Everyone forgets that Inalla's Eminence is a ETB. So if she's on the battlefield with Naban, you get double the token creation, and 6 times the triggers!
So I bought this deck the day it was on CQ, so I've had it for about a month and a half now. I've had amazing success with this deck and it wins so many different ways, every time a little different. Whether you're pinging people to death, taking infinite turns, stealing their creatures, or making infinite ETB / Dualcasters / etc it's just so strong. Dire Fleet Ravager WINS GAMES (nothing like everybody going from 40 to 9 and then dying from draw triggers in 1 shot, on someone else's turn). I added a few upgrades beyond the Reasonable including Cyc Rift, Venser Shaper Savant, Ertai Wizard Adept and a couple others. I can play it political doing spot permanent removal, counter spells, or I can just go all in and combo. Sometimes I just sit and wait until the overpowered player is about to combo off and either win on the spot or have an answer. It's not dependent on the graveyard, but can use it to its full advantage. And to most people, they think nothing of little wizard creatures that already had their ETB's used up. Seems like a lot of the budget decks end up being sort of a "1 trick pony" on here (Maze's End 97 lands I'm looking at you), this is one deck that just feels like nobody knows what to expect, and better, nobody knows what to destroy off your board because they really have no clue what's next. The best feeling is when you're playing a 5 man pod with 3 players with huge creatures and you start returning their stuff to their hands tapping wizards (but only when they attack me as a response - great political move, don't mess with the Wizards guy if you like your board state).
If you put in all the reasonable upgrades theres no 3 mana artifacts left for trophy mage to tutor.. What would be some useful 3 mana artifacts that can give some extra value for tutor?
Usually i don´t write comments, but man, thank you soo much for these Videos! I'm new to MtG and since i've found these videos i've really fallen in love with Commander! Thank you so much for the content!
The upgraded deck runs Trophy Mage and... 0 artifacts with 3 CMC ! I suggest replacing it by nighscape familiar, counterspell or chain of vapor (I love this spell), depending on your taste and meta.
Mitch, the thing I love most about the deck isn't the budget, but the fact that you truly made it a Wizard Tribal deck. Every video and article I have seen about upgrades or building Inalla has been some varriation of: Step 1: Take out 90% of the non-land cards step 2: Take out 80% of the land cards Step 3: Put in expensive lands, mana rocks and tutors along with combos not related to Wizard tribal in any way, such as Worldgorger Dragon and Animate dead to make infinite mana, then win with a combo that has little or nothing to do with Wizards and Inalla. Basically, make a generic Grixis combo deck. At least your build is about using wizards to control the game with actual wizards and to use the Commander's ability for something other than JUST a Bloodline Necromancer or Wanderwine combo. I love that you want to use EtB triggers without just being a bad Roon of the Hidden Realms flicker/blink deck.
Just wanted to say that I received the Porcine Stand playmat today and I absolutely love it! Super nice quality and I'm super happy with it! Your channel practically got me into commander and definitely inspired my love of budget decks. It all started with that Gishath, Sun's Avatar dino tribal deck, and while I've moved on to other decks I still am amazed at your creativity and budgeting skills. Keep up the good work! For a suggestion, I'd love for you to take a different perspective with one of these decks and build a more cEDH focused deck. Many people (including previously myself) think cEDH has to be super expensive, but other channels like the Spike Feeders have fun budget cEDH decks that look perfect for high power, interactive edh. I'd love to see your take on a deck like that. As always, love the content!
So Mitch, I'm fairly new to magic and I've been watching a lot of your videos. I built this deck and it plays awesome. Much more powerful that expected. So far so good.
I love my Inalla deck. I bought the pre-con as my first commander deck. Threw in some upgrades and had a blast. It's one of the most interesting decks I've played because there's a lot of ways to build and play.
I know that at $7-10 it's not exactly budget, but Inalla's ability plus Ashnod's Altar plus Bloodline Necromancer plus knowing how to stack the triggers equals infinite hasty lifelinkers...
