Oof. I'm Horde to the core, but Anduin's theme is enough to fill me with Alliance patriotism. And then Saurfang's theme jolts me right back to my own side. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Oh yes, very clever Blizzard. Glad you pointed that out Sideways. Good show! [Actually has no idea what’s going on and is guessing it has something to do with leitmotif].
Wrynn's theme gives me chills every time. I've become so invested in Anduin's story as I've grown up along side him, I'm only a couple years older then his canonical age. And to be honest, my philosophical journey mirrors his as well.
Jaina's theme is another that just blows me away every time. She sort of has 2 now, the 'Jaina Homeland/Theramore' theme, and 'Daughter of the Sea', both used to amazing effect throughout Battle for Azeroth in various places.
I was wondering when you'd make something on this. Motifs, man. I'm especially fond of Saurfang's, it's so simple, two notes to start with a sliding glissando, then a resolution found in the notes to come. I'm so excited to see where the story goes. #noshouldersforoldsoldiers
oh my God i found you today and I've been binging your videos. I LOOOOOOOVE music and how it's being used to represent something and I have literally no one to talk to about it haha. one of my favourites is probably used in Starcraft 2 where they established a "Love Theme" and you can hear it mixed in cutscene and cinematic tracks and you only ever hear it completely when HOTS credits roll.
Was lucky to play in a concert with one of this game's composers (Neil Acree) conducting when I was seventeen. I'm not a fan of the games, but the music is great!
Have you guys ever noticed the theme song for Dazar Alor has that pedal point on 'D' then the chords over the top are: dminor-aminor-dminor-aminor etc changing with each note of the melody. The music is literally spelling out "Dazar Alor" :) It's not only an epic sounding theme, but this little tid bit really tickles me.
Hey Sideways, I just want to let you know your channel is amazing. My music theory teacher in high school actually played your Sight Singing and Ear Training video and that was super cool since I’ve been subbed for a long time now. Keep up the great work!
Idk if you're into the show Attack on Titan, but it would be pretty cool to see a video on Sawano's music if you were, especially how the Ape Titan theme is used.
I think one of the best Blizzards soundtracks is Heart of the Swarm. Yeah and you can't just ignore the similarities between Protoss and Night elf motive. :D (I heard a lot, I know.)
Did anyone else notice that the song that plays when the Horde starts their charge in thw BFA cinematic is the theme song established for Grommash in WoD?
Could you do a video on the purpose of music in Ken Burns’ documentaries? I’m a huge fan of the channel and the soundtracks and it would be incredible to have both in tandem. Thanks for your attention!
Yo man this is really obscure but I watched your 4 chords video and I thought it’d be neat if you took a look at “The Prophet’s Song” by Queen. A little more than half way through you get this amazing a cappella part with all 4 of them on it.
Dude could you do God of War soundtrack (old vs new) Especially after the new one I could definitely feel the story from the music. All the realms have distinct sounds and when something Greek related happens I feel like a more mature version of the older games is heard. Think you might have fun dissecting it :)
This music is by Neal Acree and the song of the first clip that you hear is called "Azeroth's Last Hope". Unfortunately, the music for the other cinematics shown have not been released yet.
Sorry, I made a mistake. The music for the second clip is also by Neal Acree and is called "What Makes Us Strong". The other music, though, still hasn't been released.
Hi Sideways! Can you check out the Detective Pikachu trailer? People are noticing that the Pokemon battle theme and Happy Together harmonize. Do you think it's a coincidence?
Prediction: he'll like the don't forget motifs as the recurring main theme, really like what the game does with Lancer's Theme, appreciate the continuity with Gaster's Theme but be confused at it not clearly representing anything in this game And then if the full game releases with an obligatory Megalovania he'll be mad and the entire soundtrack is total garbage
I don't like these "cinematic themes"... they're bombastic, etc... but i forget them immediately after hearing them. and they're everywhere in orchestral music these days... I wish they'd go back to basics again. I wish they'd worry less about the orchestral soundscapes, sounding big, and more about making absolutely sure the piece/theme/idea works with a single instrument (piano, guitar, solo violin etc.) so well that it would be perfect song just as is... and then make the orchestration etc. around it to make that great and wonderful theme or song into something bigger. It's easy to sound huge with tools of today without really saying anything at all...
Blizzard and thematic music? Their franchises ran for so long they have to recycle their music. A call to arm appears in Jaina’s theme, some legion tunes have temple of the moon theme etc...
Brother, may I have some *L e i t m o t i f*
Anduin is a priest, so would that make his music...
...a Lightmotif?
Out
Boooo
You’re my hero
I love you
Boo this man boooooo
Blizzard's art departments know what tf they're doing even if other departments, not so much.
Oof.
I'm Horde to the core, but Anduin's theme is enough to fill me with Alliance patriotism.
And then Saurfang's theme jolts me right back to my own side.
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
If you dont get it, you havent watched enough Sideways vids
Yet. I'm looking forward to catching up.
well, that's more themes per minute then in Infinity war so
Oh yes, very clever Blizzard. Glad you pointed that out Sideways. Good show!
[Actually has no idea what’s going on and is guessing it has something to do with leitmotif].
This man’s channel should be changed to “the leitmotif guy”
Derpa 123456 😂
Play same melody again to invoke feelings.
Wrynn's theme gives me chills every time. I've become so invested in Anduin's story as I've grown up along side him, I'm only a couple years older then his canonical age. And to be honest, my philosophical journey mirrors his as well.
Damn, never played WoW but the music's got me hyped. The music really expands the emotion in each scene in a way that some movies scenes can do
Yo Sideways, just wanted to say that you’re my favorite CZcams creator, and I look forward to every video! 👏🎵
Reade Gauvin I can relate
That Horde theme needs more use as the expansion continues. It's just so... Perfect. Makes me tear up every time.
Jaina's theme is another that just blows me away every time. She sort of has 2 now, the 'Jaina Homeland/Theramore' theme, and 'Daughter of the Sea', both used to amazing effect throughout Battle for Azeroth in various places.
This entire video is just a hard flex on the predictions from how to kill a king.
I see you are a man of culture
I was wondering when you'd make something on this. Motifs, man. I'm especially fond of Saurfang's, it's so simple, two notes to start with a sliding glissando, then a resolution found in the notes to come. I'm so excited to see where the story goes. #noshouldersforoldsoldiers

