  • Yamaha Ambassador Nick Sanders dropped into Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV on Wednesday 11 March 2020, during a lay period while he awaits his Yamaha Tenere 700 to clear customs. Time to assist him with route planning for Australia and time for him to show us some of this latest spectacular footage from South America.

    People gave this gentleman a thumbs down... really? Whats the world coming to?
    Humble guy doing what most of us wish we were doing. He didn't even talk about the T-7 unless prompted, totally about the riding and experiences. Good on ya brother!

    I saw your video last year after riding the Super Tenere and then being introduced on stage to talk about the Tenere 700, after riding the Tenere 700 for awhile now has it lived up to the hype and checked the buy boxes for the potential buyer. Is the plan to ride the Tenere 700 for a set time and then turn it over to Yamaha to dissect for component strength and shortfall. I think it would be cool for Yamaha to have a different rider every 50 or 100 thousand kilometers to see just how long the bike will last with proper upkeep to demonstrate how damn good this bike is in the real world. I have enjoyed seeing your videos and your passion for travelling the world on 2 wheels interacting with those you cross riding around the world.

      I was so bloody lucky to secure this interview. I was filming the Tenere Tragics and Nick was a special guest, who had literally arrived that day for his Australian leg. His bike was being imported to Sydney, I live in Sydney and we both had yesterday off. We filmed for the day. Big thanks to Clubby AKA Andrew Club who came along to assist. I cut the video until the early hours of this morning. It's a bit rought around the edges but I wanted to get it out before Nick headed off. Nick is not well known in Australia by name but if you said to someone, "Have you seen that guy riding that Yammy R1 arround the world sinking it in the jungle" , most would know. Some of the footage Nick shares is truly spectacular and hot off the press from his South America leg. A funny moment in the video is when we christen him with Aeorguard after he was attacked by a bloody big fly. So much fun filming him, we had a great day.

    First thing I will say with this question is I understand that there are absolutely alot of variables involved in this. What sort of bottom line cost would a trip like this have for an average rider? Time is a non-issue. Just $$$
    My plans don't include a journey of this scope quite yet. But being financially prepared is one of my biggest stresses while I prepare myself.
    And I suppose to get more specific. Let's say I already have all the gear and a decent bike and physical preparedness for it. Along with planning on camping alot more than the occasional b&b/hostels.

    Great interview Dave. One thing puzzles me though. Nick's tyre choice. For instance in the shot when he gets stuck in a sand pit. He basically has road tyres on. In some other shots you can see the bike moving around suspiciously indicating road oriented tyres as well. To me this is unexpected and I would be interested in what experiment he is conducting. :-)

      Niklas, same tyres TKC70's from London to Medellin in Colombia then replaces with new ones. No actual plan here just getting the most miles but one thing, not got a single puncture over some harsh terrain. They are wearing very well.

    • @niklaszx4011
      @niklaszx4011 Před 4 lety

      Here is an interesting opportunity for comparison. You will soon have the chance to compare the t7 on the same roads and tracks on the two tyre types under exactly the same conditions swapping bikes. I expect that would be a really appreciated All Tenere feature.

    • @niklaszx4011
      @niklaszx4011 Před 4 lety +1

      Btw. I am close to ordering a t7 myself. The t7 appears to me to be a genuine doitall bike. But tyres rarely are. I am envisioning swapping wheels to get the road / fun on a go cart track -performance. Possibly with 19 inch front or even 17. then next day swap for e few days on the TET.
