I think this video would be useful to healthcare professionals to show patients, and parents who have a child born/living with hemiplegia cp. Ability Street videos aren't aimed at particular groups. They are excellent for awareness of cerebral palsy, other disabilities, and disability issues, from the perspectives of people with disabilities, for everyone to watch.
Thanks for this video. This explains my nieces condition perfectly. She is one of the 20% who acquired Hemiplegia after birth. A large benign brain tumor had to be removed from her (18 month old) Brain on right the side. Unfortunately what was meant to be a serious but straight forward procedure turned into a life changing one. Something went wrong and she had a stroke during the surgery leaving her hemiplegic and in a wheelchair for the first two years after.

This is amazing to see. My 11 month old is currently under going testing for cerebral palsy, but we have had a confirmation letter that he has a right side hemiplegia. We’re awaiting brain scans to find out exactly what’s happened. He’s only just starting sitting unaided and as a mum, it’s really concerning how his life will pan out for him. You’ve given me so much hope that he will be okay. So thankyou very much for this. Our hospital haven’t told me anything about the disability whatsoever and I had absolutely no idea what it was prior to this video. Again, thankyou from the bottom of my heart x

I have left side Cerebral Palsy, but through the grace of God, I was able to work for over 30 years. I learned how to drive without aid. I am married and have 5 children. I walk without any kind of aid. CP is difficult, but it's not a death sentence.
@@ramh2424 you’re amazing! My son has right side cerebral palsy and also had a 10cm cancerous brain tumour in his spinal column which was causing him to deteriorate. After treatment and surgeries, he’s now cancer free and learning how to live life❤️
@@ScreamYourLungsOut56 That is great to hear. I suffered through a lot of bullying, but I always believed that I could live as normal as possible. Just some advice, make sure that he exercises. I used a heavy bag for a long time .This gave me a lot of confidence and strength. Exercise is important for mental health.
