      It actually used to be a regular thing in F1 to have a title fight until the last race of the year (before the turbo era), but people are behaving as if it's something unprecedented in F1 history, lol.
      The only thing that has been special this year is the number of collisions / incidents between the title contenders.

    • @carlcushmanhybels8159
      @carlcushmanhybels8159 Před 2 lety +40

      For the sake of some semblance of balance I'm among those who sure hope Max Verstappen wins the title. Hamilton, with so many advantages from Mercedes, etc, has won so many titles in the hybrid era, it's long past time and need for someone else to win. Until this year with Red Bull, no team besides Mercedes (English & German really) could get the hybrid combo right. Hamilton is like the Schumacher of recent years. F1 needed someone other than Schuey to win then. And for the sake of F1 & fairness, F1 needs someone other than Hammy to win.

    Two things I didn't expect coming into this season... Alonso and Vettel on a podium.
    Both did it with their underwhelming cars and on their pace alone. Obviously they needed some other drivers (Merc and Red Bull cars namely) to make mistakes and lose those podium positions, but still, they are both driving complete midfield cars.
    Although the Alpine this week was amazing all weekend. Arguably the 3rd or 4th best car.
