This Volvo XC70 is a crank no start. No codes..In this video I track down the issue using fundamental techniques and data driven diagnostics. What will we find?
I should’ve 😂. I was suspicious as soon as his wife told me he was re-wiring a harness. That was like a week ago though. I’m just surprised it took that long for the fuse to blow. The control wire was super burnt up when I opened the harness.
A few things to point out here. The "triangle of death" as you called it, functions in three stages: Yellow, which I'm not too sure of, Orange as a precautionary and Red for stop immediately. For example, the orange triangle was lit because the driver's door was probably open. However, a red triangle would appear if the coolant level was low. The oil leaks on top of the engine are most likely caused by one of the following issues: either a dried-out gasket under oil cap, or that hose (Part of the PCV system.) to the left of the oil cap is stiff and starting to leak. A good way to test these engines for clogged PCV issues, is by placing a rubber glove over the oil cap hole. If the rubber glove starts to inflate, then it's time to service the PCV system.
Thank you!!!!! I had mine start fine but it shut off one morning on my way to work. It shot me a throttle body code, (which it had kicked into reduced power) a few times the day before. So I replaced the throttle body but when I got it all back together it wouldnt start. I was worried about imoblizer and I pulled a few fuses. But not the one you did and so I ran out to pull it and it was blown. I guess thats why you should always pull the ground off the battary. I problably hit something.
Yes, those are definitely basic euro handtools lol! Although I’m seeing more and more of those torx and inverted torx and allen type hardware on a lot of domestic vehicles here as well lately! I talk a lot of crap about euro vehicles, but the truth is a lot of them are made pretty damn well. Volvo’s are pretty solid vehicles all around. Although I don’t understand why Volkswagen and Audi need to use so many dang plastic parts. Like, coolant hose T,s and such. They just deteriorate, they rot out every time and cause expensive issues. Expensive for us. I suppose I guess over there. Those parts are readily available.

Great diag! I admire your self-control to stick to your process and not go straight after the customer's work. 😀

Good diagnosis!
Thanks Bart!

Yes, always disconnect the ground if there’s a chance you can short another wire during repairs. You got lucky. Could have fried a module!
Check the oil level, just for kicks? I've seen my Jeep crank but won't send power to the injectors, when the oil level is low?
Wait until you have to rebuild one of these European vehicles engine or transmission. Special tools like wow.😅. Excellent video still

You have an open in the CAN bus system. No ECM communication with the rest of the system.
Why you cat that?

Thank you for watching! Unfortunately, I only speak English.
Nice find, could have been alot worse
Sorry, coil packs, not injectors?
Sorry, was that a question? It was neither..
Tire = USA, Tyre = UK. Perhaps you can change it in the Autel language settings.
Yeah I don’t care too much about that lol.. only says that in certain makes.
Yeah, trying to save money, buy doing it yourself, lucky it didn't fry the ECU?
Exactly!
