- In this video I'm going over the differences between the base model Polaris Sportsman 850 that I built and the Highlifter edition Sportsman 850 that Polaris sent to me and whether building one or purchasing a mud ready one is the better option for you! I feel that I also pretty much did a review on both of these machines also in this video! I hope this video helps ya'll out and as always be sure to like, comment, share, and subscribe!

Love your channel JP,im here in Canada, an always watch your videos, cant wait to see the honda build, but its awesome to see a huge brand like polaris to help out a CZcams channel, an show that they appreciate your commitment! Keep them coming JP
Thanks for the support 🤙🏻
JP , I just got to say i think you are one of the best riders I have seen out there. You definitely got some skill buddy and I love your Polaris videos.
I also get why you wanted to get back to your roots with the new Honda and i cant deny that they are some tough machines . I was a little bummed when you let the 850 go but that is coo0l you still got the high lifter and i love that machine too.
Really looking forward to seeing what you do with Ruby . Gonna be a killer bike I'm sure.
I can't wait to watch the ruby build
The rear is called a sway bar. Helps with body roll and control the vehicle under load and different conditions.
The things on back of tan sportsman are sway bars links like a truck or car help sway going around corner but with it been a mud bike u want to take them out to fix rear axle around more in mud and not get hung up as much cuz it don't let tires flex
Ok thanks for the info 🤙🏻
Its a sway bar i dont even mud ride but i take mine off it makes it climb and ride insanely good. Also tows better as long as u turn the shocks up a few clicks after removing them
Honda bulid coming in hot now though 🤙
Yessir 🤙🏻
Wish my 2021 premium had the arched a arms I paid 9,300 out the door main reason I didn’t get highlifter older body style plus I never burry mine in mud here in east tn mainly rock crawl and trail ride power steering is worth the extra $700 definitely on rocks my 2014 570 didn’t have power steering and wow night day difference after owning I’d never have one without again I got mine up to 65mph and got out of it rain out straight way
🔥🔥🔥
I built a 570 into a mud machine. Relocated radiator, snorkeled, clutch kit,2 inch lift, and 28 inch mayhems. Fun to ride. The sportsmans are not made to be modified. With creativity you can do it. Build one.
9:21 - JP those are your sway bars most mud riders take them off hence why the Highlifter doesn’t have them there mainly for fast riding to keep from having body roll and help make turns better
Ok thanks for the info 👍🏻
Hi, i would like to ask if you know the guy on 15:39 or if you know what lift kit is he running. BC i woud like to lift my high lifter too, but i don´t know witch brand to pick, if it will fit and what is needed to be done exc. Thanks for the response. Love your work, keep filming. (sorry if it wasn´t write so well, english isn´t my native language)
Hey JP - Are you running any clutch kit, or aftermarket axles on the sportsman with them 30s on?
We’re did you get your snorkel kit
That snorkel system set up is very ineffective compared to the Highlifter which goes up the center, AND if in deep water and the ATV tips sideways at all, you're in trouble in a hurry. Trust me I know as I'm sure you do as well. The Polaris inner clutch covers all leak, but like you said, just keep on the throttle. That Highlifter inner cover will leak soon enough. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts after 2 years of heavy use on these units.
My seal is hanging off just like that on my 2024 sportsman 850 and I just bought it. I’m thinking about gluing it down cause it’s getting a little annoying. And do you know why the base models say 850 HO but the higher models don’t? I can’t find anything on the web about it.
one reccomendation for dirty radiators that the water hose aint getting it good enough alone get some coil cleaner spray it on there and let it eat for a few minutes than hose it down it will eat that shit clean!!
So the bars on your rear control arms on the base model are your sway bar links. That is what gives It a smoother ride on trails and handles better. And with the arched a arm is just for clearance. No difference in ride. The reason the high lifters are stiffer cuz they only have 4 in of travel in their suspension
Thanks for the info 👍🏻
@@jpstephensyt anytime love the videos and love the base model I have same machine sitting on 32" outlawmax she's a beast 🤘🏻
My sportsman has arched a arms and that sway bay if you take it out it will ride better but than you can’t drift
Do u recommend a polaris 450 or a honda rancher? Or anything else that's not huge
that tan one went threw more mud then that boat anchor highlifter but i get why ya kept the highlifter cause it was free
It’s only an anchor to those who don’t know how to ride one 😎🙏 the tan one was around longer so yeah she definitely hit more mud (for now)
@@MrFullThrottle its funny cause everyone i see unless modified struggles threw the mud i myself have owned one n thought it was a turd didnt take long to send it down the road to me the gearing is way to low to carry any momentum threw the mud thier for boat anchor my opinion n experience
I ran a 850 highlifter for 2 years and I liked it a lot, but the bushings and wheel bearings seemed China made and I switched to Can am (also like the vtwin)Talk with Ryan from RVS and get him to tune the highlifter and add lighter weights and it’ll be a totally different bike
I want a Sportsman SO BADLY but I just can’t afford one!
Mudpuppy put standard shocks on a high lifter and said it made a world of difference
Mudpuppy says a lot, mostly complaining that something was engineered wrong. Which means he's likely an engineer lol
The XMR kryptids, they measure 2 inches smaller than labelled. But if you buy them from a store, they measure fairly true. Why Can-Am had them lie on the size is beyond me.
Yep and it’s *cryptids
@@jpstephensyt yeah, I couldn't remember if it was a C or a K. So I went with the "cool" spelling lol
I don’t understand how you have such low miles and hours on your bike, I’ve owned my 24 outty 850xt for just over 2 months and I already have 2,200+km on mine 112 engine hours I’m mind blown on how little you use them bike
Yeah I know . I just picked up my first ATV a 2.5 months ago and I already have over 1000 miles on it. If I have an extra hour a day I jump on the damn thing . I literally ride it every single day. Might be 40 or 50 miles or it might be 2 miles but I’m always running it. Lmao
🍿
🤙🏻🤙🏻
Sheesh. Them some low hrs. I put that on a atv in a month
I've put 150 miles on my scrambler in one day 3 day of that is more than your bikes put together. You need to ride more 😊😊
Bro has 3 bikes only so much you can do
@@mmasinator I just saying he does mud I do trails big difference in mileage no matter how you ride its all fun
Build sportsman as I think you would be happier as it's got power steering & will go faster!!!
First
My question is, if polaris sent you a machine, and sponsored you. Why did you trade a polaris in for a freaking honda?
Because Honda boat that’s why 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Answer: buy an XMR
dam u never drive them lol
Build a older machine
Just more than snorkels and tires tho. Actually build it.
@@russwalls3591I agree, someone needs to build one, custom parts, and make it look good, 24k looks good but most of the parts aren’t custom
They both junk I built my 850 with portals and put my snorkels in the center the clutch sucks they over heat over all junk
That highlifter is ugly… Polaris needs to give it a facelift already.
Neither 👍 build a Honda or can am 😎
Buy another canam 🤦🏾♂️
He’s sponsored by Polaris
You don’t listen do u lol
@@Uknowwhatimsayinnyt I wasn’t replying to what he said I was commenting that he should buy another canam lol 😂
@@cb_jay9226 yeah I’m sorry if I came across as rude but what trying to say is that he is pondering him and he likes to be unique
