Are you looking to build a powerful, competitive Magic The Gathering deck in an instant? Do you find the idea of spending $20 on a fully upgraded list that never rotates, never expires and never tires of winning to be an enchanting one? Then have I got a deck for you: Pauper Heroes, 2 Powerful, fully upgraded top decks for only $20 each.
Pauper Heroes are one of Pauper’s “go tall” decks. Each build wants to stack up a large creature that can end the game in short order. In that sense, it is similar to a few heavily played decks such as Izzet Blitz, Boggles Hexproof, and Tireless Tribe Combo, but while each of those are fine options, they all run multiple colors and focus more on digging for answers than smashing face with overwhelming value. In contrast, these Heroic decks are each mono-White, and as such they have the advantage of rock solid mana bases which never trickle out. Let’s take a look!
There are two style of Pauper Heroic decks, Instant and Enchantment based. Each list will only run you about $20 in paper or 5-10 tix online, and they each have distinct advantages and gameplay antics.
Heroic takes its name from creatures with the Heroic ability. Heroic benefits the creature when it is the target of a spell or ability, giving that creature advantage in the way of pump, counters or added abilities.
The goal is to enhance these creatures with spells until they cannot be stopped, and as I said, there are two distinct versions of this deck - one leaning more on Auras, the other on Instants.
Both have merits and play for slightly different metagames. While neither are as good at “one shotting” their adversary, their robust creatures once properly suited up can overwhelm your opponents over the course of just one to two combat steps.
Both also share a core of cards in common. Let’s begin by looking at the cards both versions of the deck run, then discuss the differences between going into Instants or Enchantment Auras. - Hry

I'm just getting back into mtg since 1995, lol, and the dinosaur on the booster pack is what prompted me buy one (at Target ewww...). I'd love to see more brewing for standard on this channel. There's plenty of other channels that do, but none with your style!

Thank you Prof! Your budget UW Heroic deck for Theros-Khans standard is the deck that got me back into the game after 10 years away, so you better believe I've already been playing Heroic in Pauper! I prefer Boros, but since Seeker got downshifted, I'm definitely trying out Mono W now.

I had a casual deck that ran a playset of Cho-Manno's Blessing and Wall of Glare. Just yesterday, I was brewing in my head, trying to come up with a pauper deck that might play in a similar way, as my entry into the format. Lo and behold, the prof answers my prayer! Thanks, Prof!
Thank you for posting this, I wanted to get in Pauper and still play a competitive deck but with the growing popularity of Pauper some decks have gone up to $75 to $100,. I spent $20 total buying ALL the cards on this video at my LCS and went undefeated at the Pauper League event today.

I love this deck because some of the core cards like Akroan Skyguard, Seeker of the way, Ethereal Armor, Gods Willing, and Defiant Strike were cards I used at some point when I use to play standard. I'll totally want to build this now as these decks give a nostalgic feeling of when I enjoyed standard.
I'm so excited to start playing Pauper, I'm already building a tortured existence and this one has been on my radar for a while!

I love the Pauper deck tecks, I am working on building a few of these decks so I can sit down with friends and have decks that are fun, interactive, and on a similar power level.
I mostly play competitive magic formats (mostly modern, legacy, now standard again probably) but at home my roommates play casual decks (a few duel decks, battle decks from CK, stuff I built, etc) but I've been wanting to buy a few pauper decks to have other options other than my few modern decks neither roommates will be very comfortable playingl
Made a Boros Heroic Pauper deck last year and I always enjoy running it. Hits hard and fast.

I've played a few pauper leagues on mtgo and I've seen this deck more often than any top tier deck, and it's probably the hardest for me to beat behind elves. Great deck tech tho, really like the pauper content

I feel like Extort is another key mechanic that can be used in the deck. Syndicate of tithes is a 2/2 bear with extort that benefits just like seeker of the way when a spell is targeted on a heroic creature or just any spell for that matter. Conviction is another cool aura that can pick itself up which enables a constant stream of heroic, prowess, and extort triggers and in one.

