  • NOTE: This is just a summary. If you want the detail with my explanation of HOW I DID IT (bearing in mind I am not a mechanic, so this is just my own method), then you will need to access this video: • Video BUT DON'T BLAM ME IF YOU MESS IT UP OR GET YOURSELF INTO TROUBLE. YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Short little overview of how I removed and refurbished the original steel fuel tank on the DAF. They typically will rust underneath where the tank straps are since water likes to sit there. Ideally I would have liked to have replaced the tank, but I am on a tight budget and so JB Weld to the rescue! This is a short term temporary fix until I can save up enough pennies to buy a new diesel fuel tank.
Feel free to request to join the OVERLAND (CAMPING) AND EXPEDITION TRUCKS group if you have an overland camper (DAF or otherwise) yourself or have an aspiration to own one. It is a group which does not have too many restrictive rules, so welcomes related discussion and content on overlanding vehicles, including the Leyland Daf T244. I am turning my ex British Army lorry into an expedition vehicle / overland truck. Before I set about getting the habitation box started, I am trying to ensure that the basic mechanicals of the truck are in good, reliable order. I am not a mechanic, just a DIY'er and so this video is just for entertainment purposes, and shows what I did, including my mistakes which you can maybe learn from. Enjoy! :)
