I feel bad for the second guy. Saying he is “easily manipulated” is wild, he straight up had every man in his life including his FATHER all making a concerted and planned effort to basically brainwash and gaslight him. Glad the ex saw that he was abused.

I really hope she did try to warn him, at least once, if she realized before they got divorced.

The narcissistic parent won't see u as an individual worthy of independence or a good life, they see u as an object, a tool to use when they see fit. That's why she was utterly out of her mind with rage when op stood up for herself n didn't fall for her antics. In her mind it's like "how dare my tool sprout legs n walk away from me!?!?" She thinks that since she gave birth to u ur a part of her n should do wut ever she wants. Sadly it's true that u are kind of a part of her but the way the relationship works in her mind is very messed up. Like going as low to try to threaten n ruin her day on her birthday, that date was no coincidence, she was trying to send the message that she doesn't deserve a celebration n that she'll always b there to trample on any sense of self she tries to create despite legal repercussions or anything. Ops grandmother is a real one tho, that's amazing that she has some sane family that helped her set boundaries (despite moms total disregard for them)
Unfortunately those kinds of people should not be parents. But those are the kind of people that will 100% have kids. Because they want someone to control and do thier work for them. If there's one thing I hate when parents do it's off load the younger children on the older one. If you can't handle having more kids yourself then birth control is a thing. And I don't mean like, sister looks after baby when mom takes a shower. Or for the occasional date night for the parents. Or some minor chores. I mean this situation where the sister is more of a mother to her brother then thier own mother is to her. She was raising this child and herself. Not the parents.
Your life does not matter to them so why would you care? the little brother is not your responsibility, if they do not want to hire a nanny and want you to do it instead you were good to get out of there and your grandma is a good woman

Its weird to me that she never said a word about what these men were asking her and the apparent abuse of OP she could see from the outside. Its a team effort to keep a marriage alive and (from this post it seems like) her witholding these informations definitely played a part in the divorce.

He totally owned up to his wrongdoings, let his ex get closure, and accepted the fact that she couldn't forgive him with grace. OP is their child, not their live in nanny, not their 3rd parent, not their slave, she shouldn't be responsible to parent her sibling. I get the parents are busy people but instead of demanding the OP sacrifice her life and future career for her sibling they should think of ways to cut back on their own jobs to actually raise their own son.

I'm at the part where the dad is finally filing for divorce, and the mom was literally planning a kidnapping... I am literally having flashbacks to stories my mom told me about my grandma after my oldest aunt ran away in the 1970s. My grandmother stalked her, would write these awful horrible letters to our family, my aunt's husband, his family, just painting this terrible picture of her...but you know leaving the part out where my grandmother was a raging narc who beat her kids and emotionally abused my grandfather for decades...

Depends on your birthday. I was 14 as a freshman. If she's turning 16 in her junior year, that probably means her birthday was right before the cutoff. There's also the possibility that she skipped a grade

if your mother can’t act the way she is supposed to then i’m sorry but she needs to get some therapy, and first one all if hiring a nanny is ‘too expensive’ if they make their shifts longer they would get more money, so their at fault. second of all, matt is not your son, you aren’t a guardian who should be taking care of him. third of all, your grandma is a great person and i appreciate her for what she did by hiring security, and honestly maybe you shouldn’t be going to therapy?? I hope you feel better, and i hope you can get your mom out of the picture.

i’m glad you cut them out, and maybe she can’t forgive you but that’s okay, because people come and go for a lesson in your life, and she came to give you two lessons “cut off your friends” and “cut off your father and brother” basically saying “cut off the people who hurt you” and that’s a good way for her to help you heal from the abuse, i wish you the best and i hope maybe if God is up to it if you guys can date. goodluck!

For the first story, the daughter may have to accept responsibility in reference to taking care of her brother but she has a right to have a life and a right to live it which is something her own mother has to respect that down the line and sad to say but a no contact order won't allow her to realize that and never will but at least the daughter can live her life without her mom in her life and for the second story the man was beyond manipulated by his own friends and his own father and he had to cut them out of his life and he also lost his wife because of it,sad, dumb and wrong but unfortunate as well and that is something he has to live with whether he likes it or not, let's hope that he can move on from it and hopefully find love again someday, fingers crossed for now though.
