so glad I found this video... by accident... I was in a coma, and this gave me back a memory! in 1974 I made a bust of my grandmothers head.. with polyfilla... used it as part of my work for entrance to ocad, it was so lifelike my mother hid it on me lol I love his techniques.. I used a small palate knife and regular kitchen tools for mine.. but I was only 17 and it was so long ago,,, thank you for the memory!!
This absolutely incredible, never seen anything like it. This guy has mastered his craft beautifully. Sharing!
Wow.
There's no words to how happy I am to have found this, as an artist, I wanted to make 3D Paintings, so I would build up tissue paper, and paint over it. But it took many hours, of layering. This is exactly what I was looking for, and I'm not the only one!! And what's better is I can make stencil patterns, and carve or sand away! Thank you so much for adding this artists work! I can't wait to finally creat all the ideas I've had in my head!!
Incredible work, you can see the intensity of his passion in his eyes during the creation, really nice.
Congratulations on the 1,000,000 views PrecisionTaping ! And Bernie Mitchell is a true drywall artist. My hats off to both of you!!!
Thanks dude!! Took a little while but we made it! Im actually working on a re-edit right now. A little shorter and more to the point, with softer music.
Can't wait to see it!
thanks Paul.
thought you did a great job of the original Brian, but I'm looking forward to viewing the re edit.PrecisionTaping
I'll show it to you first Bernie to get your approval.
i would love to have that sculpture for my hunting cabin wow beautiful work
This is just beautiful Bernie. Your art is so wonderful to watch. I'm just amazed at how your mind creates such excellence. TFS.
I can't believe anyone would give this a thumbs down! How remarkably awesome this man is...truely a gift from God!
WOW!!! BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS ...
Wonderful Art Work!!! thank you for sharing
What an incredible talent! I haven't seen any bas relief art for decades. I'm so glad it's not a dying art form.
It's amazing that he sculpted with in the parameters of 20 to 30 minute dry time of drywall paste. Then to do the carving as well. I am very impressed. Nice trout.
Bernie Mitchell, you're just awesome! Can't wait ti try this. Googling you!
The details he puts in his art is insane
Absolutely outstanding, how wonderful to be able to see such perfection in the making.
Really beautiful and unique! Each installation, an individual pièce of art. Truly amazing!
amazing work beautiful
Stunning! I can't help but notice that some folks had hit the "dislike" button. What could you possibly not like??
envy i guess
The music is enough to detract many people from appreciating the visuals and artwork of what the artist is doing. Very distracting and unsettling.
he's like a computer, printing it out onto the wall. It's perfect. The detail is AMAZING! Imagine how much money this guy could (and probably does) make doing this!
Im 14 and have never heard of this art type before ......why am i here?! I should be studying for finals right now.omg my procrastination has reached new levels.sither way i am inpressed so congrats to people who can acually do this because i cant even sculpt a cat out of regular clay .
I have been doing this with plaster for over 40yrs. it's nothing new. but he is a fair sculptor. need some fine tuning .
I want to try this but I'm pretty sure I would try over and over again until i became to angry, punched a hole in the wall, and built a mud pile around it to make it a volcano.
what kind of mud you use and u use alone or u added some another material
thx
Beautifully done and good knife work! This sort of plaster work has been done for centuries around world. Some pieces sculpted cast molded and applied to walls or ceilings. Crown moldings I've seen done with plaster where built with a frame work underneath as the plaster could not be too thick and was done in stages. Then an ornamental profiled draw knife was used to create a nicely profiled crown molding. But most of that nowadays is old school. It's nice to see this kind of fresh composition. Since there have been so much done in empire revival, rococo, grotesque or arabesque styles.
amazing talent never seen something like this before. Well done Mr Bernie MItchell
Awesome !!!!
yes,it is. Ilove it too.
How does he avoids cracking in the compound? With layers that thick won't the compound crack.
Beholder I did try figure this out ... He add something there but I don't know what is that ?? powder glue or urethane ???
Robert Rydlewski It's a setting compound. Like sheetrock 90 or easy sand 90. You can find it in the drywall aisle at Home Depot.
