Don't know about the rest of the album but this song should have been a massive hit. The two leaders are long gone but The Outfield definitely deserve a mention amongst the best bands of the 80s.
I have been a huge fan of the Outfield for many years. I was so very fortunate to see them perform live twice. The Outfield had a number of hits, but i feel that they never quite got the attention and respect that they deserved. This song was certainly not their biggest hit, but it is the one Outfield song that resonates the most with me. It was popular in the early 90's, just as my wife and I were going through a painful split. I listened to this song over and over during that period, because it summed up my feelings about our relationship. And as hard as we tried, things just didn't work out for us. We have both moved on and had wonderful lives, but this song always takes me back to that time whenever I hear it. An achingly beautiful song with very personal memories for me.
RIP John Spinks and Tony Lewis. Your music was a huge part of the soundtrack of my youth. Guess God had a couple positions to fill in His choir. Til the next life, keep playing that beautiful music. Outfield fan for life.
I guess nobody really paid attention to The Outfield... they had really good songs. I bet if they had done some advertising or promotions with famous brands I bet they would still be as popular as Journey.
Who remember have listened this song in 1990. When, I heard this song for the first time, in a pool room, it was love at first sound ! I didn't know this band or their name. Many weeks later, in 1990, I saw this video clip on televison: For you (by The Outfield), Then, I bought the cd before having the cd player ! I alway love you "The Outfied", you left a precious musical legacy ! You're always on my mind. RIP John and Tony, we love you, so much !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am a life long country western, Megadeth, Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, but I LOVE THE OUTFIELD!!!!! They came along at just the right time, and touched my life in a completely unexpected way!!! Love that band!!! WHERE ARE YOU GUYS, WE NEED YOU!!!
Im going to say the opposite. I feel they came along just at the wrong time. With all the Mettalica, Megadeth etc.... These guys got lost in the mix of pop bands. Any other time, they would have been HUGE. As a Metal, Hard Rock, Southern Rock fan... The Outfield made a couple of my favorite all time songs.
Sadly Tony Lewis (lead vocalist, bassist) and John Spinks (Guitars, backing vocals, keys). has both since passed on. John to liver cancer and Tony, unspecified cause.
Cuanta tristeza me da, pensar que Tony Lewis, una voz extraordinaria, ya no está en este mundo material. Su legado nos acompañará por siempre. Hermosa canción.

No band sings like this anymore. What the hell happened? God, these guys were fabulous and I'll remember them forever wherever they are now. They made a huge mark on 80s music in a big way.
+fernando quiñones you mistake great bands and singers nowadays for audio tune and not a lot of people love metal as it has become growling and screaming into a mic. Also rap is trash, sure N.W.A and older groups are talented cause it rhymes and flows but nowadays it doesn't even rhyme and sounds terrible using 5-10 to put a song together.
I only discovered The Outfield today, 2nd April 24. I am so sad that they are no longer making songs together since the death of Tony Lewis. So, so sad! I love his voice so much, he was exceptionally good. I really love this particular song, it's so melodic and soothing to sing along to. What a loss to the music world. RIP Tony.

31 years ago, I lost my Dad. I had just spent the last 5 sleepless days by his side then he passed. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do up to that point in my life. This song came on the radio while driving away from the hospital. I had to pull off the road. I cried. This song reminds me of that day and my loss. I love you Dad. I miss you. HSF(Heart Soul Forever)
I wore 2 cassettes out in the 80s playing them in my first car. They followed me to the Army and beyond as a civilian. I just love their sound. Very unique and I'd even say romantic.

