  • Whether you're new to driving at any age or have just passed your driving test at 17 in the UK or even around the world, there are many things that you'll learn whilst driving by yourself with the rest of the general public.
From learning about blind spots and the dangers of them to the mechanical maintenance basics of your car. From checking the oil levels to the condition of your tyres and the levels of your coolant.
If you spend some time going over the basics of driving and putting in the practice by yourself and with professionals you can learn to enjoy driving whilst improving your safety on the public highway.
Thank you for watching and let me know down in the comments what I can create next to help you out with!
    Alex.

The part about checking the fluid levels is so important. After I bought my first car, it was a few days before I remembered that I had to do that and I'm glad I did. There was literally a drop of oil left. I was lucky I didn't have to drive during those first few days (except driving it home) because I'm sure that I would have broken down. You can definitely hear a diffence between a car with plenty of oil and virtually none.

Hey Paynos - awesome job! Congratulation on passing 10K and on your way to 11K. I'm going to hit 10K for my B-day in May!! I like the fact that you started with tires. I bought top of the line Michelins last year for my vehicle, and after taking off the steel studded snow tires, those Michelins are like driving on a dream. Sorry, I know know those tires are French, but they make good tires. I took a skid pad course in a lorry - it was a lot of fun and learned heaps. The most important thing I learned: "a locked or spinning wheel always leads!" In other words, you can lose control by over-accelerating, -braking, and -steering. One point I would add is following distance - maintain a following distance of 2-3 seconds minimum. That point goes with your excellent blind spot point and your discussion about lorries. Thanks again - all the best mate. Cheers Rick PS - video note - when you over lay a picture, reduce the opacity of the main video and add a drop shadow to the image - it makes the picture stand out. Cheers

Great Video, really interesting hearing you talk about motorways, i myself have just driven to santapod, had to go on m25, then M1, and you really have to keep your concentration on all the time. look forward to your next video, ive subscribed to your channel, you are really very interesting. the only criticism i had was i wouldnt have suggested using a 20p coin to check tread depth, you should really recommed a proper depth gauge, as you said and i totally agree, tires are really important.

    • @Paynos
      @Paynos  Před 7 lety

Thank you! I agree with you on getting a proper tyre gauge if possible, never an exact guide with the 20p thing just a rough way for people to be able to tell if their tyres are on the low side :)

I'm always worried about my left hand mirrors or crashing into the car thats parked.

    • @wumpty93
      @wumpty93 Před 6 lety

iD3JXY Well I know this comment is 10 months old but i'll answer your question anyway. It depends on the situation, how wide the road is and if not you can fit through a gap safely.
9/10 times it's best to slow down on approach to parked cars and if you can fit through a gap with half a doors width I would recommend slow right down to about 10/15 miles per hour so if anything goes wrong you can steer better because your moving slower. I would highly recommend you give way to cars coming at you if parked cars are on your side of the road last thing you need is to meet someone coming at you and you cannot pull back in and you both end up stopping and blocking each other. Finally the words of my instructor and I'll never forget them; "less space, less speed and if any doubt just stop"

Like most of your vids but have you ever drove a lorry ? Most lorrys have a better view then cars and it is provin that 90% of accidents on the motorways between cars and lorrys that the cars were at fault I've always said that when you first pass your test you should be made to drive a 7 1/2 ton lorry down the motorway loaded and see how hard it is to stop when some one in a car ether cuts you up or brakes in front of you and then think what its like to be hauling 40 ton the lorry driver has no chance of stopping so next time you'd on a motorway and passing a artic just think how much weight he mite have on and how would you stop it ill tell you it can be bloody scary driving sometime anyhow that's my rant over you keep the good and not the bad vids coming take it easy 😊

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen
    A kingdom of isolation
And it looks like I'm the queen
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I've tried
Don't let them in, don't let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know
    Well, now they know
Let it go, let it go
    Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don't care what they're going to say
    Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway
It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
    I'm free
Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
    You'll never see me cry
Here I stand and here I stay
    Let the storm rage on
My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back, the past is in the past
Let it go, let it go
And I'll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
    That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand in the light of day
    Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway

David Hax: I sexually identify as a carrot, so I find that very offensive.

Same technique applies, just depends whether it is FWD/RWD or AWD. You just might have slightly less of a chance of saving it ;)

They're great value for money for a new car, but definitely consider having a look on the second hand market too, you can get some awesome cars for around 6k!

having had a crash in a saxo doing doing 60+ mph into a lampost i can tell you crashes hurt. getting taken to hospitol in an amblaunce and having your freind know you as that mug who crashsed. if your lucky like me you will be put on a driver awareness course which will cost you how 100 pound+ if not then your lisence tanken straight from you. end 0f the day seep isnt worth it if your new to driving.

Always use the tyres in better conditioin in the back, when you loose traction in the front you can feel it in the steering wheel. When you loose traction in the rear tyres you only notice it when you're already spinning.

Kasam Clio's are really good first cars but not this one in terms of affordability. 1.4 engine will cost you when it comes to insurance and you also must declare any modifications the car has (this one has a few) which again will affect the insurance quite a bit.