+Robert Rydlewski I myself do drywall and I use a joint compound for the taping which looks to be the same thing he uses here, but the powder he added is possibly a plaster. To keep it he sprays it with water not heavily just a spritz hope this helps.
he uses gypsum. I used ceramic gypsum before for smaller arts but it going off much much quicker
+guardduck25 he's using a regular mud compound, adds water then mixes in some set fast. it gives him a lil time to play with before it sets. without setfast, it'll take more than a day to dry when you lay it thick. without setfast, thick clumps of mud will crack.
That's old-school craftsmanship and artistry, right there.
This man is for me a teacher. In my work I still have a long way to go to him. I'm just fascinated by his work!

NEW DRYWALL ART SCULPTURE VIDEO! CHECK IT OUT! :)
czcams.com/video/vqwgB9A6teY/video.html
HOW MUCH WOULD COST ONE OF THAT... OR FROM VIDEO OR SOMETHING ELSE..!! A PLACE!!
I think I should win because as an artist doing a similar technique of
horses on the wall and in celebration of 50 years as an artist who is
part Swedish I need finish tools. Thanks for the nice video, great job,
nice work
+PrecisionTaping whoever edited this video needs to be fired.
+PrecisionTaping wow.... i'm a little past halfway through the video... again... WHOEVER EDITED THIS VIDEO NEEDS TO BE FUCKING FIRED. RIGHT NOW, before your company wastes any more of it's resources on their services.
+PrecisionTaping
it's so Great... fantastic!
What material uses Bernie?
IT's so elastic
Simply amazing. I am in awe of this man's talent.
Would love to have a wall with an old haunting cemetery. Love the art.
Cool video. Only issue was the music. Half expected Roman chariots to come crashing into the room.
Fantástico!
Beautiful work. I paint murals, this is the first time I see a drywall sculpture being created. What talent, specially using that spoon.
That is so cool, and very well done. It wouldn't have been anything I would have thought of that could be done. Love it.
so, i think the general consensus is the music, ah, doesn't quite fit. i would have liked some commentary instead, but that's just me. the artwork is amazing, but what i think we'd all like to know is:
1) what, exactly, is he using and not commentators' educated guesses?
2) how well does the artwork actually stick to the drywall over time and in various climates? i live in ohio and we get extreme temperatures sometimes, from wilting humidity to bitterly cold. so, if i did something like this to a wall in my little store, pieces aren't going to fall off at the first breeze, will they?
and i still cant draw an even star......
y
Very cool. The possibilities are endless. I will definitely pass this around to the design world and show these off.
That is awesome! love the music. Raw and primal!
I liked both the art and the choice of music.
Why is the music in these kind of videos always really weird and unsuited to the content? Nice work though.
I was thinking the same thing
Incredibly annoying. Good art though!
That music totally ruins the beauty of it. I had to mute to watch this.
UNBELIEVABLE ‼️ I didn't know this technique existed!‼️ You sir, are a fabulous artist‼️ Great tutorial ‼️👏🏼 GOD BLESS YOU.
I could watch Bernie by the hours. Just love him.
love the artwork but the music in this video is anoying
Sorry it wasn't your taste. Perhaps you'll like the music in our newest sculpting video czcams.com/video/vqwgB9A6teY/video.html
..
love the music, epic sculpting also i replayed the music to play my game made my adrenaline pump well! great vid
carlosfastcar1 it's not really art music is it lol
well if your doing the art im sure it would amp up your speed and creativity
Hi Bernie, you know what I just saw your video and I was really impressed big time, have to say that most times I watch a video on here I wont finish watching it.
I have seen a lot of different "relief" "embossing" stenciling, faux Etc. But I have not felt like omg wow! who is this guy (lol) probably not since Since I first saw Wolfgang Heinritz 3rd (faux marble in his family dates back to the early 1800's) at the PDCA Apprenticeship school many years ago. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR SKILL and TALENT WITH ALL OF US! Perry (tradesman painting & decorating 778435)
Just watched your video "Dome Ceiling" nice work,
you make it look to easy- you and crew are a real pro's
post more videos of your great looking jobs, Perry, Tradesman Painting & Decorating.
