The actor who made all of those wonderful noises is Michael Winslow, a one of a kind voice actor, who calls himself a "Voice instrumentalist". He is truly one of a kind, and able to make almost any sound you can think of and is quite a ventriloquist. He is a true talent, and played a big role in the Police Academy series. He also does stand up performances so check him out.
Hi stand up is really fun. I've only seen one of his routines but if it was indicative of what to expect than you won't be disappointed. Also he left showbiz and a promising acting career to be a dad instead, I believe as a single dad at that. His son prodded him to make a comeback saying, 'you left that life to raise me, well, I'm an adult, raising complete, you can go back if you want now.' So he did.
I love Michael Winslow - I hope she watches the Police Academy movies.
I first saw him in "Cheech & Chong's Next Movie" (1980).
George Lucas assured Mel that he wouldn't sue no matter what the gags - but he wouldn't give him permisson to sell merchanside. That's why there's an in-movie joke about Yoghurts Merch Store.
That actually makes the joke even funnier 😂
@@kahlareacts Lucas also insisted that Lonestar not look like Han Solo... so Mel Brook made him look like Indiana Jones (the main character of different movie Lucas made)!
In every Spaceballs reaction someone mentions these two facts and they're still hilarious.
It would be great if Lucas/Disney would let Brooks release merchandise on some anniversary of Spaceballs.
@@KevinLyda Could you imagine the auction price if some of the crew had managed to smuggle some of the movie prop merch out? That being said I don't doubt that Lucas personally watched or had a representative watch the props being destroyed.
@@kahlareacts:
"Lightspeed's too slow?"
*_Oh my God!!_* Spaceballs predicted The Last Jedi right down to the millimeter!! "Too slow to catch them, but fast enough not to lose them"
I say sue Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson, and give Mel Brooks *_(President Skroob)_* his millions, damn it!!!!
"Before you die there is something you should know about us, Lone Starr."
"What?"
"I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate."
"What's that make us?"
"Absolutely NOTHING!"
Fun Fact: During his scene, Michael Winslow did most of the sound effects. In the DVD audio commentary for the movie, Mel Brooks jokes that they saved around $1,000 by letting him do this.
Doll Balls Fact: The scene in which Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) is playing with his dolls was not in the screenplay. Writer, producer, and director Mel Brooks came up with the idea on the set one day and told this to Rick Moranis, who then improvised the entire scene.
Star Wars Cameo Fact: The Millennium Falcon from the Star Wars saga makes a cameo appearance in this movie. Take a close look at the exterior shot of the Space Diner, and it can be spotted parked there among the other space vehicles. George Lucas got a chance to read the screenplay before production began, and loved it so much that he decided to have his special effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, help make this movie.
Second Star Wars cameo: The escape pods were those from Princess Leia's ship.
08:23 Behold, Michael Winslow! King of Beatboxing, Master of Noises! A living, breathing legend! He rocked Police Academy the same way he rocked it in every other movie he ever took part in and every single time he appeared live on stage!
Every time you ask "WHY???", you are at the same time providing the answer. You are laughing.
Those shoulder pads would make a romulan blush. and 'evil will always triumph because good is dumb' should be the official motto of the sith empire
Fun fact! The guy who said "we ain't found shit", happens to be Tim Russ. The same actor who portrayed Tuvok on Star Trek Voyager.
Now that’s just Vulcan funny.
And in one show of the next generation, as a villan...
"Is it like Voltron?"
I immediately fell in love with this woman.
So two things. One, George Lukas LOVED this movie. He was giving the script to look over before they made it and he even gave permission for a very very brief cameo. Right before the diner scene in the parking lot, if you look closely, the Millennium Falcon is parked. Second, while Lukas loved the script, the merchandising company played hardball. They only allowed the movie to be made on the condition that they could not make ANY merchandise. That cause two changed in the movie 1. the merchandise scene and the name of the 'force' parallel. You see, the company that made those rules was the *Schwartz* merchandise company.
By the way, Mel Brooks played, "Yogurt" and also the guy in the suit who's head got beamed backwards and was in the bed with the girls and the book.
Precident Skroob, Brooks backwards
@@marcusfridh8489 broooks spelled backwards is not skroob (that would be skoorb). Skroob is an anagram of Brooks though.
In case you didn’t catch it, Chapter 11 is a bankruptcy filing. Since they didn’t make _Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money,_ the third movie would have to be _Spaceballs 3: The Search For Spaceballs 2._ 😄
George Lucas declared this movie a “dangerous comedy” because he laughed so hard, he feared he might break something.
I'll be honest, I would TOTALLY buy Spaceballs the toilet paper if it existed
I would buy the spaceballs flame thrower
They could also have Spaceballs: The Bidet.
No shit 😂
I was born in 82. Spaceballs and Howard the duck are the first two movies I remember. I didnt know it was a parody of star wars until i was 10+
Tim Russ' "we ain't found sh*t!!" holding a massive afro comb will never not be a classic line that has me laughing no matter how many times I see it 😂

Another fantastic comedy/parody movie with laughs throughout is Airplane. Over 40 years old and still a timeless comedy today.
It's a true masterpiece. It's so, so stupid, but in all the best ways.