Ahhhhhh I love Pauper Heroes! I 'came up' with the idea all on my own (obviously it had already been made, I just reinvented the wheel in isolation). I tried to make it R/W though because I felt like mark of fury was so useful (it returns to hand) but the deck kind of sucked. I also tried Naya heroes. Will try this one out!
I’m interested in the mono-white enchantress version, but I really want Ethereal Armor to get huge fast. The notion of dropping a Nyxborn Shieldmate T1 and then following it up by putting Armor and potentially flashing in a protective aura before swinging sounds fun.
Trying to build the enchantment version this deck. Unfortunately not all of the cards are on Card Kingdom, but
never the less, I will strive to complete this deck in any way that I can!
I ran a heroic red/white and just white back when theros came out. R?W worked well. many hero triggers and direct damage made for fast games
I built a Red White version of this deck as my first Pauper deck. It cost me $15 to order all the cards so i didn't have to dismantle any of my other decks. Its a budget version but still does really well against tier 1 decks. Heck, even tho i have them, i don't run lightning bolt!
You've got to discuss the Burn continuum: the same shell plays out in Modern, Legacy, and Pauper.
Hello Prof, These are very close to my mono whit infect pauper build. I think you should include "Plow Through Reito" as at least a one-of in both these decks, for busting out the surprise win.
Maybe also some "Seal of Cleansing" in the enchantment list sideboard, too.
I played in a pauper tournament by buying new cards in my LGS the day of a tournament, just to change my Izzet deck. XD its a pretty fun and cheap format. Love it.

Second of all I wanted to ask you when we'll be watching a new modern blue/green Merfolck list on this channel... Namir The Blind There's no true Storm deck because all the Storm cards are banned, but there are a few awesome combo decks. I'd recommend Jeskai Familiars by dragon420 (actually generates infinite Storm Count when it goes off) or Tireless Tribe (aka Inside Out) combo

Still rocking heroes in any format since they came out lol they're just so flexible, I almost wanna say it's the poor mans Jund aggro, ya got explosive double swings from red, life link and protection from white, heroic trigger spam and mana fixing from green, card draw and tempo from blue and finally greedy black that wants to be every color lol

I’d probably do Kami of False Hope over Benevolent Bodyguard, or even alongside him as additional protection as a creature for one preventing all combat damage on a turn.
ShiitakeSpaceWarrior Benevolent Bodyguard isn't in there to block profitably. You need protection effects to prevent kill spells from resolving and blockers from being declared. Kami can't do either of those things.

im two ideas in my head that actualy i don't have the chance to test one was a rakdos madness burn using mostly lighting bolt. fiery temper and the black madness for B for 3 drain but i have no good biff for the battlefield.
another and quite a favourite it's a dimir taigan scheme and contingency plan use for dig the library and throw masive targets to graveyard for exhume propous. but as i said they are just noygood enought. can you give me some advices.
i'm trying to made different decks for fun and more apreciation of the format.

I hope pauper really takes off. I love playing magic but just cant afford my favorite format which is modern. Pauper is everything i love about modern but affordable
I see a lot of comments saying stuff about PDH, Pauper Commander. I'd like to recommend ppl try PDH in the same style as French/Duel commander (1v1 with 20 life). It fixes the board stalls and streamlines play. I call it PDH Duel. It's probably the best format in mtg. It combines the best aspects of Pauper, EDH, and CanLander. It's an undiscovered gem of a format.
Professor, what are your thoughts on a Green-White Heroic deck? I built one when I was new to Pauper, and had great success with it. Are there any green cards you like enough to splash/add a colour?

Oh it is not only Gorilla Shaman and Oubliette - Circular Logic is already $5, Gush is back to almost $7, Ash Barrens also commands a $5+ price tag. I am also seeing the buyout pattern for other staples like Priest of Titania, Chainer`s Edict, Tangle, Journey to Nowhere, Prismatic Strand - all the English-friendly online stores in Japan are sold out of these cards within less than 2 weeks. The same happened during the Grim Monolith and Runed Halo buyouts - a massive price spike is about to happen. Get your Pauper staples now folks.

Fitteraxe1280 it is not as fun as it sounds, it ends up being too slow and you do not have those game changing spells that are what makes EDH so fun. I prefer to set a budget when playing with friends
It's absolutely as fun as it sounds. I play PDH, pauper commander, but 1v1 with 20 life. Its pretty much like Fench/Duel Commander but Pauper. It's great. May be the best format in mtg. It fixes the problems multiplayer pauper has, like heavy board stalls. I call it PDH Duel. And it rocks.
