Problems in Spain’s MOST DANGEROUS Slum (I Regret Going!) 🇪🇸

- Inspired by the "dangerous" gyspy slum videos made by PPPeter and Bald and Bankrupt, I decided to investigate Europe's oldest and poorest shanty town - El Vacie in Sevilla, Spain. In order to understand the origin of gypsy flamenco music and culture - you have to understand the origins of where it came from. While my goal is to meet the honest and hardworking people of the barrio (which normally happens), you also expose yourself to certain dangers. My goal is to always show places that people typically wouldn't see, and what I show is the reality of that day - nothing more, and nothing less.

Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 CZcams videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

OMG, don't go to places like that Elliot, Be careful. You are so brave and courageous. Not worth being hurt. Bless you, Elliot.🤗
Amazing man, you are a hero.
You have been told not to go on the other side by the normal gitanos, and you still went there, and then you almost got attacked, if you are that much of an idiot, you should at least armed yourself before visiting the downtrodden criminals.
Europe has fallen😂
It does make me wonder given the dangerous circumstances your are in whether crime is massively under reported in Spain.
Elliot if you want to keep filming in dodgy and dangerous areas there is a golden rule that you should never break. Never ever walk through the same spot a second time, always keep one direction and don't turn back. I know it might sound trivial but it isn't, never give dodgy people a second chance.
Correct!! 👍
He's naive
I read this almost to the letter somewhere else. Got such a weird deja vu feeling my head spun a bit, unusual af. your comment, the poster's 'heart', even the "He's naive" answer. wtf
Elliot please be careful. Some people don’t care if you’re a good guy, please just be careful.
Thanks for your concern.. I uploaded the video, all is good. While I might appear naive, I've done over 20 of these types of videos on my Spanish channel.. This one turned out a bit strange I'll admit.. You'll see in the next video where I go to a objectively more dangerous place but nothing dangerous happens
Gipsys do marry very young!
Not to mention Spains a sh it hole n there not very civilized there i can assure u that, lived there for a lil over 3 years, super backwards many parts of spain n no not the parts u see on TV where the ppl from the UK go to party. ps if u compare Germany to spain n there people there's just no comparison as the german ppl r super intelligent n progressive where spanish ppl for the most part r backwards n violent sadly.
He is NOT a good guy, he is paid to advertise them in positive light, that's how he makes his living being '''influencer''' and '''youtuber''', for speaking lies and having Marxist agenda against all the sane humankind, he covers up criminals, he well deserves it.