Well, there IS one that needs a little explanation: Valium is a depressant/sleep medicine. Hence the prince was always drowsy. It was a popular drug back then. The visuals for him are taken from Prince Valiant of the comics. All way before your time.
The only reason Mel Brooks got permission to make this movie was because Mel had to promise not to make and sell merchandise of SpaceBalls.
The one running gag thru the movie. Was the Prince Valium. Valium is a depressant drug that makes you tired.(sleepy).
Thanks for the review.
A litteraly sleeping pill
Took me years before I noticed Dark Helmet was wearing a Windsor tie😂
He's also wearing tights, pleather shorts and anklet boots. His outfit makes me roll every time I see it😆
And with the circular shapes beside the tie it looks like a ....
This was the best reaction for Spaceballs I have ever watched. Too many times the fans tell reactors to which this movie but never say “watch star wars, watch planet of the apes, alien, etc. first.” So the reactors get none of those gags - very disappointing. You maybe missed the Snotty star trek reference, but you got the rest of them - pizza the hut, Im your uncle’s cousin’s brother’s etc., planet of the apes, alien, etc. The BEST reaction ever to this movie🖖
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I did catch Star Trek reference. “Beam me up, Scotty” is one of the few things I know about Star Trek 😂
@@kahlareactsWell, that's a start!
Plus, Snotty is dressed as a stereotypical Scotsman, referring to Scotty being scottish (as one could easily recognise from his accent).
14:13 one of the 'dinks' is Tony Cox from Bad Santa and Me Myself and Irene.
16:17 Tim Russ who played Tuvok on Star Trek Voyager.
I never thought of Dark Helmet as a Fisher Price toy until you mentioned it lol
A mel Brooks classic and a fun reaction. Thanks for sharing
crazy fact! The Spinners did that spaceballs theme song during the self destruct sequence!
whenever you call me, i'll be there, i'll be around~
WORKIN MY WAY BACK TO YOU BABE
those guys. i have no idea how they got them.
In the directors commentary on the DVD, Mel Brooks joked that he originally wanted the whole movie to be the opening shot of Spaceball One that *never* ended, two hours until we got to the engine cluster and “We Brake for Nobody”
the voice actor is the man, the myth, he godly legend michael winslow. fun fact or 2, pizza the hut is made of real pizza and the inside was so hot from the heat fans, that the actor nearly died. one of the conditions to get approval to make this movie from lucas was that brooks couldnt make any merch, hence the running gag.
Pizza the Hutt’s main ingredient is the late, great Dom DeLuise. They just don’t make them like that anymore. I’m sure the worst part about getting into costume was having to go in the oven.
OMG, your laugh is so delightful and infectious.
Radar guy ... Michael winlsow is in the Police Academy movies doing sounds
I remember, many years ago, this showed at the cinemas along with Superman 4: The quest for peace.
Have you seen any other Mel Brooks movies, if not, I'd highly recommend "Blazing Saddles", "Dracula: Dead and Loving It", "The Producers", and "Robin Hood: Men in Tights"
As young as you are.. you have an appreciation far beyond your years. Bless the environment you were raised to understand ❤😂
To parody Star Wars, Steven Speilberg made Mel Brooks promise a couple things. (1) No Spaceballs merchandise - which is why there's so much of it IN the movie. (2) Lone Star couldn't be dressed like Han Solo - so Brooks dressed him like another Harrison Ford Character, Indiana Jones.
* George.
18:02 the ocean 😂
Almost 40 years of watching this and, of all the gags, i never realized how long that pi$$ was😂😂
I'm glad you noticed the guy sitting down during the asshole bit. Many reactors don't notice.
He didn’t stand up? What an asshole. 😉
Yes please
This movie is brilliant humor from start to finish!
Fun fact. When Mel Brooks talked with George Lucas about this parody, Lucas agreed to it, but Brooks was not allowed to sell merchandise from the movie (hence the Spaceballs Merchandise skit) and Lone Star was not allowed to resemble Han Solo, so Brooks had him dress as Indiana Jones instead. Both of these, Lucas actually thought were hilarious loopholes.
You are the best! You recognized EVERY reference used and your knowledge is amazing. You're my new fave!
18:58 Star wars like to include a secret, hidden, base.
So Spaceballs added a secret hidden bass😅
You'll also like Robinhood Men In Tights, Blazing Saddles, And Clue.