B T Ashnod’s as an upgrade would be pretty nice since paying the one for the token would actually net you mana since you can just sac the body, albeit colorless mana.
@@ferdithetank7535 You know I ended up buying the Deadeye Navigator and Panharmonicon which makes this deck really strong too but I really wish they had put these 3 cards as the upgrades as well, considering they had basically half the combo already in the deck (in the case of Ashnod's and Curiosity)..
Sweet deck Mitch. So sweet in fact that I went a head and built it with a few changes with cards I had. Kept the Deadeye/Drake combo for that win cob as shown in the video but also added Dualcaster/Twinflame or Heat Shimmer combo as well. Another good card to add might be Ghitu Journeymage. When it enters if you control another wizard it deals 2 damage to EACH opponent. Yes please! AND it’s budget too!
Hey Mitch, first off love the deck techs and the channel. I've played this decklist exactly in a few different settings and it lacked something. It just felt very clunky and often didn't go anywhere. From my playtesting, keeping it budget I added some draw and more cheap spells that do more like Dissolve. Adding Kefnet's Monument also helped in bringing the cost of necessary creatures down and could be tutored for using those artifact mages. Squeezing in Parallel Thoughts was also really really helpful as I could guarantee the next 7 draw effects would give me either combo pieces or counterspells or both. Finally Drift of Phantasms while not a mage helped in letting me pick a card later game, or be a nice shield for me early (as well as offering reach). Just wanted to share this with you, I've enjoyed many of your decks and your borborygmos deck was what got me into both Magic and Commander. Cheers!
It was a blast seeing my favourite commander deck in your channel. By the way, I would include Wonderwine Prophets as one of the best upgrades you can make. It just goes off by itself and it doesn't hit the battlefield that often. A janky but fun way to win I guess
The best wizard to play in an Inalla deck has got to be Wanderwine Prophet. Just champion the Prophet with its hasty Token, swing the Wanderwine Prophet token at an open opponent and sac it for the extra turn, just repeat the champion token dance for infinite turns!
It's strong, but too obvious. No one will let it stick. If you have a higher budget, you can probably protect Wanderwine Prophet, but at budget, it's too easy to stop. Also it doesn't compliment any card in the deck, just a 1 card potential win con, which is pretty frowned upon.
Wanderwine Prophet is a MUST HAVE for ANY Inalla deck. But it's the kind of card you make sure you have in your "sideboard" so you put it in or take it out depending on the quality of decks you're playing against. For only $2.49 upgrade (for the damaged copy on TCG right now) it's a no-brainer. And it doesn't NEED to compliment any other card in the deck, which was kind of your point, MasterX25, but also THE point. It's one of the few "1 card combos" in the entirety of Commander. That makes it pretty cool in and of itself.
@@MasterX25 You're saying no one lets it stick but in my experience its a free win most of the times. Most casual decks play way too few interactions and there is always someone with an empty board to take advantage of and start taking the extra turns to find removal for all other creatures that would stand in your way.

I like this video. I had a Kess deck I really didn't enjoy much but have changed up a bunch of cards in it that you suggested here along with changing the commander. The final two upgrades I did were switching out a Clone and Nin, the Pain Artist for Erratic Portal and Disciple of Bolas. I have Virtus's Moneuver, DIsturbed Burial, and for getting anything killed by Disciple or opponents back from the grave.
To those looking for a more combo centric upgrade, Inalla has a fairly complex but highly effective 1 card, 4 mana combo with Spellseeker, copied and tutoring Culling the Weak and Reanimate, sacrificing and reanimating for Unearth and Entomb, Unearthing for Burnt Offering and Shallow Grave, and then Entombing and looping Scholar of the Ages for infinite mana and tutors. About $35 to assemble the whole package, so not quite able to fit in a budget deck, but all the cards work well individually and make for a tight, easily protected and difficult to disrupt combo package when together.
