I am always saying WE GOT THIS in real life and online. We all have our own struggles and I believe we can get through anything together. When I was diagnosed with cancer in September, I thought this was my own struggle but I realised my cancer has affected everyone around me. I am a daughter, a girlfriend, a sister, a friend, a cousin, a grand daughter & more. I know my journey has affected everyone around me and I know now more than ever that I have no choice but to get better. Whatever life throws at us, we are going to get through it together. I really don’t know what to say. I guess I just had a bit of hope in August that I wouldn’t need surgery but the scans have all come back different to the last time. Tiff,
I was 20 years old when I got diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the small bowel. I went in for an exploratory surgery and woke up with an ileostomy and a pretty big bowel resection. I had chemo and radiation as well. My team had the same misgivings about performing an ileostomy on a 20 year old girl. However, cancer had wrecked havoc on my family and other family members previously and we all agreed we wanted to have the surgery ASAP. I am 44 now, I am married, and was able to have 2 girls. I became a nurse after my cancer because I want to bring awareness about prevention and early intervention. Everything has a solution if you act quickly. Please do not wait. Do not be afraid of LIFE… in any way GOD gives it to you!!! WE GOT THIS!!! NOW!!!

I had my stomach removed due to gastric cancer just over 2 years ago. Yes - life after surgery is different. Cancer is not a bump on the road, it is truly a fork and things are never as they were before the surgery. I had to grieve the person I was before, before I could begin to rebuild and celebrate the person I am now. I am of course, profoundly grateful to be alive, but there is no understating the difficulties. It would dishonor the journey to minimize how very difficult it all was. Today, I am healthier than before the cancer. I am going to the gym and rebuilding my strength. I am stronger in so many ways than before the surgery. Embrace every moment. Process your grief, your fear and your anger and get through. Prayers to you.

Ah Tiffany, it wasn't what you or anyone else wanted to hear but like you said it is what it is. I was 29 when I had a huge neurosurgery operation lasting just over 12 hours. The week leading up to it was very stressful. But like you, I had no choice. My little boy was only a year old. I was in a brain injury rehab hospital for 7 months after surgery & had to learn to do everything again. Walking was a huge milestone that happened months down the track after a lot of hard work, but there were many other milestones just as big along the way. I never really thought I'd be well enough to return to work or look after my little boy on my own again but I did.
Everything I've done since then is a bonus. That Neuro team gave me my life back. They were the most incredibly dedicated men & women I've ever met.
Right now I'm sure you don't want to think about how you will be after surgery. It's life altering & very difficult to go into when you can't physically see something on the outside that needs such radical treatment. I kept thinking they'd realize during the surgery that I didn't really need to be there & I'd wake up & go home! But I did need it & in my case if I had waited even a few more days the outcome would've been very different. That's what kept me going every single day. I'd been given a second chance. My sister flew over to be with me & became my lifeline. She looked after my son & came to see me 4 times week, every week. I was a single mum, living in a country thousands of miles from my family and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. If I can do it, anyone can.
You have the best attitude of anyone I've ever seen, you are like a hand of steel in a silk glove. And you have an incredible support team ♥️. You know this will be difficult but you are not on this journey alone. You have yet to meet the inspirational people that will work so hard to get you back fighting fit again. You WILL get there! Sending you love, compassion, understanding and lots & lots of hugs 🤗
    You've definitely GOT THIS! ✔️✔️✔️

I'm so relieved you can still have the surgery! My mom had rectal cancer and was told surgery was not an option, so that is wonderful news that you can get rid of this cancer! My moms advice was just live in the moment and do what needs to be done for that day, and try not to let your mind go to the next day. Take it one day at a time. I'm reminded when you first found out you had cancer, the picture of Jesus fell out of yoyr Bible. I believe he was showing you he is with you through this process. ***To the comments about just taking out the cancer at time of biopsy: It's more complicated than that. It does not take a team of 5+ surgeons to do a biopsy that are needed for the main surgery. The team of surgeons for the oncological surgery would consist of: Anesthesiology, Urology, Genecology, Gastro, Rectal and myriad OR nurses and assistants. It is a huge, complex surgery and lasts many hours.

She really needs to talk to a Therapist because this is gonna throw her for a loop & she just might start to regret listening to the doctor now. She has been put under so many times & I don't know why this doctor wants to do yet another biopsy then surgery because if she has to go through what she went through the last time that's gonna be so hard on her body & then she has to recover from that & have a 12 hr surgery? They have it narrowed down to two things. It's either crohns or colon cancer. Obviously, we're hoping for crohns.
I've been following you since your cancer journey began and I'm so very grateful to you for sharing all this. It's comforting to know what may lie ahead if the tests don't give us the answer we're hoping for.

