- Today we are checking out the newest coffee shop in Seattle... run by a robot!
This is the Artly coffee shop in downtown Seattle. I got a chance to talk to the owner of Artly, Joe Yang, about how they made the robot, how it the robot actually makes the coffee and their plans for the future of robotics in the food industry.

The cool thing about this is you don't need to tip the robot. 🤣
You can tell this was a comment left by an American though :)
@@michael7054 Shelby does YT about stuff in American cities so... no shit?
Why would you tip when you're just getting a coffee anyway?!
So true!
@@RachelDex if you got good service then why not toss a dollar bills on the counter ??
Great video! I will try artly later today. Please do more of these videos exploring Seattle!
WRONG. avg. video.
I lived across the street from Joe's coffee shop in Portland during 2020-2021 and it was my go-to spot nearly every day. He's such a sweet guy and it's so cool to see him featured here!
agreed he is so nice! I love his coffee shop!
I live in Seattle and JUST heard about Artly for the first time the other day. It's such a cool concept - thanks for making a video about it!
I love how consistent it is between locations. I got the same drink when I was in Seattle that I get in Portland and it tastes the same.
You are wrong about the sun. Son, look. Sometimes a drink it’s different when uses it affect personal sometimes a drink is better when you have a snowball and sometimes it’s rink it’s not even the same.
Great video shelby! I have no idea how every week you manage to find cool things to make videos about, love your work!
Great video, the tasting at home idea actually was pretty good. Congrats to you and Olivia, footage, editing, everything have been super good
I'm mostly here for your vlogs, but I love your tech videos too! I'm not a tech person but I feel like I learn a lot and it keeps me "in the know"
I love how this was filmed! definitely can see all the effort you put in. Liked, subscribed and notifications on :)
Before even watching, the thumbnail is great! I liked seeing the effort that went into it during the vlog.
You have such a great vibe Shelby. Your"re actually a gamechanger in a state of happiness ❤️
She is that chill, non-judgy friend who's always down for fun stuff
LOVE this video, what a concept! You always do a great job showing me neat stuff I never knew existed. The shop design was very beautiful, I especially thought the order displayed on the counter was a really neat touch. I would like to know more about the employee's experience working there; are they lonely working with robots all day? Do they have more time to connect with the customers? Is it a awkward for them to transition between high-mental-function tasks like troubleshooting to basic stuff like restocking items? What kind of training do they have to do?
Oh My God I just went by this on my way to the light rail! I didn’t have time to stop there so I’ll have to try next week when I come downtown. Definitely will try it out! Thanks for showing us this!
Sooo interesting, beautiful production, fun to watch. Great job!
Nice, Thanks Shelby for sharing this 👍
Shelby another amazing video! Keep it up girl!
Wow, very cool to watch! He needs to bring one to engineering town, Huntsville
YES I love when you do tech videos You have a knack for getting the questions answered that we think of.
i really liked the shelby from hom bits, testing this vs sb and your comment about dishes. those were great
saw this in my subscriptions yesterday and randomly stumbled upon artly today in seattle! it was soooo cool. i love tech and coffee- 2 of my favorite things :') thanks for posting ab this!
Great video!! Love all the details in the editing.
I was amazed to see how gentle the robot's movements were and how it did the latte art, wow! But as you said, it makes sense that the coffee turns out great as it's always following the exact measurements. I personally also don't like dark roast, and with that Starbucks either 🙈So will definitely always opt for specialty cafes with single origin medium or light roast coffee 😍 Loved the video, Shelby 😊
Here to support since you said you thought this video wouldn’t do well 😊 (in your vlog)
Liked 👍 and (already) subscribed.
Incredible video Shelby good job! I know you were worried about it performing but I loved it
Love supporting Shelby…!
Love the exactness of timing and pickup. Plus that human touch is amazing. I'm glad I'm not only one that has tasted burnt coffee at Starbucks!!😅
I don’t usually comment but just wanted to say that the quality of your videos (from an editorial standpoint) is great! Definitely makes your videos stick out in my opinion : )
Love all your videos
Very interesting! I'll be looking for one of these in my area; hopefully, there's one coming soon.
This was actually so cool to watch & learn about!!
You’re outfit of choice was spot on perfect! You looked amazing in front of the coffee shop. Very classy!
Well done video!! I’m surprised we don’t see this in more places. Robot arms have been doing much more complex tasks like building cars for years now.
Great video! I don't know if I missed it, but I don't think you mentioned how much the coffee costs.. would be interesting to know how much they charge compared to Starbucks or other coffee shops. Thank you :)
A cappuccino is $4.95 as of Oct 15, 2022
@@stevefeinstein is that straight from your time machine?
@@markcotter2355 I wish! Just a typo. I think maybe I’ve just had enough of 2022. (Fixed it btw, thanks!)
This was a really cool video, story is interesting and the visuals/concept are spot on 🎯 I loved it! 👏🏻
The latte art is SO COOL!
Shelby, this was a very well done video and very interesting. Who did the editing on this one? Also, nice to see you incorporated the advice from your last vlog at the beginning of this video.
Awesome video! I’ll have to check the Portland location next time I’m there 😊
Very nice video Shelby! Would love to try this coffee!
This is sooo cool omggg!!! It made me so excited as a coffee lover
Great video, the next time I go to Seattle I will try this place. Yes there's one thing that everybody always wants to know is how much everything costs, and how and where do you pay.
Shelby keep up the great work!
Love this video!
Great video! Seems like a really cool experience - way of the future!
