Damn, I got convinced after watching a Vtuber play almost religiously. Glad I hopped in with the XBox crowd, so many updated guides.
A lot of really suburb information here that you don't get very often from other guides. Especially all the Chocobo stuff. A lot of guides kinda skip over this stuff because it might not be relevant to being efficient, but sometimes being efficient isn't the "be-all end-all." Your snack example is perfect. Sure, it's probably way faster to just fly yourself, but being able to get a snack while auto-piloting is an asset.
Same with the Choco Companion. it might be "More efficient" to level with just Dungeons or POTD, But sometimes it's good to mix it up and not just spam the same type of content over and over. Something FATEs while you're waiting in a DPS queue, or you're multitasking and don't want to 100% focus on the game. The Chocobo Companion helps out a ton in this regard.
watched, liked, and commenting for lord algorithm!
You are so sweet💗🥺
I’ve been playing FF14 for about 2 years and some of these guides STILL help me today lol 😂
I didn't even know you could lock the map... very good video as usual, thanks Aitherea.
thank you i’m still learning all of this with my friend!
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Ur hard work doesn’t go unnoticed! Been playing for a year and learned some new stuff.
Great guide. Thank you, Aitherea. A big thanks to the community as a whole too! I have never played a game in which the vets habe so much patience for a noob😊
The video says it's a beginner's guide but glamour is the endgame of FFXIV.
You can use glamour starting at level 15! c:
@@Aitherea Oh, I know. There's just a running joke among players that glamour is the *true* endgame of FFXIV.
A running joke?
I thought it was the truth?
gpose too!
Im not an xbox player but ive played FFXIV a while i just subbed cos i love your glamours and outfits your char wears and your commentary is soothing and videos are nice to watch even though i already know all this info 😊
This was so helpful I was so confused with the glam and I thought I had to use the fantasia to change my hair color I'm so glad I saw this before getting it
Great video as always! Glamour dispellers can be purchased in the residential zones (apt merchant).
I loved a lot of the glams you used! I hope you'll consider doing an updated glam showcase vid.
oooh those housing merchants have a lot of free shit tbh. Like, if youre decorating you should always check them first! and gosh, showcasing what kinds of glams? just what's on my plates right now?
@@Aitherea For the glams, yes please. You had a lot of great ones today. Plus maybe any other new or fav ones since your last glam vid.
There is a set of quests in Tailfeather, that gives the onions as well as fruits, which can be used to feed/train/dye your chocobo ❤
The beast tribe is what you're talking about, but I don't think they give the onions, just training foods 🤔. I would have to double check to be certain but they'd probably be cheaper if that were the case 😅
@@Aitherea They mean side quests in Tailfeather, not associated with Gnath tribe vendor/quests themselves. ^^
@@ateezinx6448 huh, I didn't know that was a thing because the beast tribe actually does have some chocobo food xD
Great video, I linked this to a friend that just picked up the game again. I'll also add that glamour plates can be applied in any rested area. Not just a city, so any time you see a moon icon next to your XP bar. There is also the recommended gear button, which is the icon in the character window with the sword and shield and two stars next to it. It puts on the best gear you have in your armory chest for whatever job you're on. (There's exceptions when it comes to certain pieces of content, but it's good for most cases/scenarios)
See I didn't know what to call the areas where you can apply glam because I know you can apply it in the small towns and stuff too, so I kinda just referred to everything as a city xD but that's perfect!
I've been playing for almost 3 years now, and if there's one thing I haven't done, it's unlocking the chocobo porters. I have only unlocked a few. For some reason I actually enjoy just strolling (or flying) within different areas, and sometimes I refrain using teleporting, if there's a cheaper way to get where I want and I'm close to it (not counting all the free teleporting). For example, you can get to Limsa Lominsa from Vesper Bay in Western Thanalan by boat, and it only costs little bit of gil, whereas teleporting to Limsa Lominsa while in Western Thanalan costs hundreds of gil. This can become even more apparent after getting to Stormblood and Endwalker.
maybe the chocobo porter is for you then! it's a diff kind of stroll as they tend to run along the paths. But it's really nice for snacks c: sometimes i wish theyd take longer so i have longer to snack before i have to go back to controlling my char xDD
Also as a reminder once you attune to all the small aetherites in a city it also unlocks the ability to teleport to that city's airship landing and outside the city's gates
There’s a way to do the walk backwards on controller, but it requires a hard lock on to something, otherwise your just running in the other direction
Good video, good glams, lovely voice. 👍
I do wanna mention you can also get glamour dispellers from NPC vendors, notably from Bango Zango in Limsa, Maisenta from Gridania, and their Ul'dahn counterpart - I forget the name. IMO it's the better option for buying dispellers.
I'm in Endwalker and I didn't even know about the ability to hold down control to show Aetheryte icon on top of anything else that might otherwise be blocking it. 🤣Thanks for teaching me something new! 😄
I will say that for newer players who are on the xbox or playstation, they won't necessarily have a mouse/keyboard connected, and therefor any of the buttons to press that you mentioned won't actually apply to them. Other than that, this is a great guide and I'll definitely think about your guide first if I'm linking a beginner's guide to new players. 😄Good job! 👍
unfortunately i dont think there is an equivalent for that on controller :c
@@Aitherea Perhaps not, but there may be a workaround for it. Since I'm on pc and don't use a controller, I wouldn't know 😅
Your glams 👌
I've played the entire MSQ. I've done savage raids and extremes and solo deep dungeons.
