ABOUT: Universe Sandbox 2
Universe Sandbox ² is a physics-based space simulator that allows you to create, destroy, and interact on an unimaginable scale.
It merges real-time gravity, climate, collision, and material interactions to reveal the beauty of our universe and the fragility of our planet.
Universe Sandbox ² includes the desktop version and a VR mode with support for the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift+Touch, and Windows Mixed Reality.
Simulate Gravity
N-body simulation at almost any speed using Newtonian mechanics. Real science, real physics, no supercomputer required.
Collide Planets & Stars
Epic, mind blowing collisions of massive planetary bodies that leave behind molten craters.
Create Your Own Systems
Start with a star, then add a planet. Spruce it up with moons, rings, comets, or even a black hole.

Fun fact! There used to be stars as big as galexys in the early universe, and their lifespans were incredibly short due to their size. They supernova, make a supermassive black hole, and the supernova debri feild gets captured by the black hole and swirls around it. The debri eventually creating new much smaller stars, and planets, and us ^,^
Actually, a Star of this size wouldn't even be killed by his own supernova.
I thought stars this big weren't even possible because neutron stars which are a step away to become a black hole are nowhere that big. I thought anything bigger would just collapse on itself and become a black hole... but a galaxy sized star is crazy to even imagine
@@RafaelMunizYT stars at all shouldn't be able to exist. They should collapse into a white dwarf/neutron star/black hole. The reason why they don't is because they have something planets don't have: active support. Because of the heat an pressure inside thier cores, fusion happens, which creates radiation that pushes outwards, stopping the collapse. In a way it's like a super tall building that should crumble under its own weight, so you add massive engines to the side of it and have them running 24/7 to stop the building from going down.
@@RafaelMunizYT of course a star the size of the milky way let alone the universe would be completely impossible physics would simply not allow that. That would just turn into a black hole something with the mass of a small galaxy and the size of the whole solar System out to the orbit of pluto would however work. That would be a black hole star.
@@jebkerman5422 it's still hard to imagine a galaxy sized star. the biggest star known to us is nowhere near 0.1% of a light year in size. now imagine a star with over 50 THOUSAND light years in diameter

The Sun is turning blue in the game because it's 10 fold bigger than normal Sun, but still 1.25 sun masses. To make it hot, he needs to make it heavier or denser.
Cooool
Well, generally stars are blue because they are hotter. It means it is admitting shorter wavelength light, which is more energetic, and therefore hotter. I don't know why this star tuns blue in this case though.
Did any of you take 8th grade science? Blue stars are hotter and die quicker because they exhaust their hydrogen first (see: the hr diagram) and the red stars last longer because they are cooler and fuse hydrogen slower. Thats why red galaxies are “dead” galaxies because they only have red stars left and no new ones are being made
@@skylarkesselring6075 "generally stars are blue because they are hotter."
Wrong link. Both color and temperature are the results of the fusion speed. And it can change with its age.
But the color is not specifically linked with the temperature. Stars can appear as blue for two reasons:
- their fusion speed. Blue stars tend to be younger and hotter because they are burning their hydrogen violently fast, but tend not to live for very long.
- they are drifting toward the Earth: the wavelenght is compressed. Its visible light shifts toward the blue end of the spectrum, which is why it’s known as a "blueshift".
@@Shirosagi Well yes I understand how Doppler Shift works, but in this example, at least in this game, I don't believe Doppler Shift is taken into account, especially since he is an observer who's right next to the star and its color is independent of his location relative to the movement of the star.
When you put radius that high without changing the mass what you get is essentially a massive cloud of gas
True. There are massive cloud galaxies 10 times larger than Milky way or Andromeda we know about.
I had a suspicion that the reason the sun kept disappearing is because a star's amount of mass across that radius would make it practically non-existent.
I do like how the game always has this moment before it goes "wait, that's illegal" and just deletes whatever's violating physics.

Gray:lets make the sun as big as the orbit of Venus
I have a feeling god watches gray to get ideas
G means Giga
Ķ = Kilo = 1,000
M = Mega = 1,000,000
G = Giga = 1,000,000,000
So 16484 G years is over 16 trillion years. Enjoy
@Itzansril I've gotten to the point where I don't know if you are being sarcastic
iik i am i learned it in school but thx anyways
@Itzansril He was just giving us info, wtf? *You* must be fun at parties
Googolplex- 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000-
Jk.
16.484 trillion
Florida: summer and hot summer
Michigan: winter and construction
Michiagan: Winter and construction
Illinois: Winter, winter, cold winter, and rain.
Fist time Michigan is mentioned
Ohio: I c e
Yeah
Florida has a ton of construction too. They've been working on i4 since before I was alive
"It sucks because it's too small for my purposes" that's what she said
I respect that we've reached units measured in "milky"
"you can't drink the 24 pack all at once. You gotta start slow" yeah, tell my dad that lol
Would tell my dad too, lol.
You got 24 likes. Not at once though, so your point holds
If he ever came back I'd say that
@@jacebaker3785 This joke is overused.
I mean, it's still funny, but it's overused.
@@phillippeng1368 well I'm here to stay crusty and search for other crusty people :3
HOLY CRAP!!!! You turned the Sun into a Magnetar
the prepper it’s the most magnetic object in universe and one of the densest as well it truly a sight to be hold. It’s similar to pulsar blitsar and white a red dwarfs I believe in its creation as they are made from failed super novas from red giants
@@Space-wq3cr So a neutron star colapsed while a magnetar dosent?
@@thebrainless1 A Magnetar is just a type of neutron star, except it has to collapse in just the right angles in which to develop a spin that can generate a significantly higher amount of electromagnetic radiation than any neutron star.
@@lsfaraone Hm. So its a rare and powerful occurance. Thanks for the clarification.
@@lsfaraone education!
When he said “News flash big sun hot” is a really big understatement because of the fact that it is TWICE THE SIZE OF A GALAXY
”Call me Santa cuz I’m-”
*the sun turned completely dark*
” Well that aint good.”
Everyone: I guess we were wrong. Video games don't cause violence!
Gray: **maniacal laughter**
Make the sun so big that it touches every star that ever existed
Impossible
Possible
@@heypca9018 you have to think of it though, it is impossible
@@snakeknot7 i mean, make a big but not dense sun
@@snakeknot7 you mean not probable
for people who want to recreate gray's giga sun easily, decrease density until the radius increases to the milky-way's size and set the rotation speed to 0 and then set the mass to 1 galaxy, done
I'd like to see what that massive sun would look like from the perspective of our place in the milky way galaxy haha