Perry Tradesman Thanks allot Perry! Appreciate the compliment! Thanks for tuning in!
Nice to hear back from you Bernie. I wanted to ask you a question about using pvc bullnose on a flat arch or like an eyebrow arch- I will send it via your website if its ok with you.
Perry-
If you're talking to me, I'm not Bernie. lol.
My name's Brian, Bernie was our featured guest, we filmed and edited the video.
I'd be happy to answer any question you may have.
Unless your question is actually directed to Bernie.
Hey Brian, I just saw your msg hope I did'n't bother you,
Perry-
Amazing stuff. I always wondered how somebody could do that. Now, answer came right in front of my own eyes. Cool.
I have always loved your work. I hope I can learn to make it in the future. It's really stunning.
WOW amazing work... terrible music just doesn't suit it, you really took away from his sheer talent by putting that crap music over his work. Astounding talent.
Here's an idea. Everybody make a comment on my post so that we knock little miss-high-and-mighty off the first spot on this video. What a great talent!!! Bernie can smoke and do art in my house any day!
it's really unfortunate that someone finds it so offensive to have witnessed myself having a cigarette.appro. 18 hrs. of accumulated video in a empty warehouse over a three day period and that was the only one I had within that building.i am old school and will not be apoligizing for that.i am really appreciative of all the positive feedback generated by this video and we are kicking the idea around of perhaps doing another video.thanks for all the remarks.
Bernie Mitchell Ready to film another video when you are!!!
PS: You can smoke all you want! haha!
Bernie Mitchell Hi Bernie, love the work. I happen to do smaller pieces typically under 2' x 3' so I understand the effort that goes into the craft.
I have a couple of questions for you. I saw your comments elsewhere in the thread about how you use premix and setting 90 combined. Any particular reason why you prefer that particular combo? I use 45 with no premix and I adjust the water depending on how much I want the mud to flow. Your insight would be appreciated.
At what depth do you begin to use armatures/reinforcement (e.g. wire/rebar/etc...). I've gone as deep as 3" without armature support but I've not tried anything deeper than that yet.
And lastly, you mentioned priming and painting in one of your comments below. Are you using PVA or just regular primer?
It's really just a preference for me to mix the two products.this is a combo I use on a regular basis for drywall finishing.9o for hardness premix for spreading qualities.I've never exceded a 3" application I use a regular primer for sealing the sculpture..Data Mobility Group LLC
Bernie Mitchell Thank you so much for such a quick reply Bernie. I know you've got other things to do and I appreciate it very much.
I think I'm going to experiment with a premix/setting blend just to see how it compares to my straight up 45. I know in the past I was not satisfied with how slowly premix sets so I shifted to SheetRock brand Easy Sand 45 and never bothered to look back.
Love, love love the work you're doing. Hope you have another great year.
ive been taping for years and that is just totally awesoe. one of the coolest things ive ever seen
Great vid ! Nice work Bernie. You make it look so easy.
you can view my website at creative drywall solutions
You, sir, are not just an artist, you're a wizard. A Merlin for these modern times. I couldn't take my eyes off the video. Your work is so beautiful.
I love what you did here, but please use better quality audio! Horrible!
rocks lttextu on
that was mesmerizing! amazing talent. the music....nice change from the ones usually used. thank you!
This guy is AWESOME!!! So much talent. Very cool.
Im all for electronic music and all.. but this music does not suit the video AT ALL..
Super cool artwork though :D
Bloody music distracts from actually concentration on tutorial so annoying
Beautiful work. Most ridiculous choice of music ever.
Haha true dat
Since the artwork is beautiful the music should be something peaceful and relaxing.
+thunderbirdice exactly
+Minion Rocks had to fast forward because of the annoying music
Dale Ferdinand BA
Pure talent. Nice job.
What a lovely work. Congrats. Thanks for sharing.
please chill with the music. it ruins the video.
Turn down or turn off the volume button. CZcams music choices suck and it takes forever to find something that suits the video.
That music made me think a Roman legion was going to ride over the ridge.