This is SPAIN 🇪🇸 ANDALUCIA, SEVILLE nearby.
No one has awareness of what Europe is
Thank you for sharing. Gracias por compartir.
Really glad you recorded this Elliot. Tourists, of course, don't go to these places but my Spanish wife and I have explored them and every other part of 'poor' Spain. Why? Well, we just love and despise all aspects of Spain. I've said before on your channel that there are far to many shows about tapas, the weather, the good times, etc. I left a comment years ago on a CZcams Spanish video about how you could see people in Seville going through bins for food. I've witnessed poverty like it in other parts of Andalucia too. Andalucia has a history of unbelievable poverty and it still exists but authorities do their best to hide it.
The behaviour of the people is fairly predictable, as it is in most poor neighbourhoods. When you have nothing you are the Lord of your Manor and the macho stuff comes to the for. They play to the camera as well of course. Most of these people just want some recognition. There are neighbourhoods in the U.K that are far more dangerous than this but they don't register as exotic gypsy barrios. They're just generations old areas of working class degradation and violence.
Both yourself and Bald have shown how these people just want to be recognised and not deemed to be human garbage and I've found that myself too. In northern Europe it's tougher, not in terms of poverty, but because the resentment and industrial alienation has been built in for so long that anti-social behaviour and violence is truly a way of life.
Cheers. WT
You don't know NOTHING about gypsies. The least trustworthy people I've seen in my entire life. They are richer than you and I, drug dealing to "payos". Not a people to feel sorry about. Maybe for you is a "life experience" to go to some of these dumps. But not for Spanish people.
unbelievable poverty? like having to eat potato skins for breakfast and dinner?
Well he is targetting Gypsy villages, slums. And just bc 1, 2, or 3 of them don't admit that their gypsy, does not mean they are not. The film clips show some of the racism of Spanish society. The roma, Romanos, gitanos, gypsies are really stigmatized there and Elliot, you just trying to make money off of this.
The same thing exists in Latin America, South America- Brazil, Arg., Paraguay and Peru. Just that they aren't so marginalised like in Spain. Lots of them melded and intermarried with the poor in Latin America and just became Peruvians, Argentine working class people. Notice how the Spanish gov just left the woman in the shanty 20, 30 years without receiving an apartment. In their social giles, it always says that they are gypsies.
In Latin America, the prejudice was bad towards them, but they intermarried with everyone. Smaller numbers.
Elliot, why not tell the truth, you are deliberately showing and going to gypsy areas to get exciting vids n docs. Nothing wrong w that just be upfront about it. It gets more views! Just like you vid on the gypsy pickpockets.
@@3-dhistory495I go there because 1 I like all subcultures from a human geographic standpoint - cowboys in America, Mexican farmers and ranchers, Gypsy musicians in Andalusia, or bagpipe players in northern Spain. I like it all and am interested by humans. The second reason I do this is because I don’t like to make superficial “oh wow this is amazing and cheap tourism and the food is great videos when the locals make 1k a month slaving away to Anglo tourists videos” .. that isn’t the reality.. I’ve made HUNDREDS of videos in Spain from Galician culture, forgotten villages, Canary Islands beyond tourism, etc.. it gets to a point where you have to look deeper and offer something that no one has done… because like any business owner, the goal is to grow and make a living off of your dreams. So yes, I do it for money but I also do it out of genuine curiosity .. If I wasn’t curious and genuine, I wouldn’t have made over 300 videos on 2 channels. look at my old videos, the work speaks for itself. Thanks 🙏🏻
@@3-dhistory495one last thought.. why is it the Spanish government and tax payers responsibility to give people free houses? The EU gave millions to Tres Mil viviendas and look what happened to it (see my other video)
I seen a load of gypies ( Bulgarian) once going to McDonald’s in Madrid off a freeway on route to Gibraltar. Must been 12:30 at night, they all lying on the parking bays some sleeping and some just watching me . I’m taking over 100 hundred of them. Proper intimidating ,fearing my van was going to get robbed paranoid as f💩ck. So I decided to forget the coffee, and just get the hell out of there 🙏. Horrible experience I must say.
You were wise to get away from there.
bulgarian here. better to not stick around you never know what will happen if you do and its best not to find out. my best friend is a gypsy but he is one of the kindest people i have ever met as well as his family there is good gypsies and bad gypsies and it all depends on how they are raised
The people in the video are Spaniards not gypsies that’s a racist stariotype of gypsy people
my family has a home in torrevieja and we came there one summer to find romanian gypsies had been squatting in there for several weeks.
You can be poor without acting like they do
They are not white so have low standards for them so you are not disappointed
And you can be rich and act way worse than these people do. 😮
@@paulheydarian1281well of course, I see both sides of the fence. So called "rich" or poor. In fact the so called "rich" often act much worse
@@paulheydarian1281Today in fact is the norm because people used to have no class before the norm was even the poorest and today no one with from a bunch of gypsy(and even before they used did not have before)
I'm from Sevilla. They've received money many times at some point free apartments too, that most of them sold and went back to living this way.
They get free education but don't want it.
They get pretty much everything for free as there programs for the inclusion of gipsy people into the society but still choose to sell drugs and guns.
Am I wrong to feel that you betrayed that child's trust? He showed you around with an open heart and in good faith, and protected you from what he saw as imminent danger. A small token to say thank you would have done no harm and would not have gone astray considering he is so poor and has absolutely nothing. It may have even been an inspiration to him to get something going of his own some day. The shock & pain on his face at the end was unbearable.
I feel you are right. At least 5 euros and done...
I agree.. but giving the kid money in front of others would’ve started a commotion , trust me. So I gave it to the adult. I didn’t wanna pull out money in front of a lot of people.
@@AdventureElliot Ah Ok. I get it.

I’m from Sevilla and lived in los pajaros neighbourhood, one among the most deprived in the city.
Those people don’t want integrated in society, not aspirations lead to alienating. The guy complaining about paying bills instead to seek job tell you something.
Outcast sort of people that try to robe you in the end.
Same in some areas in Portugal.

I agree with you.. but I can guarantee you no strangers will go there. These people need to learn social education and norms OUTSIDE of the barrio in school and in public. They literally live in another world.
@@AdventureElliot/Elliot, they like to live in the fringes of society

@@AdventureElliotI like to write about the dark side of places like Seville. I was in Seville a few days ago and didn’t realise how close I was to los 3000 viviendas. I walked beside the Kansas highway to the train station and witnessed no gypsy activity. I wish I knew beforehand what was there. I would have been more attentive.
If they attack you, and steal from you, you're getting what you fully deserve. You shouldn't have been there, and you know it. You're a total idiot!!! Typical American

Education is so spectacularly important.
Bingo
THEY ARE UNFITTED FOR NORMAL SOCIETY.
Yes but they don't want it.
This was an experience no one gets, increible!
I know what the Spanish lady is saying, and it happens all over the world. The councils award money to private companies, who then ensure that such money only covers profit and expenses, but not the service they have been paid for, or there is nothing left to provide that service to a reasonable standard of what is needed.. That system has failed. The money should then be accountable to anyone that asks where it has been spent that we can all see BUT you are met with a great silence!, even in UK .
I remember back in 1985 I was 10 years old being born in Australia by spanish parents we went to bilbao to visit family and the culture shock of dealing with some of the gitanos was overwhelming..some were good some were well let's just say I wasn't ready for some of the shifty antiques they can pull on you..was close to blows with some of them..but overall they were nice to me being the spanglish (aussie spaniard ) I am..lessons learnt there for sure
Gypsies in english
They have no intention of integrating...