I can't wait to try this out!!! Can we look forward to any break the bank episodes in the near future? I'm especially looking forward to a BtB episode of Yuriko, Krenko and Purphoros!
ok so I haven't watched the full video yet, but if it isn't in the decklist it should definitely run Grenzo, Dungeon Warden. It goes infinite with timestream navigator which will let you have infinite turns with the following sequence. 1. Have cities blessing, 2. have Grenzo with atleast 1 +1/+1 counter on board, 3. use timestream navigator's ability to take an extra turn, 4 use grenzo ability to put timestream from bottom into grave and then board. Repeat steps 3 -4 every turn
Out of all the Commander 2017 decks, this one was the most underrated. This deck is an ABSOLUTE budget powerhouse, I have lost to it many times, it can go against decks in any budget level. The commander's effect is amazing ( some would say broken ) 😁.
always love to see more takes on Inalla. I'll admit I didn't think about extra blink synergy, despite the deck having panharmonicon and naban and most of the wizards getting value from doubling their etb's. I even have deadeye navigator and ghostly flicker in there but not peregrine drake or displace/illusionist's stratagem. another good budget card is Twinflame, goes infinite with Dualcaster Mage even without Inalla's ability
Competitive seems way too brutal for this deck tbh. Maybe I just have bad luck, but most of the tournament games I've played the match is decided by turn 4-5. Fuck you, competitive Scion of the Ur-Dragon, your my most recent pain in the ass.
This is a deck I've always wanted to build, just haven't gotten around to it. Just might have to do so. And I just got my Porcine Stand mat and it's awesome.
Good thing you’re running Dualcaster + Flicker, it’s one of my favorite Inalla combos. Wanderwine is the most powerful and expensive one, but there are many other awesome ones too. Also: Having two draw damage Niv-Mizzets and no Curiosity? C’mon.
Unfortunately because they leave on the next end step, they stick around for your next opponent's turn and then disappear in their end step. Very unfortunate, I know :(
Cooper Graveline Actually, if you wait until the end step and then trigger the sundial, that next end step part is forgotten because it’s already triggered once. It’s only if you use the sundial BEFORE you hit the end step and get all the triggers on the stack that they will disappear on your opponents turn. I’ve got a mirror gallery style legendary wizard version of inalla that combos into a massive board presence simply because I can keep the tokens around.
@@Rojolbv Yea, Guy With Time is correct. Wait until the end step and the sacrifice trigger goes onto the stack, then you respond to it with the sundial ability. The sundial resolves first and exiles the rest of the stack and ends the turn. And because the sacrifice trigger already went onto the stack, it won't trigger again on your opponent's end step.
I think you missed Ashnod's Altar for this deck. It's a two card combo with Bloodline Necromancer to go infinite and win like that. It also lets you sacrifice your token Wizards for more value. C'mon Mitch.
I was curious about where you get your prices from. I'm not trying to start any crap I just noticed that I have paid significantly more for some of the cards you mentioned that I have purchased very recently. Thanks for the videos! They are fun!
profaner of the dead can sacrifice its own clone token to stay on the field. throes of chaos can help with dead land draws to get something else from the library. havengul lich can help out other pieces of necromancy to return things to the field. with sidisi's faithful it can bounce two creatures with just 3 mana. grim haruspex can further assist this strategy of exploit on the creatures.
Inalla my baby, one of the few decks I spent money on, mostly for utility lands/duels. All the cards combo off one another in some shape or form but my go to are animate worldgorger/dire fleet ravager/toh. About to restructure mine to fit in the new thassa and her oracle.
I never understood the power of Dire Fleet Ravager until I had made the extra copy, had Naban Dean of Iteration and Panharmonicon in play and as I'm explaining that you're going to lose a third of your life a total of 6 times in a row and you start seeing 40 become 26, becomes 17, becomes 11, becomes 7, becomes 4.. Enter combat and here's 2 2/2 wizards coming at you....
ever thought about putting wanderwine prophets in this deck? you can actually get infinite turns just from this card plus inalla's eminence trigger (but you need at least 3 free mana to maintain this combo every turn).
