- I've been playing FFXIV for a few years now, and these are some of the useful "shortcuts" I've picked up along the way that I now use pretty much every time I log in and play. I hope these can be helpful to you! c:

"ew he's winking at me disgusting" killed me lol
First time I see someone that explains a focus target. Useful.
(Edit after using it as healer.)
It makes healing much more easier. I focus in the tank and put the window 200% in the middle. Top. And if you click on it, it selects the tank.
On Playstation controller, X is how you target the closest NPC. It's what I use 100% of the time. Press X again to confirm and talk to them. The only limitation is it's line of sight, so if the NPC isn't in your field of view, nothing will happen or you'll end up targeting a different NPC.
The "/hotbar change #" and "/chotbar change #" really opened the UI for me. First will change your hotbar 1 element to whatever number you choose, and I use this for combat, mainly to swap to an aoe layout. So with BRD for example, I have straight shot and quick knock on the same key depending on which bar is currently active, along with other skills that share the cooldowns. This greatly reduces both button bloat as well as visual clutter.
For the cross hotbar, chotbar, I have a separate normal bar with 1-8 and I use this for the majority of my click-on, which gives me access to an additional 8x11 shortcuts (minus 1 for a macros themselves) in a clean and compact way. I have a bar dps, support, and crafters/gatherers, with the extra spots for food and other useful things to have on hand.
The last one I want to add is my theme job swap, because I like having a specific title, minion and mount for each job.
/gearset 1 1 (second number is glamour plate if you want)
/title "heart of the party"
/minion "wind-up airship"
/micon minion "wind-up airship" (looks nicer than a white icon)
super helpful. particularly as someone just learning Healer. the focus target & 't' shortcut among others. THAAAANKS
Very useful video, thank you!
another one i use in specific situations is numpad 5. it locks your camera onto a target and makes your movement relative to that target. so if you need to circle a target quickly you can just press that and then press a or d to circle them. left stick click is the default for controller.
Target filters can be set up on controller so that you press a button combo (like L1 + o) to only cycle thru npcs/objects, for example. It’s in character config-> control settings-> filters.
As far as I know NUMPAD 0 is just controler's generic confirm button, you can use it for so many things, tageting npcs/interactable objects (doors / quest objects / destinations), interacting with selected npc/object, advancing dialogue, confirming menu popups (sadly some popups defaults to cancel button focused instead of confirm). I have it bound to f key and use it all the time. By the way NUMPAD 2, NUMPAD 4, NUMPAD 6 and NUMPAD 8 function as d-pad for menu navigation.
Some really good tips in here.
I use the hide UI for taking screen shots in the MSQ because it removes texts too
You can do tilt on controller, it's in the settings and can also make a macro for it. Just if anyone needs it. I played FF14 on keyboard for ages through ARR and HW especially but tbh controller is really good and it's just because the game was designed around controller. Both work really well though in all honesty.
I actually keybound turning all sound off to CTRL+S. WHen I do stuff that doesn't require a lot of thinking, I just put a video on, turn off the game sound and do my thing
LS works on Xbox for dismount and dropping as well. Found that out after playing an fps where LS was sprint and did it accidentally in FFXIV 😂
the hud layout one, i use something like that but i went farther with it and set one up for healer, one for dps and one for tank. the only difference really is the healer one has the party list bigger and more toward the center of the screen and the dps one has the party list smaller and on the side of the screen.
[/roleplaying] for roleplay tag and [/nas off] to turn off the sprout near your name. I use the latter for my alts.
/bgm was clutch omgggg
Hey! I'm a new FF14 player and I've come across your channel and I really like the format of your videos is there a possibility you'd be doing a video on things to do to prep for the release of Dawntrail?
Depends on what you do.
One more: battle effects. Most people like them on, but they're not practical to have on full for most for 8 man and 24 man duties. You can type /bfx off to kill them entirely, or /bfx party simple to have them on limited mode, and then /bfx all to turn em back on.
honestly there are so many chat shortcuts in this came that i dont know about. That's awesome!
