  • Tristan grew up in the religious denomination of the Jehovah's Witnesses and had a happy childhood. Early in life he realized what he learned in school and read in books didn’t match the cult teachings. By traveling to different countries and meeting other people he managed to find mental freedom and happiness.

Thoroughly enjoyed this interview. I so agreed with Tristan’s observations about the limitations on meaningful conversations with JWs. With my Mom (PIMI), if you start to have a “real” or meaningful conversation around philosophy, politics, environmental concerns; the conversation comes to an abrupt halt with her go to line, “Well, WE know what’s going to happen. WE don’t need to think about this or worry like the world.” That bringing a screeching halt to the conversation, to the exchange of ideas. It’s sad to see people limit their thinking and conversations. And then they turn around and do it to their children. Congrats to the ones who break free like yourself.

He’s quite a character! I am glad you discussed both sides and honestly- also accurate in so many aspects! Cracked me up- in 1960s I was that little girl being raised going to 3 times a week meetings. 😂I didn’t mind 1-hour “Bible” study on Tuesday night but I hated Thursday night meeting! In NYCity in 1960s I told my parents at age 9,”l hate Thursdays. I hate Thursday night meetings. It rains every Thursday.”
I stuck with “it” for another 40ish years. Got screwed by the JW divorce rules. 😢

As for love....it is pure self love if you only "love" ( word) others to get a free ticket to heaven.
As far as i know every language only has one main word for love.
Nonsense and even insulting to call dutch "a poor language" .

Out Of Control ONE TRUE RELIGION
It is only logical that there would be one true religion. This is in harmony with the fact that the true God is a God, "not of disorder, but of peace." (1 Corinthians 14:33) The Bible says that actually there is only "one faith." (Ephesians 4:5) Who, then, are the ones who form the body of true worshipers today?
