If someone was to purely use bodyweight to train, progressive overload, the most important part in strength building becomes incredibly difficult due to being unable to easily increase the weight. The most you could do is do your bodyweight for high reps, but doing a relatively low weight at high reps is better for muscle growth rather than strength growth, not to mention after a certain point, your own body weight becomes so easy that lifting to failure becomes closer to cardio rather than something to gain strength, so I want to know why you think that calisthenics give more strength

Calisthenics, bodyweight exercises which will build more strength than size, while also helping to build a good amount of size and muscle mass at the same time. That, combined with some free weights.... Pure gold.

Calisthenics are amazing dude, started with them and I mostly still roll with them though I also use logs as weights now
Plus you can do them pretty much anywhere at any time which is what makes them so fucking good. No weight or added weight, however many reps and sets.