I love this concept. But I also love the smiley face the barista did at Starbucks for you. 😊
the robot can make a superficial smile as the coffee art lol
Very interesting. Cool idea. This was a great video. I did not know robots were that advanced.
Very cool. Would love one of these in Dallas!
very interesting concept and great editing!
Reminds me of the cocktail robots in Las Vegas
I definitely enjoyed the video.... I love my ☕️ coffee. I was wondering 🤔how do they handle the morning 🌄 rush hour for ☕️ coffee?
It’s nice to find out that they have one at Stonestown in San Francisco. I’m gonna to try it.
This honestly sounds amazing! I can’t wait to try Artly!!
Well done Shelby!! 😊
I love the way you edited this video! I love the way you edit all your videos but I've noticed you trying some new things and it's great. I'm just starting out, and all I have is an older Surface Pro and the only thing I could find to edit with is Canva, which is super limited. But hey I can afford it (it's free!) and we all have to start somewhere. Thanks for putting your creativity out there.
Great video so much so I went to hit the like button twice.
Loved your video!! Great variety of shots & I think you really captured the experience well. I ordered an ice brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso at Starbucks recently and I think they really over did it on the oat milk and not much coffee flavor. I actually prefer the coffee stand, down the street from my house but they aren't as readily available as Starbucks!
There was a robot coffee shop on Market street in SF a few years ago. It wasn't this safisticated though - I think just basic coffee drinks. Totally on point with the medium roast. I have a super automatic espresso machine and use medium roast - taste much better than dark.
I always love watching your videos! I would give Artly a try if they come to my area (Torrance, CA). I'm glad they have some actual human employees because I wouldn't want to go there if they didn't.
I tried the one in portland months ago it's super slow, not great if you are in a rush. It is very cool to see robot making coffee in action tho~
Hey Shelby I loved this video (: your channel description still says you’re living in LA!
Loving this!!!
Great video Shelby! Very interesting what robots can do :))
Hahahahah gurl the rain. Where is it?!? 75 in October and Smokey.
This is actually very mesmerizing! 😂Thanks for this video 😮
so cool! I definitely want to try Artly if I'm ever near one!
ok i cannot wait to try this
Have you seen the robot manicures that some Target stores have? Wild!
I also brought a latte from Artly coffee, it does taste far better than Starbucks and Peets. Very similar quality to the coffee I made myself at home with semi-auto machines.
Love your videos!
Loved this video. So cool
All your videos are awesome but did anything change camera equipment wise? This one looks really crisp!
Well done 👍 Shelby!
I tried it at Stoneridge mall in Pleasanton. It’s actually really good!
Terrific video!
For anyone with a espresso machine willing to experiment, take a Peet's Major Dickason's Blend K cup. Cut it open. You will find it is espresso ground. Good for double. Use any syrup, foam to make a latte. To me it tastes wonderful.
Awesome content as usual 😉
It's all fun and games until the robot malfunctions and throws scalding hot coffee in your face lol
Great video!
This is pretty cool! I'll have to check out the one in Portland. ☕
Loved this ❤
I love that we’re getting these innovations. But for me, coffee has me made with love.
good job shelby!
Shared it Shelby 👍
Perfect for introverts.
Yes
Love this video
9:47 isn't that what a dishwasher is?
WOW! That's a really cool robot! I would like to have one of those in Maryland!😃❤
At least the uprising will be tasty.
I press like even before watching your videos 😄 your videos are so well made, you are a very interesting and genuine person so the likes are well deserved 👍🏻
Thank you, Shelby! Saw your video with damaged product upon receiving and asking for discount. Happened to me the same with used phone with dent on the case at Best Buy so they got me a 10% discount lol
Hi Shelby, cool video thanks! However, I may have missed it, but did you ever say where this shop actually is located? Seattle is large if one looks for a small shop :)
I would love to see one of these shops in Toronto
Great video Shelby 👍
How interesting! Didn't even know something like this existed.
If you ever get to New Orleans go to Coffee science at 10 broad street. The owner used to be 1/2 owner of a Orleans coffee roasters. The guy is fantastic plus they usually have cool little things going on in their court yard in back.
I can vouche for how much better having a robot is. I am a health inspector in NJ and we recently starting having facilities using robots in their kitchens-> as bar tenders, fryer attendant, at grill. It takes away ALOT of human error AND they are wayyy more sanitary then humans are. You would be surprised at how many food workers never watch their hands
So that's basically like one of those coffee pouring machines in my office.. just fancier and some more coffee options
YOOOO thats sick! Im a Senior Robotics Engineering major and I literally geeked out at this video. at 0:13 that robot barista is from a collaborative robot (cobot) company called Universal Robots, either that is the UR 3, or the UR5. these robots start at around $5k.
thats just for the small UR robots.....they can get upwards of like $75k for big serial manipulators
if you understand the economics of robots, then you will understand that yes, they are expensive upfront. but over the course of many years, they end up paying themselves off because they can work more efficiently and get more work done.
Nice video. I really like the idea. Depending on my schedule, I will prefer the company of the baristas as opposed to the robot. Very informative.
He should definitely franchise this concept!
Some people are going to be against a robot coffee house, too impersonal, hire real people, etc. But there is room for a different concept. I am seeing robot servers at our neighborhood Korean street food restaurants. It is very appropriate and fun. It has a certain vibe and as long as it tastes good , is affordable, and is consistent and reliable it will succeed. Thanks for another fun review/intro to a new concept in coffee houses.❤
Is that robotic equipment available to buy for other people who want to set up cafes in other parts of the country?
