The book a little odd to look at visually though. Having seen the animated film beforehand, the main thing I keep noticing is how much *smaller* Aquaman is XD

I first heard of Flashpoint when I was with friends playing boardgames (we're all huge nerds), i thought "dude that's flipping amazing." then i saw the animated movie flashpoint, it blew my brain. Thanks for covering this story line. Still tears me up hearing this story made Batman tear up receiving a letter from his father.
I;m not gonna lie. When I first read this story and it came to the part where Bruce reads the letter from him dad my old dusty ass started to tear up. Well done Geoff Johns. Well done, indeed. Now just stop resetting the DC universe every few years.

I absolutely love Flashpoint. Flash has always been my favorite DC hero and this just felt like the perfect story for him. I don't know if he's had a better one since, though DC Rebirth and Wally's current Titans run are doing well for me.
booster gold is easily an awesome tie-in. it's worth covering. you don't have to cover the time masters vanishing point prequel, but you may want to at least mention it if you ever cover booster.
There is an echo of the little boy that I once was inside me. The boy that wanted to wear a red cape and fly. The boy that wanted to breath out fires and save people in danger. That echo makes me so star struck at the very idea of heroes willing to risk it all to do the right thing. I'm a hard ass, but, I'm not ashamed that this is one of of a short list of stories that make me tear up. You really did it justice Rob. You affected me.

I love the fact that they kept the same theme overall of the main JLA members being gods, which gets nicely tied together with Flash being a messenger just like Hermes.

One day after completing the entirety of what Netflix currently had on "The Flash" I then came across this exact story. Rob you did an excellent job of explaining this storyline in the aspect of reminding me of things that I forgot as well as allowing me to relive what I had watched on Netflix. My personal favorite character alternative would have to be Batman which I first learned about while playing the first "Injustice" which gave character bios along with alternatives to almost each characters. This along with the fact that Batman has always been my favorite DC character is what made his story my favorite.

Eobard Thawne was not trapped in the Speed Force before Flashpoint. He was imprisoned in Iron Heights when Barry and Wally defeated him. There was even a line of Flash comics before Flashpoint called "Road to Flashpoint" where we see Thawne still imprisoned following the events of Flash Rebirth and is freed by Captain Boomerang. He and Barry fight a little right before the events of Flashpoint and that sort of sparks the whole thing.
to me, being someone who only got into comics a few short years ago, the 9 words, "you're one hell of a messenger thank you Barry" are some of the most iconic words ever spoken and its the one time i've read something and gone... "fuck that made me feel shit i didn't think i could feel just reading a comic"
really the only thing that ruined New 52 was what they did with Superman. They took the single most badass character that DC has and turned him into a total bitch. Kinda glad they killed him off to make room for old school Soops again.
+TJ With the exeception of Wonder Woman, all those books were planed before the reboot and mantain a lost of Post-Crisis continuity, wich make things kind of confusing, is a problem with all DC reboots, they never go from zero ground and mantain to much of the previous continuity that make everything more confusing and inevitable led to more reboots. They are kind of trapped in a vicious cycle.
fun fact... in The Sandman, the personification of Death allows Elemental Woman to die because she can't physically die on her own. it's a well-written story. oh, also, Batman cries probably a total of 4 times before this event... not always in continuity. so, not often. lol

FLASH TV SHOW SPOILERS Man the Flashpoint event in the TV show was just *massively* disappointing. Everything went to hell in the comics so he needed to fix that. What happened in the alternate universe in the TV show? Some people's lives were just a tad more sucky, and Barry was going to forget his old life. Like...*so what*? In the comics he changed things back to save everyone, in the tv show he had *his own mother killed again*, *just so he could remember and continue being The Flash*. He went from selfless sacrifice in the comics to just stupid and selfish in the tv show. Even if they do more, that initial bit was just *massively* disappointing.
Actually, I don't think Wally was dying in the show. He got hurt really bad, but I think they said he was going to live. Besides, even if he did die - 1 dead person you've only known for a year or so < 2 dead parents. That's why it seemed to be so much of a letdown in the show: in the comics/movie he had SO much worse consequences from screwing w/ the timeline and he still struggled with the decision a little which showed just how much his mother meant to him - it seemed like more of a sacrifice even though the stakes were wildly lopsided towards his mother dying being the lesser of two evils.
The repercussions are felt throughout the entire season. Primarily, it allowed Savatar and Alchemy to draw upon the alternate possibilities of Flashpoint characters. They couldn't exactly do anything as big as this, although the Flash movie is labelled as 'Flashpoint' so we will have to see how that pans out.

Taken on its own, Flashpoint is an excellent story, but the taint of New 52 remains in my minds.

Flashpoint was the bomb! And even though he got a note from his dead father, after Bruce reads it, Batman goes right back to work.