Mel: what is this 4th wall you speak of 🤔 sounds like something that needs to be demolished 🤭
The sleepy prince is called Prince Valium because of the effects of the pill "valium".
@Kahlareacts their is a sort of continuation for Spaceballs they made a animated series back in 2008. Each episode parodies something different.
I am so glad that you watched this. Such a funny classic.
Watch these Comedies: It's Hard Not to Love Mrs. Doubtfire ,The Ringer, Date Night, Gabriel Iglesias: Stadium Fluffy , Jo Koy : Don't Make Him Angry , The 40-Year-Old Virgin , You Don't Mess with the Zohan
Let me take it this way... Your kind of taste, is veeery American...
Police Academy is funny too!
Mel Brooks films are always great and hilarious!
SpaceBalls is one of the best spoof movies and my favorite Mel Brooks movie. I think the Aliens Looney Tunes moment is my favorite joke in the movie. I think every joke in Spaceballs hits, and it's pretty much everything you'd want in a parody of Star Wars. I'd highly recommend checking out Mel Brooks other comedies, Blazing Saddles and History of the World, Part I. I would recommend his best comedy, Young Frankenstein, too, but I think you should check out the Universal Horror Frankenstein trilogy first. Those movies are Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of Frankenstein. I say that because Young Frankenstein is a love letter to the Frankenstein trilogy and contains a lot of jokes and references to them.
And the actual original props, too.
@@mikejankowski6321 Yup that too 🙂
The prince's name is Prince Valium, so no surprise he is quite sleepy.
Snotty is a parody of a popular Star Trek character Scotty. Another franchise to look forward to checking out. I'd recommend you start with the JJ Abrams trilogy to start. The older movies are better if you watch the TV shows that inspired them and are a bigger commitment. The newest trilogy does a good job filling you in without the TV series.
JJ Abrams?!?!? AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!! TOS! TOS! TOS!
@@mikejankowski6321The 2009 ST was okay, but Abrams deserves permanent exile on Ceti Alpha V for what he did with Benedict Noonien Cumberkhan.

The "we ain't found shit" trooper is Tuvok from star trek voyager.

18:10 This is what I thought of, when I was watching the TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S and they have a flashback, and show Rachel's old nose. 😮
Great reaction as always! This movie is a freaking gem!
Dotmatrix is a voiced by commedianne Joan Rivers (can we talk? fame). but was physically portray by Lorene Yarnell a mime artist famous with Shields and Yarnell. Dotmatrix is an old style type of a computer printer (before laser printrs and before inkjet printers). Also parody C3PO.
all the movies cassettes seen in the desert search scene are all Mel Brooks movies.
Mel Brooks has toyed with the idea of a sequel since the last star wars triology came out. There was a short lived animated series Spaceballs: The Animated Series. it ran for 1 season on the Super Channel G mostly in Canada. But some of episodes appeared in the US on the Cartoon network (I Think)
The man who does the sounds, Michael Winslow, Also did some of the sound effects in the movie. Mel claims he save a lot of money by using Michael Winslow instead hiring an entire sfx (sound effects) team.
John Hurt, Cain from Alien, makes a cameo. Mel initially approached John to make a cameo but did not tell him he was going to the chest bursting scene. When John arrived on set, he was tottally surprised at what they wanted to do. John has stated thatif he had known that, he may have turned down Mel.
Perfect reaction 🤣🤣💖
Im so glad you watched this movie!!!
May I suggest "Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein" and "Robin Hood: Men in Tights?"
I'd say, for anyone who knows Alfred Hitchcock films, High Anxiety is a must.
Lol funny spoof movie
I don't know how many Mel Brooks movies you've seen, but Blazing Saddles, History of the World Part I, Young Frankenstein, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights are all good ones.
In case you didn’t know that black guy with the white helmet that was making all those weird noises with his mouth was and the movie police Academy and he was hilarious there too
The Twelve Chairs is also good.

The Yogurt doll in the merch scene just went up for auction
So many points, so many stops, so many =X-D =X-D =X-D!!! Kahla, your reaction made my day! Thank you and may the schwartz be with you! =8-D
The funny thing is, they made a reference to spaceball sequel but they never made a sequel to this movie. They must’ve planned on it, but they never did.
I'm also a nerd for John Williams scores. Jurassic Park was great as well as Stae Wars
"Spaceballs": On the surface, a "Space Opera" spoof, in detail, turning "Star Wars" on it's head! (Approved by George Lucas!) I was feeling a bit down when I chose this reaction. I feel much better; Mel Brooks never fails to deliver laughs.;) 17:23 Years later, Alan Tudyk as "Wash Washburn" in "Firefly" did this: czcams.com/video/yHPvOeahQnc/video.html
Barfolomew!
Hi, I met Michael Winslow. Spent several hrs very nice man.
CHAPTER 11: the movie went straight into bankruptcy.
Ah! That one went right over my head
I never thought about Chapter 11. Haha!
Another goofy, ridiculous comedy movie I'd recommend is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It's a comedy about King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on a holy quest for the Holy Grail, the cup that held the blood of Jesus Christ. Monty Python and the Holy Grail makes fun of every aspect of the King Arthur legends. It's also bonkers in the best of ways and absolutely hilarious. It's even crazier than SpaceBalls. Definitley worth a watch if you haven't seen it 🙂

If you like "Spaceballs The Movie", and I would say you did, you will like these other movies by Mr. Mel Brooks, who at over 90 years old is still alive as I am writing this, "Blazing Saddles", "Young Frankenstein" and "High Anxiety". He has more, but start with these. They are all funny, and they are all different. "Blazing Saddles" was made to show the idiocy of racism, and the idiocy of those who are racist, among other things. All done with laughs and satire. Comedian Richard Pryor was one of the script writers, so... .