@@Babaloo2870 It's basically a European TCG market place. Afaik it used to be just MtG (hence Magiccardmarket), but expanded to other card games as well and removed the "m" part from the name.

Win with infinite token beat / Inalla activations / whatever else.
That would eat a lot of the budget. It would have to be a break the banks episode. One good card is not worth roughly one third of the budget for the deck. One of the things that he is really good at, most of the time, is spreading out the value so you dont feel the budget constraints as much
As far as I can see, Trophy Mage has no legal target with her ETB of finding an artifact card with mana value exactly 3. (due to the wording it has to be exactly 3) This is about the upgraded deck list, in the budget version she can find the lockets.
While i love and will be building this at some point... Please do Dalakos, Crafter of Wonders in a interesting way. I've been brewing but haven't found anything and if anyone can do it its you. thanks been subbed for a year now!
I've had inalla since it came out. When i went against my friend with it out of the box, we were laughing 20 turns in when i was in control of the game but had no win condition. If i have to stress this, bloodline necromancer is prolly the best top deck in the library. Protect your graveyard, stockpile on dead wizards, get naban and panharmonicon out, try to copy them, then play a recursion, then it goes down like dominoes. Venser is also a great defense, if you have a etb doubler, when you copy him, you have 4 venser triggers, one of which you can use to return venser itself. Here's my deck I've had for the longest, it costs 300 but feel free on using it for suggestion tappedout.net/mtg-decks/grixen-archmages/
sundial of the infinite lets you keep the tokens you made with inalla. attrition is a nice enchantment that lets you sac yor tokens to kill most creatures and dight the uphill battles better. ashnods altar and phyrexian altar let you infinite in a few more ways.
As an aside, with the recommended upgrades to artifacts, the deck drops out 3 CMC artifacts, and there is only one 1 CMC artifact. It seems like there should be a fetch target for 3 CMC or that the Trophy Mage should be removed. Fixed that by removing Trinket Mage (Wayfarer's isn't worth it as the only target) and replaced with a Kefket's as it applies to a large portion of the deck. Also, thinking about removing one of the Nivs and replacing with an Thassa, Deep Dwelling as a second Conjurer's Closet effect, as the recurrable ETB seems more powerful.
I thought the stack worked like this ; Ghostly flicker bounces two targets, two targets re-enter the battlefield and their ETB hits the stack, ghostly flicker resolves after the ETB and therefore is not yet in the graveyard. Or does ghostly flicker resolve as soon as they hit the field, goes to grave, and then ETB's start a new stack?
I've had what I consider a budget Inalla deck for over a year now. archidekt.com/decks/60459#Inalla,_Community_College_Headmistress It's a bit on the pricey end of budget at around $120. Description on how to play the deck at the bottom. This is my cheapest deck, and also my strongest deck. If I want to win, I don't pull my $800+ deck out, I pull this out. You can try to win, you can win by accident, you can win even with your opponents trying to stop you.
that's... a very impressive amount of different ways to go infinite for a single budget deck... and you didnt even specifically mention how easy it is to take infinite turns with just Inalla, Timestream Navigator and one of the bouncy wizards that can target your own stuff (does take a decent chunk of mana admittedly, but this is Commander...)

This is a deck I've always wanted to build, just haven't gotten around to it. Just might have to do so.
And I just got my Porcine Stand mat and it's awesome.
Hey Mitch, at 3:13 for Tactic 2 there is a typo. Target Acquired is the right spelling. I enjoy your videos a lot.
Mitch, you somehow always figure out a way to make a deck about the commander Im thinking of building, every single time
Inalla is my favorite deck!