I had never heard of this band until today October 2020. I think Australia just missed an awesome 80’s band. If it wasn’t for a You tube my mix suggestion I don’t think I ever would realised how great this band was.
I first heard this song way back in 1990 I was in elementary at that time and I really like it.i've been searching for it for decades coz I don't know it's title and the band who sing it until I came across it accidentally in 2020 when I heard their song " the raintown boys" bcoz it sounds similar to their " for you " song and the rest is history.if I'm not mistaken it was also a soundtrack to a movie in 1990.
Your words are testimony to the timelessness of great music, and your good taste in it. A lot of people enjoy music because either it suits the image they wish to portray, or from association to a specific pleasant time or place in their lives. A song was attached to it, so the nostalgia gives that song a tremendous boost. To just come upon it way after it's original run, and be able to appreciate it's power, is really something. Have a great day!
Dad, i just lost you and I miss you every second of my live. I enjoyed this song when I was a teenager, and the lyrics tell a bit how i feel. I know you might look older but no matter what I would like to keep you forever next to me. I am so sad since you left, your departure was so unexpected and it still hurts,.... so much. I know you are next to me, mom, my girls and the family. I remember you everywhere I go, its hard to be strong without you. I miss you dad!
This band is a bit of an enigma. Never had a hit in their native England, but enjoyed modest success in the US. Doesn't really matter. Just makes them a little extra special to fans like us.
I was a metalhead, my brother liked this type of music, so I was playing Rush, Led, Black Sabbath and Ozzy and he was playing this type. Now that Im older I saw this and played it...and cried. I was thinking about the past...thanks outfield...and Love you brother.
I feel you. I love hard rock and metal music, but at the end of the day this song is the most personal for me. After all the heaviness dies down and is gone, all that remains is my love for my wife who I lost years ago, and this song brings me peace in the end.
1990. Thank you for the memories Outfields! You bet I can have it any way I want it, and here you are once again reliving that time of my life with me. I don’t want it any other way but with you. You take me back to my first love, music.
Con tus bellas canciones me dejaste el corazón lleno Gracias Tony😢💔😍Fuiste un genio de la musica... Thanks Tony Lewis for your songs and you are so beatiful 😢You are my hero.
Rest in Piece: Tony Lewis and John Spinks. Thank you from all the good memories from all my favorite songs in your Band: “For You, Your Love, and My Paradise”.
No future generation will understand the wistful feeling one gets when hearing a song of their youth for the first time in 20 years. For decades, the music we heard was dictated by radio stations. Those deemed not "top 40" enough would never be heard from again. Until now.
When there was so much talent around like there was in the 80's, it was easy to miss gems like this. His voice would easily make a hit of any song any time. RIP Tony, John and The Outfield !

That's a beautiful tribute to your dad! I hope the pain of his loss passes into smiles and joy remembering the good times you shared.
Ditto man....
@@timfuentes2567 thank you,.... it is going in that direction. I appreciate your comments and wishes.
@@chuckHart70 Thanks Chuck. God bless you
My favorite Outfield song. RIP Tony....
This band is a bit of an enigma. Never had a hit in their native England, but enjoyed modest success in the US. Doesn't really matter. Just makes them a little extra special to fans like us.
They weren't from England. there a British band
And you're a Lakers fan. You're already someone I like 😁
Von Gallegos OMG you're being serious?! *dying*
And they were extremely popular in Mexico. Go figure!

@@FireTiger941 man! Real sorry for your loss😥🙏
I know that feel bro.
I'm a Slipknot fan but I also love The Outfield.
I listened to all of those bands and The Outfield, Honeymoon Suite , 80’s rocked either way.
Excelentes canciones..... que dejo Tony Lewis.... buen legado. Descanse en PAZ.
1990. Thank you for the memories Outfields! You bet I can have it any way I want it, and here you are once again reliving that time of my life with me. I don’t want it any other way but with you. You take me back to my first love, music.
I'm so sad, feeling blue., Since you left, I've been missing you. ... RIP Tony Lewis We missing you
Que gran banda llena de hermosas baladas !!! Me traen los mas bellos recuerdos de mi adolescencia.
Rest in peace Tony Lewis and John Spinks. You both made beautiful music for us to enjoy.

One of my fav of Outfield...but at the same time recalls bad moments of my past😪
30 years later and now he and John are both gone. RIP Tony. Bet you and John are jamming again and that sweet tenor is soaring!
Gran pérdida para la música de los 80's y 90's adiós Lewis