Great video, I'm going to Sevilla this year but I think I'll skip that part.
You'd be missing out on the cultural enrichment.
All of Sevilla is ugly if you want a nice vacation go to either the USA 🇺🇸, Australia 🇦🇺, Canada 🇨🇦, South Korea 🇰🇷 or Japan 🇯🇵 any other country is awful
@chinglee100 I've seen a lot of America and have no desire to go back and Australia never appealed to me, I love India but I'll probably stick to Europe from now on it has everything.
Wow! You are brave! I would get scared when they started getting loud if I were in such a place. Gypsies are loud. Their environment seems livable if organized and the trash is cleaned out regularly.

OURSELVES. DEAR GOD
I’ve lived in Guatemala and Chiapas, Mexico for the past 7 years as an American retiree, female, traveling solo. I always live in “el centro” with locals as that’s where the affordable rents, authentic food and good people are found. I share money and food freely when able, occasionally regretting a decision to hand out money but generally happy to share and spread the love.
You are a generous person Cynthia. A few among the many. I cannot fathom other ppl just ignoring mendicants. Giving food would be great.
The tour guide kid that showed you round deserved payment. He trusted you to tip him. Felt for him. Bloody dangerous there! 😳
Even Seville is dodgy. The pickpockets there are brazen. They even hit a tour group I was with visiting the Alhambra. While the tourists are gawking at the archetecture, their pockets are being picked. We ran after one but he had a getaway car waiting across the street. Motorbike theives are a danger there. They will drive between stopped cars in traffic and snatch purses from open windows of cars, then speed-off.
You are exactly right brother.. Never give them a penny. If you hand one 5 dollars, then they will bringing their kids and grandmas to ask for more money. They see it as an open invite to demand more. I learned this lesson living in the Philipines. You give one person $5, then you have 20 others demanding $200. It's one the reasons I left there. Ungrateful and demanding, under false pretence's... Very sad to see this. I found it much more rewarding in my final year there to pay scholarships for hardworking kids who couldn't afford university. At least they worked their butts off and were truly grateful.
Very good.
Dude we have lived in Andalusia for 14 years and I have never seen anything like this. First time finding your channel and I will go through your Spanish videos first. I have to say your Spanish is excellent my friend and at the end of video we were on that bridge last summer.

this isn't just being poor. It is a collective mentality. How are you as a person going to lift yourself up and take responsibility if your parents also show lack or responsibility. Andalucia is a beautiful and extremly peaceful place and nobody will make problem for you - trust me . Because the police there are not to be messed with - they have automatic rifles and do not hold back. Please - i think this exact area is very very out of societys reach and somehow the laws reach.. I feel like the interactions in your videos would come across a lot more genuine and organic if you weren't directly translating almost everything that is said directly into the camera. You already use subtitles for your viewers to be able to follow the conversation, so I don't see the need for it. If I were a local, I wouldn't feel engaged in conversation with someone who flips the camera around every other sentence to talk to an invisible audience. Perhaps I'm on my own in this and you can dismiss the criticism, but it may be worth considering to just let the conversation flow naturally and summarise your impressions of everything that's said after the conversation ends, or when you're walking alone for a moment through these parts.
Edit: I noticed when I was nearing the end of the video that you already do the latter, so great work! I'd say that suffices to keep your non-Spanish speaking audience in the loop of what's going on.
What rings true to me also, is that the magic of camera technology is that it's best used as a portal through which someone can experience another place at another time as if he or she was personally there. When you flip from a POV to a view of yourself talking into the camera every ten seconds or so, that feeling of witnessing something with your own eyes will never be there. I understand that you can't film this type of content in a way where that'll always be there or even be there most of the time, but sticking with a single camera view for an extended period of time could enhance the viewer experience in that way.
I agree with your criticisms.. This is a result of me doing hundreds of videos where I spent tens to hundreds of hours doing subtitles.. So what happens is many people lose patience because anglo english speakers are lazy when it comes to different languages. The immersive aspect you mention is something that people like you and I like. As far as the locals, I am engaging them but you're not seeing everything on camera because I cut many parts. Here's a more immersive video where I don't flip the camera so much: czcams.com/video/fkTjMBZuerQ/video.html
