- This week we are headed out on a western whitetail deer hunt! We are bringing our three mules along and searching for big rutting whitetail bucks in some amazing and beautiful country! Being the first time we have ever hunted this particular area we had no idea what we were in for. But after one day of scouting the country we started to put together where the deer were holding up. This was also the first time we packed out meat on our own mules, which made this trip especially meaningful to us. If you've been joining along for a while you know that we have been working hard to get our young mules safe in the mountains and being able to pack meat is a huge step.

Worked for a guy had a tan mule named Benjamin. Packed elk for 20 years with him. Told a story how he had a guy ask why not put everything on him bill said after all these years he knew what he would pack guy was like right put the head on him he would not MOVE took the head off and Benjamin just started off to camp bill said mules are smarter than humans they won’t push more then they can do safely for them
Haha good ol Benjamin! We were already talking about what we would put on Clyde and Reata if/when we shoot a bull this year. It’s pretty sweet to see antler tied on the back as long as you can get them secure and you aren’t in a bunch of brush. If there is any risk of the horns sliding and potentially poking them, you bet I’ll be packing them out on my back ☺️👍🏼 thanks for watching and sharing the story! Mules are pretty awesome and we sure enjoy having them, they are our buddies!

What are using for...firepower ?
Usually Alyssa shoots a 7mm, but on this trip we both used a 300 Weatherby Mag topped with a Nightforce… it’s a pretty sweet setup 😊
Please don't kill the animals .they don't have any chance again a rifles.
We choose to get our meat out of the mountains instead of from the store. If you watched the video you would see that even with rifles it’s not guaranteed at all and a lot of hard work was put in. Having finely tuned rifles and bows is very important, we want the animal to go quickly like this one did. He would have a much worse ending if he had gone in nature. I don’t take what I do lightly and appreciate it wildlife and wild places deeply. ☺️
@@MTN_BUILT please remember the law of return you take some animal. But please put some back to nature. Plant tree. And other natural food sources for animals
