Over the years, I've done this many times. I use a bit of clear embossing ink on the stamp to assist with the "peel".
I layer with a piece of t.p. then add a coat of gesso, then add another layer of t.p., gesso, making as many layers as I've got the patience for.
I found that the gesso stabilized the papers (i.e. like a light-weight glue) and evened out the colour. Additionally the gesso meant that I could add further colour and medias and provided a stiffening component. The other way to do this is with facial tissue, separated into it's layers.
I apologize for not remembering who shared this technique because it was at least 30 years ago. In the old days we called this "faux paper-casting". There used to be terracotta clay moulds that were used for casting papers with cotton pulp and they were very expensive. Being an impatient crafter, I would put my faux paper-cast into the microwave with 20-30 second bursts until the papers were dry. Usually took about 4 to 5 bursts in the microwave. (Yes, in the microwave, right onto the rubber - yikes - lol, bad - don't do this at home unless it's an old stamp you don't adore. It's one of those things that some of us crafters do - get too impatient!!)
SO nice to see budget minded crafters. GREAT VIDEO, thanks.