So glad someone is discussing (even without words) the music of WoW
"Next we'll be calling up farmers"
"READY TO WERK!"
Hey Sideways, I just want to let you know your channel is amazing. My music theory teacher in high school actually played your Sight Singing and Ear Training video and that was super cool since I’ve been subbed for a long time now.
Keep up the great work!
First 30 secs tripped me out, coming from your transformers video
It's almost like it's a motif of some sort.
Beautifully rendered..
Idk if you're into the show Attack on Titan, but it would be pretty cool to see a video on Sawano's music if you were, especially how the Ape Titan theme is used.
Sideways pops a stiffy every time he hears a leitmotif
THESE MAKE ME WEEP AAAAAAAAA especially the saurfang/horde theme
I get so excited when I see sideways release wow music !
I think one of the best Blizzards soundtracks is Heart of the Swarm.
Yeah and you can't just ignore the similarities between Protoss and Night elf motive. :D
(I heard a lot, I know.)
Both Protoss and Night Elf themes use "Eastern" elements.
I haven't played WoW in years, but every time they release a new trailer it does not fail to make all the feels come rushing back.
Yeah and you check the game and it's just sHiT in different colours and flavours.
The first one is the alliance theme, the other is the saurfang theme. Leitmotifs
Wow is know for having the best music in gaming for a reason
fuck this is like the midterm of sideway videos I am getting ptsd from school
I loved that
It's beautifully done, Saurfang lost a son, Anduin a father, they both filled that void in each other's lives.
Where did the video you posted today go!!! It was so good I was only halfway through
At the end of the Battle for Azeroth Feature Overview trailer we can hear the same leitmotif that plays at the end of the WotLK Cinematic too
YOUR BACK :)
Recursion is just one of many building recipes.
That call to arms melody gets me so haaardd
Ayy new vidddd
Ooo! More Warcraft Music, cool.
That Saurfang theme has me fighting tears every single time.
Don't fight them, embrace them😭
me, a bitch who's played a ton of wow but seen maybe 3 marvel movies: ain't that the avengers theme
Did anyone else notice that the song that plays when the Horde starts their charge in thw BFA cinematic is the theme song established for Grommash in WoD?

I can't find this music on Google Play. Can you share the composer and other info?
This music is by Neal Acree and the song of the first clip that you hear is called "Azeroth's Last Hope". Unfortunately, the music for the other cinematics shown have not been released yet.
Sorry, I made a mistake. The music for the second clip is also by Neal Acree and is called "What Makes Us Strong". The other music, though, still hasn't been released.
Please do something in-depth on wow sideways. I discovered you long before this vid btw.
Are you telling me someone's going to die?
Hey man! Just 2 mins! For shame.
I fucking love you
Dude, I just managed to overcome Varians death, and you have to throw him in there like this?
holy fuck
STORM YOU GIVE ME MORE
Coincidence that I’m restarting WoW. do you play? If so what server are you on?
8.1 it going to be amazing!
Hi Sideways! Can you check out the Detective Pikachu trailer? People are noticing that the Pokemon battle theme and Happy Together harmonize. Do you think it's a coincidence?
Was the last video taken down?
Hey there
Yeah but what about the lietmotifs going on with Stromguard's warfront with that Alliance Return to Arms?
The bitrate isn't enough for this footage.
Dude can u do a video on Undertale coz I don’t feel like any videos on its music actually do it justice
Hey Sideways. What's the story behind your name and icon?
What happened to sideway's new video?
I hate how much I love Anduin's theme but how much I hate the Alliance and Anduin.
FOR THE HORDE!
As much as the gameplay and story of wow has kind of gone down hill, the art direction, cinematics and music will always be my favorite for any game.
What school do you recommend for me to become a film scorer??
The University of Ligma
@@ElMoShApPiNeSs is the joke Ligma Balls?
@@themusicalpete5001 Of course not.
0:58!
Sooo undertale got a sequel...
People really like the leitmotives in it...
Care to open that can of worms again?

@@coastersplus thanks, I've missed that level of cynicism form this channel p:
Oh boy another wow video. I can't wait to get shit on again because I like alliance more than horde
Do La is a hard interval for me to remember. Is that your point?
If you want to see some amazing music then check out FFXIV Shadowbringers.
WTB more Warcraft analysis from sideways
Yuup Same I miss that Lad
what about war-bringer Jaina's music :P
What are they doing?
Yeah..uhm I'm really confused
V
Edit: So this is what it feels like to be the coveted "First"

Their music is always on point. Shame about everything else :(

Watch la la land. You’ll love It

shitpost?
Fredrik Ingemarsson - you have to watch Sideway’s video “How to Kill a King” then watch this and listen very carefully to the music.
Thanks for the suggestion@@ella_komiya

Too bad the expansion wasn't as good as the music in the expansion.