Good thing you’re running Dualcaster + Flicker, it’s one of my favorite Inalla combos. Wanderwine is the most powerful and expensive one, but there are many other awesome ones too. Also: Having two draw damage Niv-Mizzets and no Curiosity? C’mon.
how about sundial of the inifinite to keep those copies around ?
Unfortunately because they leave on the next end step, they stick around for your next opponent's turn and then disappear in their end step.
Very unfortunate, I know :(
Cooper Graveline Actually, if you wait until the end step and then trigger the sundial, that next end step part is forgotten because it’s already triggered once. It’s only if you use the sundial BEFORE you hit the end step and get all the triggers on the stack that they will disappear on your opponents turn. I’ve got a mirror gallery style legendary wizard version of inalla that combos into a massive board presence simply because I can keep the tokens around.
@@thyguywithtime670 so it does work then ? i'm not sure anymore about the rule now haha
@@drewsimon9652 thanks !
I think you missed Ashnod's Altar for this deck. It's a two card combo with Bloodline Necromancer to go infinite and win like that. It also lets you sacrifice your token Wizards for more value. C'mon Mitch.
Fun fact: you can pop off an infinite combo with Timestream Navigator and Conjurers Closet(or Helm of the Host, or Thassa, Deep Dwelling)
I don't know why but now that I hear your voice in old videos, it seems much softer than in the recent ones ^^
Wanderwine prophets with graveyard shenanigans for infinite turns most of the time on turn 4 or 5 max
Would it be possible to make a riku of two reflections clone focused commander deck budget?
@@youtubeperson1409 yeah, it doesn't get the attention that it deserves honestly
Any reason you didn't recommend Sundial of the Infinite to make all the tokens permanent?
Not super budget, but wanderwine prophets is a one-card infinite turns combo in this deck. It’s a complicated combo, but it’s won me a lot of games.
ever thought about putting wanderwine prophets in this deck? you can actually get infinite turns just from this card plus inalla's eminence trigger (but you need at least 3 free mana to maintain this combo every turn).
Torbran Deck would be nice!
why are you running wizzards retort if counterspell is not more expensive ?
It's around $1 cheaper at this point ($1.34 vs $0.59), but in a budget deck like this one it makes a difference, even if its a small one.
not just that but the flavor
@@TheCommandersQuarters ok, i just looked at mkm, and there both are at 2 cent
Der Redstone_Pro what is mkm?
@@Babaloo2870 It's basically a European TCG market place. Afaik it used to be just MtG (hence Magiccardmarket), but expanded to other card games as well and removed the "m" part from the name.
Mitch! You forgot the ashnods alter and bloodline necromancer combo and wanderwine prophets combo on the upgrades!
Puppeteer clique exiles instead sacrificing it. Which makes it even beter!
Love this combo girl.
Wins with 4 mana and a Spellseeker.
StLexion how?
1 Cast Spellseeker
2 Resolve SS trigger, find Culling the Weak (Inalla trigger still on the stack)
3 Cast Culling the Weak
4 Resolve Inalla trigger. Token ETB. Resolve token's trigger finding Unearth
5 cast Unearth, Spellseeker ETB
6 Resolve triggers, token ETB, find Burnt Offering+ Finale of Promise
7 Cast Burnt Offering
8 Cast Finale of Promise targeting Culling the Weak + Unearth
9 Resolve triggers, SS clone ETB, find Entomb+ Reanimate
10 Find Scholar of the Ages with Entomb and Reanimate it
You can now loop Burnt Offering and Reanimate effects (grab one that doesn't hurt at some point) with Spellseeker and Scholar of Ages to grab Demonic Tutor and then whatever else you want. Win with infinite token beat / Inalla activations / whatever else.
Don't forget you can set up an infinite combo with Wanderwine Prophets as well.
Idol of Oblivion would be a good choice as well.
You should think about a updated yarok deck with thassa
That would eat a lot of the budget. It would have to be a break the banks episode. One good card is not worth roughly one third of the budget for the deck. One of the things that he is really good at, most of the time, is spreading out the value so you dont feel the budget constraints as much
@@alanstern6930 yeah thats true a break the bank would be cool
It's acquired, not aquired, lol.