I did not know you could set favored teleport destinations.
best beginner tip: stay far far away from Reddit and the forums. Half of what is there is toxic, and the other half is incorrect.
I would have said that the Glamour Dresser allows you to glamour the retainers and yourself for free, without the need of using another Glamour Prism for the piece, that way you can save a lot of money since a dispeller of glamour is really cheap to buy contrary to the other one.
Great tip! I should mention it costs a prism to place an item into the dresser, but you're right that it's free to glam using the dresser once the item is in there. c:
It would have been helpful for me if someone had told me that for example a warrior is ALWAYS a tank.
Back in the days i came from games were a warrior is mostly a DD with the option to off tank and i was so confused why players in dungeons told me i have to tank and i was like "but i dont want to D: "
At my beginning i really choosed warrior as starter job cause i wanted to start slow as a melee dd xD
technically everybody is a dd because you are expected to solve some hundred quests solo.
Everyone glosses over this one.
Ahem* Aetheryte Tickets. You can get Aethery Tickets by exchanging Allied Seals or Centurio Seals.
First Allied Seals with your Huntbill master at your specific Grand Company.
Second a vendor at the Forgotten Knight Inn in Ishgard.
You can earn Allied Seals by doing ARR Hunts on the huntboard there at the grand company or by doing Blue Mage's Masked Carnivale. (which you unlock both relatively around the same time you beat the first half of ARR)
You can earn Centurio Seals by doing both HW and Stormblood hunts (but only the HW vendor will give you aetheryte tickets)
Doing this easy and daily content I might add will let you rack up enough of these currencies for unlimited free travel for as long as you do them. Very very very easy to get enough of these.
Aetheryte tickets are great! I always just wonder if the hunts/blue mage thing is a little too confusing/overwhelming for someone whos maybe first starting and hasn't even quite figured out how the grand company system works. Plus, you get 100 aetheryte tickets to start off so I think there's time c: We also get plenty of gil, so farming those things is a *choice*. Still, it's good to know about!
@@Aitherea Is it a 100 now? That's impressive. I heard they had increased the number. It's definitely something that you shouldn't learn right away but I'd say almost conveniently that around level 50 when you would be completing the first part of the MSQ and unlocking the hunt and the Blue Mage quests at least being natural in terms of expanding a players horizon. They may not try Blue Mage out of the gate but personally I couldn't resist the allure of "hunting" things as a noob. So I did them without thinking of the reward. Plus it's part of advancing in your Grand Company anyways far as ARR is concerned which opens up even more benefits like glamour prisms.
As well as Squadrons though sadly abandoned. That one is a bit more complex to explain but if you did squadrons far enough you get special rewards for squadron missions that give EXP buff scrolls of 15% for gathering, crafting or battle.
@@NotTheWheel i feel like grand company is absolutely something that should not be overlooked. it's luckily pretty easy and straightfoward. Blue mage is so fun but it is genuinely an entire rabbit hole to go down so it's one of those things that's really just up to player exploration. Some people literally get all jobs to 50, do all side quests, etc before continuing to HW, whereas others focus on the MSQ and maybe only do a few other unlocks. hunts arent too hard though and it's not bad to do at least the weekly one. by the time they actually care about it they'll have more currency for rewards xD
I’m not a beginner but I still watched the whole video😫 help me someone
Renting a Chocobo after reaching lvl 10 helps with several quests when lvln
I'ma be honest, my first city state back when i started playing was Ul'dah because i wanted to play Paladin and i do not understand how ppl find Ul'dah to be such a confusing place to navigate. Lmao xP
its a solo game for me now… so im just gonna get the tales of adventure…i seriously cant play friggin catch up with everyone anymore…gotta play my way.
Please don't worry about trying to "catch up" with anyone. The story is amazing, and worth marinating in it. There are *so many* players on every DC and world I've been on willing to help newer players with older content, it's really ok to take your time. You won't be missing out on anything, as most of FF14's content is kept evergreen, so you can just explore at your own pace.
There's no need to catch up! Play at your own speed, enjoy the msq and anything else that intrigues you. This game is all about the journey!
I have nothing to contribute so instead I'll just point out that I enjoy your au ra's eyes being two slightly different tones, and I'll let that be my pound of flesh to lord algorithm.
whats the hairstyle at 20:44? Thanks in advance
Samsonian locks c:
Only gripe i see is its all m&k .. no controller equiv ... otherwise its a great guide
Most of the stuff in this guide isn't really about keybinds or things so it should be useful regardless of what you play on. I don't play on controller so it's hard for me to know what kind of stuff would be useful to a controller player. For general controller navigation I know others have absolutely made guides c:
Most of the controller guides are for the PS4 controller, but I think the controllers should be similar enough that it'll help.
I've switched to PC now but if you have any controller questions I can try and help (played on PS4 for a few years). Also in the menu you'll be able to see your controller key binds so that might help as well. Also remember that the skills hotbar (the default diamond shaped one) was created with controller in mind. You'll find the game is surprisingly controller friendly (for an MMO)
Free trial players csn do the grand company quest? Im LV40 got nothing only do main, blue quests.
Yes, you can do grand companies; these are not the same thing as free companies which you cannot join (FC = player run guild). In the msq, you will visit 3 ceremonies, one in each city, then when you are talking to minfilia in the waking sands, 3 representatives come to talk to you. At that point is where you choose a grand company -- immortal flames, twin adders, or the maelstrom.
@@Aitherea Thank you..
