I ran into Vince Gill at Rudy's Guitars in NYC last fall. I was nervous to talk to him, but I decided I would. I went up to him and told him I loved his guitar playing. He shook my hand, asked my name, and then folded his arms, as if he was settling in for a long conversation. We chatted about other guitarists we like. He did not have to do that. I'm sure it's a conscious decision on his part to treat people who come up to him with respect. Taught me a good lesson to always give people your time, courtesy and respect.
I ABSOLUTELY adore Vince .He comes across as such a careing @ kind person. A fantastic guitarist person, the very best ever .Just like Merle taught him. I am so happy Vince found love with Amy.i have been following Vince for around 45years .He was so handsome , ( still is ) An awesome story teller @ a comic. I still am a huge fan of Vince .l listen to him every day as disabled now @ have time to listen to all of Vince's songs. I never ever get tired of Vince as his voice is so unique and gentle .No screeching like some singers .He is so enjoyable to listen to. LOVE you Vince. Decent human I was struck by the authentic compassion he had during George Jones funeral. He made it OK to feel the sorrow that we all had for that good person that we all lost. I don't know him but a person who I would like to meet. I believe he is the Christian example of what it may be like to meet Jesus. Now I'm not saying that he is Jesus. I'm just saying that in today's society it is not ok to be moved to tears.i just see compassion in him that is not seen. To me, Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs are two of the greatest musicians in my time. They are very talented with instruments, have amazing vocals, and they are down to earth humble guys. I saw Vince at a small concert in a park in Modesto in the early 1990s, I never saw Ricky perform, but Vince was my moms favorite and when I hear his songs, it reminds me of mom.
michael mullins I met him at one of his shows a couple of years ago and my wife and I took pictures with him and he was just the nicest, most humble person you could want to meet. He really connects with his fans and appreciates them! He is by far one of my favorite pickers. I have the pic of him and my wife and I on my fridge.

He had played for almost 3 hours with his great band and yet, came out to sign autographs and have photos taken even though he looked so tired. A wonderful time!

Vince has more talent in his little finger than most will have in their entire life.. but he's a humble, grateful person. I've seen Vince eating at Noshville, he's polite and unassuming, if you didn't know who he was, you would just think he's a regular guy. PLUS he's a Predators fan!!!
You know, in reality, he is just a regular guy and would rather be thought of that way. If he ever had a celebrity complex, he outgrew it. I met him a few years ago, and we became friends, and he is the genuine article - no put on, humble, gracious, and when he talks to you he talks to you. One of the best men I know. After my wife was killed in Oct of 2016, he invited me to their Christmas show, called me by name from the stage, and dedicated Go Rest High On That Mountain to me and my recently deceased wife. I was walking in the back door entrance & he was walking in...my friend Robin had a guitar for George to look at, but Vince said hey what's in the case? So needless to say we talked & he played the guitar very nice man hope to see him again around town sometime.

