    30 days in Disney!!! Awesome!! You may have already done this, but I would also suggest you getting a rainbird (doesn't really matter the brand) water meter. When I have flushing my black tank I hook up the meter that way I have a pretty good idea of how many gallons of water I have put into the black tank flushing it. That way you can get a really good flush. Of course I generally fill and flush the back tank several times. Great video yet again!! Take Care!! Sean

    • @MidlifeDetour

      Thanks for that tip! I will look into that for sure! I flush the black tank several times, it would be nice to have a meter! Thanks for watching! 😊👍

    I just started watching RVs journey with other CZcamsrs, it's sad that these new RVs are not built good. I see other CZcamsrs with older RVs, have way less issues. Then again, those have less technology in them. I always say, the more technology the more problems in anything, because it's not really tested. A lot of it's done with cheap parts but makes us spend thousands of dollars out the gate.
    I am glad you guys got as much fun staying at the campground. I was going to stay their when I went to Florida this past summer, but the price just to camp near Disney, was a little high. So I went to different campground, not as close to Disney, but cheaper to stay.

      We happen to be at the Fort again for Christmas! The family are big Disney fans and this place has a special draw but for sure spendy.
      One of the aspects we had to weigh purchasing new opposed to old and you make good and valid points. We were told by many when starting our RV journey to purchase a unit that already had to bugs worked out. We went new knowing what we would have to work with but I would love to convert a classic old bus! That seems where the fun would be. Thanks again!

      It’s the best isn’t it? Still one of my favorite places. Hoping we get to spend some time there this holiday season!

  • @TheGrayLifewithJimPearl

    We stayed there for 2 weeks and just loved it. It is the best campground we ever stayed in. The best part is it only took like 15 minutes to go from out camper to Animal Kingdom. Love just being able to hop in the truck and get to a park. Disney transportation is ok, but it eats up a lot of time. We definitely will go back there some day.

      @MidlifeDetour  Před 3 lety +1

      Disney does a great job of making it feel like a campground but with all of the amenities and close to the parks. It was nothing like I expected as I had envisioned rows of rigs lined up as a RV park. We can't wait to go back again!

    Midlife, GREAT video. I love how you also showed the "mistakes" (I put that in quotes as I always look at them as opportunities to learn). Anyway, I have a question for you that you may be able to answer. I have stayed at Fort Wilderness many times over the years. But now that I'm retired, what caught my eye on this video was the title - 31 DAYS! THAT is my dream! And the question is, does Disney have a "monthly rate", or do you just basically pay the daily rate times 31?

    • @MidlifeDetour
      @MidlifeDetour  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Chuck! 31 days just ended up being the magic number for us. Disney does not offer a monthly rate so it is the daily rate. We were surprised at how many people we met that wintered at the Fort and stay 60-90 days annually.

      BIG Disney fans over here! I am a collectors of Disney ornaments as well and I think I need about 3 giant trees just to display them all! 😬 DFW feels like a faraway campground and Disney does their magic to keep it that way! We love that we don’t have to leave our spot to enjoy a great Disney vacation! In a camping setting! ALSO, everyone decorates their sites with lights! It’s beautiful at night! OUR DOGS are pretty fantastic! They are so fun!

      @MidlifeDetour  Před 2 lety

      The Momentum’s back tank was a black / gray mix. It would capture the back bathroom and washer connections. I think we were 20 days into owning the rig at the time of that video and confused at that point for sure. It didn’t make sense at the time to move hoses around. We later found the Y connector for our connection. Thanks for the input and watching!

    Subscribed. Awesome editing and beautiful video! My family couldn't afford Disney hotels, so we would stay at Ft. Wilderness about every two years starting in 1985 with our Starcraft pop-up. The railroad tracks were still around the campground at that time, but later they were covered up with walkways. I never got to see the railroad in action. I do love Ft. Wilderness though. I biked all over there as a kid/teen.

    • @MidlifeDetour
      @MidlifeDetour  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for subbing and the compliment! We hadn't looked up any of the details of the Fort before arriving and pictured it as lines of RVs similar to a RV park for those that travel and also want to visit DW. To this day it is one of our favorites. Feels remote and wilderness sprinkled with that Disney magic. It would have been something to see the railroad in action but I really enjoyed researching its history. We can't wait to get back there this year.

      A LOT! We had already paid and committed to 12 days as we were there for our sons wedding. When our fridge broke this is what kept us there longer. We were waiting for the part to come in for the fridge and kept being promised it was the next day and the days kept stacking! We completely enjoyed the stay but if we had it to do over likely wouldn't turn out the same as the extra days would have bought a whole new fridge! Thanks for watching!
