The year is 2023, Zhou has done the same with both Alpines. He's learnt from the master.
This race had it all, heartbreak for most of the top field, non stop action to watch, incredible defensive driving and overtakes from multiple drivers, new first time winner who had to work for it, outside of a title decider I can’t think of anything else I would have wanted from an F1 race.
Alonso really said "You shall not pass" at the end of the race. What a win for Ocon and the whole team with both drivers contributing massively

Ocon drove a fantastic race but if due to luck ( which is the reason ocon got the lead in the first place ) you had put alonso in the lead he would have won too. Actually, his pace in free air was better than ocon's and even saved him from Hamilton. That doesn't mean ocon didn't deserve the win. He drove very well. It is just that Alonso was faster. Well done to both drivers.

Very reminiscent of Imola 2005, when Alonso fought his heart out to keep Michael behind in a 3-4 second faster Ferrari. Probably the best wheel-to-wheel racer of this decade.

I’m new to following F1- what does this mean?
@@Sarahthompson2237 It was a mistake by Mercedes team / driver to not come for tires suitable for driving on a surface that had dried (they all had tires for damp track on) for the restart, all the other drivers did and so they start from the pit lane while Hamilton was on the actual grid. It just looks really funny because usually 20 cars line up on the grid but because of a weird set of circumstances (Red Flag / Race stopped because of Crash and track drying during the stoppage) only one car was on the grid.

Well, I get it that it's a shame for Vettel, but one was a driver error, the other is a violation of a rule that exists to prevent cheating. Hence the severity of the penalty.

@@oldfrend Alpine is now the current sports brand of Renault, kind of like AMG is to Mercedes or the M performance division of BMW. It was honestly a defunct brand, but I think 1 or 2 years ago, Renault got a new CEO who wanted to bring back the Alpine brand. They do sell thier sporty cars under the Alpine brand now, no idea if they are in North America though.
This is definitely a race to remember for many.

If he would have pitted and everybody stayed out of the pits then he would be the last and otherwise if he would not pit and stay outside like in the race he had bigger chances to win the race.

It's a shame the damage to Max's car robbed us of a potential battle as him and Lewis fought their way up the field, but we were treated to so many amazing moments in this race. Loving the sport right now.
