I remember the first time I read this and realized the significance of Jesus asking Peter if he loved Him 3 times. I was so touched by that! It’s the closest thing to a do over one can get.
Idk why but this one brought me to tears. Jesus qualifying Peter in public after his failures moved me.
Thank You Pastor David. You helped me go through the book of John. How wonderful to learn that each word in the word of God counts. May our Almighty God be Glorified by your work.
I'm a women's bible teacher in Tulsa. I have been teaching the book of John since September. I have to wrap it up by the 9th of May. I have quoted you so many times the past few months, because I have been listening to a video every week.

Thank you again for your teaching. Before this, I always thought the "these" was his fishing occupation. Also, now connecting the three times asking if Peter loved Him, contrasting with Peter's denying him three times. I also never before knew of the two different types of love being spoken. I wonder why the KJV says feed in all 3 of Jesus telling Peter Feed the sheep and lambs. The KJV doesn’t have the word tend at all.
Interesting! In the original Koine Greek of the Gospel of John, it is:
"Feed the lambs of me" (Feed my lambs)
then: "Shepherd the sheep of me" (Tend my sheep)
then: "Feed the sheep of me" (Feed my sheep)

For all its beauty and majesty, the editors of the King James Bible could only work with the copies of scripture that were available to them at that time, and they sometimes needed to made stylistic choices and "corrections" which they felt best served the text.
But since 1611, many more manuscripts (some very much older and more original) have been found, which now inform most Bible editions that are compiled after 1611.
