Contemporary Marching Band - Grade 3-4
Featured in the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, this '70s hit recorded by Electric Light Orchestra has a timeless feel and sounds great with a marching band!

As a Horn player, I give Matt Conaway my respect for a good Horn part
I agree!
Yeah, with the 32nd notes
HEY
Nice instrument.
I’m on my phone do trumpets get any horn ques?
As a saxophonist, I second that respect for a decent Alto part
I’m a senior in high school and when i tell you guys this got me EMOTIONAL!! I’m gonna miss playing in those stands on Friday Nights. (‘:
Same. What state you from?
I’m a freshmen and my first game is in a week, exited :)
I Respect, Cause right now on Oct 7th is my Homecoming Game
And I'm a King Candidate for it and in Drumline
I'm graduating this year and they are playing this next year I'm sad I'm missing it
FINALLY A MR BLUE SKY ARRANGEMENT
As a Trumpet player with a very low range after COVID, this song destroys my breath.
that mello part is delicious
Yes yes very tasty
DustinGalaxyGacha UwU hell yeah bro I’ve been playing mello for about a year now and we always get hella good parts
@@brandonfaulk3102 always better than what I get with the French Horn
utterly scrumptious
I love the intro, how it dives straight into the song.
ive waited for years i tell you, YEARS!
This is our last song for our field show this season! I don't play horn but wow..this horn part is stunning! Almost makes me wish I played horn, haha!
We’re currently voting on some new ones... this one better win
I have the horn part and it takes a while to master
An awesome arrangement, not the same copy-paste brass and woodwind parts with the most basic harmonies and rhythms like some newer marching arrangements. Love it!
Yes best birthday present everrr!! I
Love this song so much!
Yes! Finally mr blue sky
The ending is FRIGGIN SICK
Same here as a horn player, this is just epic.
People over 35: We heard this from the radio
People under 35: Guardians of the Galaxy
Me at age 21: This was the first rock band I've ever listened to
Look I’m under 35 but the first time I heard it was from my grandpa
im 14 and heard it from my parents when i was around 7
i then made my mom play it for me multiple times a day lmao
Megamind
@@mugfan9779 yes exactly

@@tiredperson1124 tbh the typo was awesome, this is rich hot is accurate :D thus spake the universe through your fatfinger!
Sounds like some happy Disney Pixar music...
We’re playing this song this year and I swear, that final note just gave me chills listening to it. It’s my favorite one we’re doing
We better be playing this, Mr. Holt
this is my second song in my last high school field show :’)

You know it’s gonna be good when you see that bold text at the top
Beautiful

0:17 THE DIRT 😭

ELMB! (Electric Light Marching Band)
1:53 this is some DCI type stuff
God this song gives me an oner with a b
VERY GOOD PART FOR HORN/MELLOPHONE
Playing this for cmu day kinda sad that we have to wake up at 4:30 am
Those 4 Bass Drums are different sizes so they play different notes. The Woodwinds & Brass are playing so loud that you almost never hear the Bass Drums but instead you feel them.
This would make for a good national anthem.
I’m pissed. This is our next years show music and I’m senior this year. I’m graduating and won’t even get the chance to play it, and my part is like actually good as well
Lmfao same
I have to play this in my marching band this year
My band director has made the hardest drill ever and we're getting good
We are the Open Door Christian School Marching Patriots
From Open Door Christian School
We are also the marching patriots, Freedom Marching Patriots.
They gave the bass drum a hard part
Measures 72 and 73 on xylo 😭 I can never switch to A on time
For real though, it may just be quarter notes, but s t i l l...
I play mello, and I appreciate the great part we have, but I am so bad at it-
I've only just started mello though, so it'll probably get better
I don't mind the key, but it sounds too.... Square... I know, I know it's for high school marching bands, but didn't Bluecoats prove we can add some swing and grace notes to stuff to make it special?
Can someone please explain to me how to do the trills for the flute part? Like what note to what note? They always make me confused 😅
I'm no flute player either, but I do play piano, so I can tell you this:
A trill is rapidly moving between the note written and the note one whole step above it multiple times.
So the first trill would be F to Eb, second trill would be Eb to D and the third trill would be Db to C. I hope whoever made this comment sees this and has figured it out or doesnt know how to yet

no bari sax? 0/10. In all actuality, this is amazing!
Drum majors tap in
Anyone play baritone?i do
Ben you had the chance to late.
wow
I came to hear how this compared to the version that the 2016 Skyliners drum corps played. Winds sound ok, but It needs better writing for the percussion. It sounds too basic for even the most beginner of bands.
Why are you comparing this high school arrangement to a drum core arrangement? And for the percussion part, MOST arrangements of any song is arranged to this “difficulty”. This is also a stand tune. Not a marching chart. Unless that band director wants it to be. Depending on how well his students play.
Trent Williams preach.
Why is it in Eb? F is literally the easiest key ever :(
Another horrible instance of taking a song in F and making it sound worse by putting it in Eb. Also another arrangement of MBS that doesn’t have the flat 6 in the melody in the beginning. The first four notes should be C Db C Db (in the key of F.)
You must be fun at parties, Gus.
I think the arrangement was good but I agree, I don't like the key. Maybe something without as many flats like Bb
And just in general the key of Eb is just annoying for any sort of 16 or 32 note runs- mainly just Eb as a note
Yeah like wtf. F is so easy for every instrument. I never understand why these arrangers take music in horn friendly keys and somehow think "you know what, why not put this in Eb of Ab for funsies huehuehuehuehuehue" Maybe it's just me and literally anyone with a sense of absolute pitch, but I feel like certain keys have very specific qualities of emotion to them. Eb is just so much darker compared to the bright sunny day sound F makes for the song literally about blue sunny skies. Am I overthinking this? I know it's just an artistic choice but it's just _unnecessary..._
Everyone has always complained about our version of Seven Nation being in the wrong key and agree they do this a lot
I didn't like the ending 🤷♂️
missed. oppurtunity not having the tubas go mrblue sky and ave the trumpets go high with please tell me why