I like to hide UI when I’m doing something unsync to grind a relic weapon or help a lower level FC friend. I can really admire my character. I tend to use a job that doesn’t proc like MCH, any healer besides AST, or any tank. You can do this with any job that doesn’t require optimal gameplay. Good luck picking up objects and opening doors haha
i actually like using the /hotbar display macro. i enjoy hiding hotbars 5-10 and i put less used things on those hotbars. like my mounts. or other shortcuts i dont use often and my jobs ect. either way alot of these were nice and helpful
I use a controller because the keyboard in the long term causes pain in my wrists, it's serious. But other than that, your tips were very useful and I deeply appreciate them...
Where u get the hair style ?
/bm is actually sheathe/unsheathe weapon. The same thing Z does.
ooh the background music chat command was neat! are there abbreviations for the other sounds too? like voice is VO or something like that?
I wouldn't be surprised if there were but I don't know off the top of my head. If you go into the macro maker and start a new one, you can see text commands menu at the bottom. When you click on them they have explanations of what they do and how to use them, so that'd be where to look.
good news, I found a guide on the official eorzea database! all the info is under text commands info :) @@Aitherea
I know /mastervolume works but idk about the others. Can't remember if it worked as just /mv or not though.
I’ve cleared TOP and DSR multiple times and there’s still the littlest things on this game I don’t know about that could be absolutely beneficial to my gameplay 😭
whats the bottoms called? love your glamour
I love how far you zoomed out, idk why but every MMORPG I play I want to zoom out as far as I can. But mine looks nothing likes yours, did you use *cough cough* some different “services” to get yours to zoom out more?
no, not at all. my zoom is just the max the game will allow. the only "mod" I use for the game is nvidia filters which do not affect zoom, only changes the colors and sharpness of the game.
@@AithereaIf you don't mind me asking, which settings do you use for your Nvidia filters?

My shortcuts have been sacrificed to the many buttons I have as whitemage.
And before anybody gets smart! YES we have more buttons than Glare and medica2 >:Y
Oh yes, that one extra button called Raise.
there is also /follow It allows you to follow someone. Great to follow the party.
I hold Alt to make everyone’s name vanish and only NPCs selectable.
Im gonna sound really stupid asking this but is Descend/Dismount/Draw/Sheath all from the letter Z? Ive never used macros before xD
Yes, and it's not a macro, it is just the default hotkey on keyboard that does all of those things.
@@Aitherea Ah i see, thanks for the reply!
As somebody who's just started on ps5, invest in a mouse and keyboard. I play 99% of my games controller but the control scheme on controller from this game is honestly terrible and I could barely figure out what I was doing.
I'm realizing a lot of these default keybinds don't work for me lol. Anything around the WSAD region is keybound for combat. My Autorun is always Tilde in game. R is waay too important for when as a hotkey. Z is usually my Sprint or speed boost in games. Just like the Character Window being "C" is Kinda waste. i don't need quick access to my character window, so it's usually "," So 1-4, Q-R, and Z-V if any games non combat functions are bound to those, time to get the boot to somewhere more to the Right xD
Aktchually... I don't use defaults either xD
do you have a video showing off your keybinds? that would be interesting@@Aitherea
May I ask what kind of pants these are? :>
eastern lady's loincloth from the far eastern garb for women on the mog station.
@@Aitherea I see why i didnt know those pants exist xD Thank you !
wait a minute... you're from MALBORO?! @_@
Marlboro gang best FC
Sexy glam 👀 I'm sure these tips will be helpful :3
/bm means “battle mode”
The best way to play FFXIV is controller and keyboard
"Hud" is an acronym, so saying the letters is fine.
Heads
Up
Display
bm = battle mode.
First
you can exploit a
/bm
/sit
macro to activate weapons glow without drawing them. if you use it the system activates the weapon draw animation and weapon glow but interrupts the animation with the sit animation if you than move before the sit animation is finished your weapon glow will be permanently activated without drawing it. works with every crafted/savage/ultimate/relic weapon which has a glowing effect ^^
Completely unrelated but have you ever considered doing ASMR videos? Part of why I enjoy your content is your very soothing and relaxing voice. Listening to it feels like silk.
I actually do have an ASMR channel xD
yeah she made an ASMR channel for that exact reason haha
DISGUSTING?! WOW
