Did Doug Demuro Fail Me With Cars And Bids? The TRUTH Behind Auctioning My Hellcat Online

  • I trusted Doug Demuro, and now, I have no Hellcat. But is he the one to blame? Or
    Am I?
To understand how we got here, we have to understand where we came from. This is the tale of how I acquired my rare 6-speed manual Dodge Challenger Hellcat and my experience selling the car on Daddy Doug's website, Cars & Bids. Am I the one to blame ultimately? Let me know in the comments.
Smoking is bad. I was doing it for the bit. Don't smoke.

The video was very satisfying ... at first ... and then I was in a sad place, I know those feels, so let me make you feel better. It took me 6 year to build a car once, I sold it for $45,000 then that person resold it for $80,000 and the next person resold it for $160,000 ... feel better yet? Haha

That's why you gotta do the Gotham Garage method. If you haven't watched Rust to Riches on Netflix then you need to. They build a car around that much BUT then they do the best they can to trade it to someone that would compromise and give them something more valuable(which is kinda what you did trading it for less money than you should have). So they basically go to someone that wants what they built and would lose for it instead of someone that just wants to get something to resell or a dealership that wants to make profit.

yeah, that was his mistake and at least he's owning it. I've been "talked down" by people before and never again. I will opine that I bet the people at cars and bids are former car salespeople and are masters at talking people down.
You could walk into any dealership, the car you want is the grade A numero Uno most valuable and sought after vehicle on the market today. Buy it, take it in next week to the same dealer and the same salesman will tell you "it's a piece of shit, it's not worth anything, you have to accept 50% of what you think it's worth".
I never sign a purchase agreement without a "subject to _______s approval" (used to be my father). That gives me an out. One sales rep said to me once "what's the matter, you not man enough to make your own decisions"? I looked him square in the eye and said "fuck you" and walked out....WHERE YOU GOING....."as far away from you as possible" he just blew 3 hrs of his time and a sale.......

9:29 Hey, that's me! I am glad you made this video. I think we are on the same page with this. I was thinking of listing my Challenger there when the time came to sell it, but it looks like muscle cars do not bring the right numbers on the site as of right now. As you said in the video, it is not really anybody's fault directly, just a bad chain of events that lead to the right buyer not being present at the auction. That is the huge downfall of auctions. But, on the bright side, the auction plus the videos you created about the experience should bring in some new viewers, like me, which will bring in more views for you.

Take heart, Elliott. Often dealership owners buy special cars for their own collections, even though they are bought through the business. The cars are impeccably maintained. We can hope that is the fate of this red menace. I know of one dealer tried to talk a customer out of buying a new car, but she wanted air conditioning and power steering, neither of which was practical to add to her showroom mint, original and unrestored 1961 Volvo P444. The dealer kept that car. Still has it on display in the showroom, too.

Cars and bids should not use word “enthusiast” anywhere as it is misleading. They would insist and plain lie to you with empty promises. They pushed me so hard not to have a reserve, feeding me tons of BS it was not even professional and quite evident. As they openly admitted In correspondence - they only care about their money. There is no value for the seller, unless you have something unique and live in the middle of the nowhere. I am sorry for your loss and sour feeling. I am glad that I did not list my car with them.