Congratulations to you all and in special to Artist Bernie Mitchel. It's an amazing art work. Thank you very much for sharing your talent with us. ( and the music is just great ;) )
It is amazing!!! Great job, love to see a fresh sculpted art piece. You are truely an artist.
Another great video destroyed by a horrible, ear-wrenching music choice
Top 3 comments are about the good art, but terrible music
I love his work! This is awesome😍
Omg! That is beautiful!! Such talent!!!!
A nod to the artist and his creativity but the music is enough to detract many people from appreciating the visuals
and artwork. Very distracting and unsettling. Again, music does not match content. I suggest replacing it.
Yes, music was a WRETCHED choice. I can see two twenty year old disc jockeys with no art experience what-so-ever in the background going--- "I know Wretched horror film techno would accompany this perfectly..." "high five dude!" (Facepalm)
very cre8ive!
(but the music was fuckin painful !)
had to turn it off!
I love this. It is absolutely beautiful and he is extremely talented.
uuuffff!!!!
amazingly beautiful made by hand 😍😍😍
Would have been nice without the music
Sassy The Sasquatch
"It would've been nice" without the music. Think about what you just said. Your comment would've been more meaningful if you said nothing. That wasn't nice. That was/is beautiful and it's a work of art regardless to the music he playing. If it's what gets him motivated then that his choice. Let him create don't knock him some of us appreciate watching talent at work. He's teaching a new creative technique that people could be able to do on their own but don't know it and all you learned is you don't like the music? Because he can do something you only wish you had the talent to do it doesn't take away the fact that it's a beautiful work of art. Stop hating. You and all of the other jealous talentless haters should just shut up and go listen to your favorite music videos and learn nothing If it's all your capable of. He doesn't need or you want these comments. If you just want to talk Bullshit then tweet Trump. views or comments. If you can't say anything nice, say what you know, NOTHING! Because of people like you who run off the mouth with stupidly and put talent down artists will stop posting their work and people like me who appreciate it and learn techniques or ideas will lose out. You people should appoligize it you have an ounce of class in you.
What an artist, but the music is deplorable. I mean just plain awful. I had to mute it.
Love it's what I've always wanted to learn how to for over 30 years.
Holy shit... the Bob Ross of drywall sculpture. Simply Awesome!
This is nice art, but why the need for hideous-violent-Terminator-horror-film-techno music behind it all? Afterall he's sculpting happy little trees and rivers.... ;)
very bad music
Absolutely stellar work!
Hi I'm from Nepal.I'm house painter.I have seen the dry wall sculpture video and its really amazing...love his work.
This is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. Good job dude.
I like how detailed his art work is.

facebook artistic drywall by Bernie mitchell
Bernie is the man! Great video!
I remember the first time I saw this on TV and I thought how pretty! I wish I could afford for him to do my walls!
Great work Bernie...!! Congratulations!!
I love d way his hands were moving, hipnotized,i am also in dry wall paintings, have some sculptures, made by me, like mountains, rocks ,etc, but I paint them with along with scenario to give them 3d look, like waterfall rocks sculpted but eater trees all r painted ,combination gives them 3d look ,I loved that
I have 3 rooms with unfinished drywall for 10 years in an 1800 year old farm house! Looking forward to trying this art!!!
This is awesome! Bernie is amazing.
I love the art as well as the psychoactive music! It's kind of funny how if you like it it makes you like it even more, and if you hate it, it drives you crazy hahaha. Good job!
So very beautiful. Amazing artist.
Very nice! Love to see other artists work. Thanks for sharing the excellent video.
Amazing work! I like everything of the artist !
video made me tears of joy for mankind . cool guy , keep it up!
I actually have a sculpture made of the same materials - but it's in the shape of a six-foot bonsai style tree. it's absolutely gorgeous!
Amazing you've been blessed with a great talent
I'm not quite sure how I ended up here, but I'm glad I did. I found an amazing artist. The sculpture, if that is the correct term to use, was magnificent to see being made. Thanks for the video.
Waw you are so talented! Well done !! That is amazing !!!
totally off the hook, incredible man