Love your videos
Tip from player of this deck: clones are good if you dont have alot of wizards.
Petition for a underrealm lich deck tech
Mirror march would be a reasonable upgrade
As far as I can see, Trophy Mage has no legal target with her ETB of finding an artifact card with mana value exactly 3. (due to the wording it has to be exactly 3)
This is about the upgraded deck list, in the budget version she can find the lockets.
Another deck I wanna build now Lmao. I still wanna see what theros beyond death commanders you do if you build any
Could you do a miniseries were you do the gods from the new theros set without commander cost, that would be awesome.
Gadwick the wizened seems pretty good as a card draw dork in this deck. Blue sun's zenith but wizard
Can confirm Gadwick is great. Copying him unfortunately does nothing, but Naban/Panharmonicon will work.
I'd like a break the bank on this deck :)
Have you listed the podcast on Podbeans? That's my preferred listening platform, and I would love to listen to it!
Would Thassa's Oracle be a good addition to the deck?
I just got one in a TBD booster pack I opened yesterday
While i love and will be building this at some point...
Please do Dalakos, Crafter of Wonders in a interesting way.
I've been brewing but haven't found anything and if anyone can do it its you.
thanks
been subbed for a year now!
You can go one-card infinite with Wanderwine Prophets if you're not against a bit of cheddar.
sundial of the infinite lets you keep the tokens you made with inalla. attrition is a nice enchantment that lets you sac yor tokens to kill most creatures and dight the uphill battles better. ashnods altar and phyrexian altar let you infinite in a few more ways.
RIP kobe, he a real one
You should run grenzo, prison warden for an infinite combo with timestream navigator
He really likes wayfarers bauble
With the upgraded deck, you should take out Trophy Mage. There are no 3 mana artifacts left.
I took my mizzix deck and mixed it into inalla to turn it even more into a spellslinger deck
Please do a budget deck on the new heliod!
I thought the stack worked like this ;
Ghostly flicker bounces two targets, two targets re-enter the battlefield and their ETB hits the stack, ghostly flicker resolves after the ETB and therefore is not yet in the graveyard.
Or does ghostly flicker resolve as soon as they hit the field, goes to grave, and then ETB's start a new stack?
You should build budget Roon!
I've had what I consider a budget Inalla deck for over a year now.
archidekt.com/decks/60459#Inalla,_Community_College_Headmistress
It's a bit on the pricey end of budget at around $120.
Description on how to play the deck at the bottom.
This is my cheapest deck, and also my strongest deck.
If I want to win, I don't pull my $800+ deck out, I pull this out.
You can try to win, you can win by accident, you can win even with your opponents trying to stop you.
Hey mitch wy is trophy mage in there it as not target to get and trinket mage only the wayfairer should this be replaced by something else better?
One day someone is actually going to cast Vedalken Aethermage, and say "Yes, I did."
I've done it in modern. It's a blocker after all
Doesn't Naban, dean of iteration also double up the eminence, since it's a triggered ability ? Same thing for panharmonicon ?
Sad that there isn't a quicksilver fountain. Its is a great way to use the tokens to get more value
I know it isn't budget, but I like Ashnod's Altar in a deck like this for more flexibility.
I've played inalla since she came out and have never cast her.
as a fellow Inalla player, you're doing it right!
I've cast her a couple of times when Naban and/or Panharmonicon is on the field, things get pretty nutty at that point.
I've been trying to make an affordable Kroxa deck for the new set, any way you could give some insight?
that's... a very impressive amount of different ways to go infinite for a single budget deck... and you didnt even specifically mention how easy it is to take infinite turns with just Inalla, Timestream Navigator and one of the bouncy wizards that can target your own stuff (does take a decent chunk of mana admittedly, but this is Commander...)