Sweet, beautiful, fierce, strong Tiffany ❤️.... in this earthly life we aren't provided reasons for why certain experiences come our way, nor insight into our future. That can be thrilling at times, and other times not so much. When it's the not so much times, those are the times we most require radical acceptance and faith that whatever lies ahead and whatever the reason may be to be experiencing such difficult things, what IS in our control is where we place our energy and focus in the period of time before we get to know the outcome.
That is easier said than done, especially during such previously unthinkable challenges. Yet 18 months ago you had no idea what laid ahead of you and likely would not have thought you could handle what was coming your way.
I hope you are so proud of how you have come through the past 12 months since diagnosis and that first chemotherapy session. You did that. YOU. You had no idea why this was happening, nor what the result would be in the future.
I truly want you (and your Matt, mum, sister and family) to remember that you've all become different people, a different family than before diagnosis. You did that all together, with faith in you Tiffany, in doctors/health team, in your family solidarity and commitment to face these challenges together as the strong family you are.
Whatever this next chapter is, you have one another and your love and solidarity is truly magical. These are some of the beautiful things that even something as insidious as cancer can bring, when a family are willing to create a circle of protection and support to one of their own who needs it so much.
I hope every calorie you eat fattens you up and tastes so delicious. I hope each walk you take to get strong for this next phase of your journey brings flowers to smell on the way, the cutest dogs ever crossing your path, glorious sunshine and the crispest fresh air your lungs could ever want.
Focus on your body and strength of body, mind and spirit as you also embrace the joy that Christmas gives you. Relish each moment and indulge yourself in any way you like. That is medicine better than anything in a tablet. Then you'll be so ready for that surgeon to get this out of your body and your recovery and healing can begin.
Sending so much love and light to you from Canada. You DO got this💙

Tiffany. I also have an odd case. I had a pancreatic tumor at age 20 and they had to do a Whipple procedure. Not only was mine benign, but also I was very very young at the time. So, now, all of my issues related to the surgery are not really known about. Usually people develop it at a much older age.
You are strong! We are praying for you!
    Much love!!!

My heart sank when you told us what the surgeon has said about your results . You need to look after yourself.
It's amazing that Ann-Marie Buckley has reached out to you, to prove there is definitely life after surgery. To talk to someone who has had lots of surgery, possibly similar, you can ask all sorts of question.
More of Matts cooking, cakes and anything yummy. Go for it.
Stop this horrible thing in its tracks. You're a fighter and we are all with you! X

It's good you have so many people to support you, and of course your wonderful mom, you are so blessed to have her. :) It's going to suck, and I say that because my husband has gone through two stage 4 cancers, the last one was throat cancer, and had a 13 hour surgery to make a new throat. But that was a year ago, and so far so good, you are young and will heal fast, you really got this! :)

1.5 months more waiting for a growing tumor surgery ? I am having a hard time understanding.
Also Matt said they sounded like they will do the surgery so does this mean they might not do the surgery ?
Some doctor here might explain better maybe.
How about your lungs ? Did it show up on PET scan ? ❤

it shouldn't be 1.5months (im hoping beginning or mid of December)... I have to have another examination under anaesthetic (my surgeon will do this) and then its most likely surgery. The surgery is a lot (removing and reconstructing) so I need 4 surgeons (colorectal, gynaecologist, urologist & plastic surgeon) to be ready at the same time. Lungs are fine - they are still monitoring 💙

She once said that she wouldn’t of changed her life because she loved the one she was living and had her soulmate and amazing support system. She said she would rather live a shorter life than one not with the love of her life. You will have a long life because of the surgery even though it is daunting you have so many people who love and care for you! It’s just one more huge TIC TIC!! we all are here for you

He’s going to do another biopsy but the issue with that is a tumor can grow 1 millimeter away from the area he biopsies. The scans show a more complete picture. They need to get it out ASAP, waiting shouldn’t be an issue. Why do patients have to wait so long in England? I’ll never understand. I’m a dual citizen with family there and they’ve had to wait months to be seen for suspicious pains. Praying for you sweet girl - please stand up for yourself. 💙we got this💙

@@daffodil9075 you’re right; when I lived there for 8 years and had something pop up, there was a two week ‘rule’ that you’d get in to see a specialist. I’d imagine with cancer surgery it would/should be the same.

You are amazing and your way of dealing with your hardships is inspirational. I know this must be extremely difficult to share but I hope you never stop. I don’t have cancer but 2022 has been the hardest year of my life. I lost a baby, found out my son might have autism and lost my grandfather. Although my struggles are different watching you overcome your battles has left me feeling like I can do the same. I just bought a “We got this’ sweater so I can wear it to all my future hospital/doctors visits with my son.
I know the surprising news of the wait and see approach left you feeling like you might be cancer free. And getting this news even though could be expected at some point was extra shocking. I know you got this ♥️ You can do hard things!

Ah Tiff, I am sorry to hear this news. Have to say I am a bit annoyed with your doctors... they put you through that second attempt of biopsy when they could have seen from scans tumour had grown and waited for your surgeon. I remember them saying from day 1 that chemo/radiotherapy alone wouldn't be curative. I feel as though they got your hopes up. Let's now get this cancer out so you can live your best life, albeit with a few new challenges. Your strength and positivity is admirable. We got this! 💙💙💙
