Backpacking The Grand Canyon - Hermit Loop

- Hey guys!
Join Darwin (Darwin on the Trail) and me on a trip into the Grand Canyon via the Hermit Loop. This trip took place in mid-April 2022 so the weather was cool on the rim and scorching in the canyon. I brought way too much gear because I was expecting colder temps and didn't realize the temperature difference between the rim and the bottom of the canyon. Good times were had regardless!
Enjoy!

Amazing views, Ajay! And once again top-notch music choices…I loved it all!
Thanks Barb!
Minnesota boy does good…again. Thanks from South Dakota. 👍🏻
Thanks Kevin!
Killer, beauty shots. Sweet hike.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for tuning in Mark, it was a great hike!
What a great video! Amazing! Really liked your 2022 gear video too.
Thanks Robert!
Seriously can’t believe the scenery here. Great video as always.
Thanks Joe, we'll have to get out for another one soon!
@@juicehikes5436 Indeed!
Awesome video! Granite Rapids is one of my favorite spots along the Colorado in Grand Canyon NP. Next time your at Indian Gardens you should definitely hike out to Plateau Point. It is 3 miles round trip from Indian Gardens but well worth it. That Tonto trail is wild, you have to travel 3 or 4 miles just to go 1 mile east or west as you navigate around the canyons coming down ( I know I'm not explaining it well but you know what I'm talking about)
Thanks for watching Richard! We were planning on hiking out to Plateau Point but had some things come up that limited the time we had in the canyon.
Another great journey in the books! Well done. Enjoy my home hiking area…my favorite place to hike ever…
Thanks Mike, it's a pretty epic place? You getting out on many adventures these days?
I think I remember that last mile is referred to as Jacob's Ladder. Good to ya!
It's a good one! The views are pretty incredible the whole way.
Views on the Colorado look epic! Nice trip!
Thanks for tuning in!
Just bought those hokas-- great, wide foot bed
Where did you find them? Hoka discontinued the Evo Speedgoats last year.
@@juicehikes5436 oh, I should have taken a better look. Mine are bondi 8 Hokas. I have Morton's neuroma in my right foot from wearing Salamons for over a decade. Salamons run narrow and over time, like braces on teeth, compact the space between your feet bones--trapping and pinching nerves. It's an intermittent and excruciating pain. Only wide footbed shoes prevent the pain for me. I'm 55, learn from my mistake --always have good arch support and an ample footbox that is not narrow on your foot. Remember the braces analogy. Once the damage is done there is no going back.
Got it! I agree, I wore Salomon's for years and they messed up my feet. The Speedgoats are what works for me!
So I guess this is how we will now get videos of Darwin, lol.
Haha, we'll see.

Thanks for posting lighterpack , how do you handle without bug net on the tarp ?
It depends on where I'm going and the time of year. Many times a bug net isn't necessary. If I do expect bugs I'll bring the Sea To Summit Nano Pyramid net which fits well inside the tarp and can be attached easily.
The views look amazing!! ....except the one where you're breaking camp and Darwin gets his arse out. I had it on 0.25x speed so could watch you break down/pack LMAO!! :D
Thanks for watching Adam! Darwin does his best to ruin most shots lol.
@@juicehikes5436 Thanks for sharing. Love watching you guys vids. You're so lucky to have such a wide variety of wilderness and terrain. Some awesome places in Britain but pales in comparison to the choice in US.
Yeah I noticed Darwin seems to love winding you up with your shots when you film 😂
Thanks Adam, yeah we are pretty spoiled here as long as you have the means to travel.
He is outdoor rec mgr BLM AZ STRIP. Jon Jasper. I do North Side only Toroweap. Mount Trumbull. Mount Logan Wilderness.
North Rim you can't see the river. Toroweap you can fall into it. GO TO TOROWEAP OVER MOUNT TRUMBULL if not winter.
Camp there walk up Mountain 6am. Down. Get in vehicle drive 23 miles to Toroweap.
BLM 1069 to schoolhouse. Left up. To Trumbull.
The Admin site there has firehall. So water. They may or may not be dickheads. Never know.
CZcams has opened up entire AZ STRIP BLM. Kelly Point. Twin Point. Grand Wash.
Side by sides have revolutionized travel.
Its very dangerous alone if vehicle breaks.
Lava Falls is biggest falls on river. Toroweap. Bar 10 Ranch is pay for play but real deal. $230 a night up.
