting too many hours, so I started requesting 6-10. Thing is, if 6-10 is 4 hours, and 5-10 is 5, you’re not going to get a lunch. But it will be YOUR fault if you work more than 6 and don’t take one. Unlike cashiering you are in charge of your own breaks/lunches. But the second you clock in, you are required to do pulls. No one can go on break till all pulls are done, so 7-8pm. Of course, you can’t have everyone go at once, and most people clocked in at 6, so they want to wait around till 8 anyway. You’re not going to give up a free break, by just clocking out and going to lunch. Especially since you don’t know if you’re going to be there past midnight. So you take your break, store closes, then what? Go on lunch? No one ever went on break or lunch after the store closed.
      Then there’s the calling in problem. You’ve got kids that are no call no shows, and people are all like “oh, they’re graduating,” or “oh, probably prom” or “oh, edgefest (local yearly concert)” like these people didn’t know they were going to go to this. Like “oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know I was going to graduate this year.” But I, someone who never is late, will tell the closing manager that I can’t make it tomorrow because of a surprise wedding out of town, or because MY FATHER DIED, guess who calls me when I’m scheduled wondering where I am? Seriously, how messed up is that? I could see if the team lead I told wasn’t working that day and didn’t pass along the info, but it was the SAME guy every time! I still showed up after that surprise wedding too (a few hours late). 3 hour drive both ways. But I hate how guilty they make you feel when you do ask for the next day off. 14 years and I still feel bad about missing my great uncles funeral. I didn’t know him, but I should’ve been there for my mom, plus all the relatives that I don’t even know or have memories of. There was also another relatives high school graduation, but, yes, we really didn’t know he was going to graduate that year. He didn’t the year before.

    ....Never had a problem with walking out of Target with only what I went in for or less. Easy to find what I'm looking for and get out just by making a beeline to the section I need, then to the registers. Only time I walk out with unexpected purchases is when I'm there with no plans (Often with a friend) and am open to buying myself something just for fun; and even then it's like, one, maybe two items, tops from the clearance section.

Since everything costs just a dollar, you see multiple things that you kind of need and think “it’s just a dollar, why not?” For this reason, I’ve been in there to get a few things, while going out spending upwards of $60.

      most people don’t have the resources to survive only on fresh food. the packaged foods at target are much better than almost anywhere else (sometimes aldi’s has good stuff, but it’s a shot in the dark, but i get my fresh fruit and veg from there so i glance around while i’m already there).
      it’s surprising to me that people say target is so expensive because if you want actually good food that doesn’t take forever to cook it’s pretty much either target or whole foods. i mean i guess you could buy a can of beans and some 80 cent mashed potato pouches from wal mart and get out cheaper than at target, but who wants to live like that?
      i like target because it has cute stuff for cheaper than anywhere else. it may not be as much of a draw for someone who’s older and already has everything they need, but every time i go to target i buy a can opener or a set of glasses or a scarf or a welcome mat because i need those things, want cute things, and they’re cheap.

    I went to target to buy a shirt(out of stock)...saw some nice leather jackets...couldn't decide between 3 to pick. So I bought all 3 of them cause they are not that expensive and I never regretted it. I get compliments from people thinking I got them from some high-end store.