You know, why do people have to 2nd guess the sincerity of what a person,says? Vince mentions how much he appreciated his parents scrimping and saving to get his first guitar and amp, a Gibson guitar and a Fender Super Reverb amp, both of which he still owns. A few people here are like, come on Vince get real. Being an attorney your father would not have had to scrimp and save all that much for it! What a rude and asinine thing to say. You have absolutely No right or reason to assume they did not have to scrimp and save to purchase these items for Vince or to insinuate for any reason it was not a sacrifice. Perhaps they were indebted greatly for law school since his dad was an attorney. Perhaps they had other types of indebtedness let's say medical bills, paying for any other myriad of types of living experiences. None of us know the circumstances of the families surrounding us. The point is, if Vince says his Parents had to sacrifice, then they SACRIFICED! Period! Vince has always appeared to be a good, honest, man who has sacrificed his entire life to get where he is thus far. He and Amy Grant are known by others to be one of the finest couples around, celebrity or otherwise; humorous, kind, loyal (very rare in these days), extremely talented, one of the best guitar players in the world, filled with fun in willing to give and take a good joke. I could listen to many of the stories he tells forever. (Especially the story of "Willis" and the black,woman who thought she had seen you before and wanted you to sing with her, had me rolling on the floor! Bottom line, if I could choose to meet any human being, Vince and his beautiful wife, Amy Grant, would certainly be included in the list. I certainly am not perfect, but let's not 2nd guess any man's sincere words or motives they use to when they give us examples as those who are used as being the their own personal examples. Thank you Gil and Amy for the beautiful music you have given to the world, singly and collectively. Thank you both for the example you set as being one of the most loyal and happy couples. I pray you both are given the strength you need assist and to resist the temptations we all seem to face in life to resist temptations to stray from one another or to choose wrong paths or decisions. Please have the wisdom we all need to look before you leap. You both deserve all you have achieved for all the hard work you have done. Others I have seen all speak kindly and respectfully of you both and for this to happen it shows you both are true friends to those you consider your friends. Keeping the love and respect of others takes work to keep their love and respect. I sincerely hope that one day I have an opportunity to meet you both personally, to simply BS and thank you both for the joy you've brought to the world and if I am lucky enough, to even sing and play guitar with the legends that you are. Its a shame that folks can't look at someone through their talents and who they are in their heart and soul and not with a weight scale. Such a sad world that we have to be judged on our weight and nothing else. What ever happened with just being happy with who you are? This is not a barbie and ken world, or at least it shouldn't be. Seems like a genuine, sincere chap - I like his guitar playing, although I am not a fan of corny country songs, there are some good ones but a lot of dreary ones too. Each to his own. I agree about the emotion of music, music is an emotive medium.
I think he comes across a real decent man.

Smart man and good advice
You know, why do people have to 2nd guess the sincerity of what a person,says? Vince mentions how much he appreciated his parents scrimping and saving to get his first guitar and amp, a Gibson guitar and a Fender Super Reverb amp, both of which he still owns. A few people here are like, come on Vince get real. Being an attorney your father would not have had to scrimp and save all that much for it! What a rude and asinine thing to say. You have absolutely No right or reason to assume they did not have to scrimp and save to purchase these items for Vince or to insinuate for any reason it was not a sacrifice. Perhaps they were indebted greatly for law school since his dad was an attorney. Perhaps they had other types of indebtedness let's say medical bills, paying for any other myriad of types of living experiences. None of us know the circumstances of the families surrounding us. The point is, if Vince says his Parents had to sacrifice, then they SACRIFICED! Period! Vince has always appeared to be a good, honest, man who has sacrificed his entire life to get where he is thus far. He and Amy Grant are known by others to be one of the finest couples around, celebrity or otherwise; humorous, kind, loyal (very rare in these days), extremely talented, one of the best guitar players in the world, filled with fun in willing to give and take a good joke. I could listen to many of the stories he tells forever. (Especially the story of "Willis" and the black,woman who thought she had seen you before and wanted you to sing with her, had me rolling on the floor! Bottom line, if I could choose to meet any human being, Vince and his beautiful wife, Amy Grant, would certainly be included in the list. I certainly am not perfect, but let's not 2nd guess any man's sincere words or motives they use to when they give us examples as those who are used as being the their own personal examples. Thank you Gil and Amy for the beautiful music you have given to the world, singly and collectively. Thank you both for the example you set as being one of the most loyal and happy couples. I pray you both are given the strength you need assist and to resist the temptations we all seem to face in life to resist temptations to stray from one another or to choose wrong paths or decisions. Please have the wisdom we all need to look before you leap. You both deserve all you have achieved for all the hard work you have done. Others I have seen all speak kindly and respectfully of you both and for this to happen it shows you both are true friends to those you consider your friends. Keeping the love and respect of others takes work to keep their love and respect. I sincerely hope that one day I have an opportunity to meet you both personally, to simply BS and thank you both for the joy you've brought to the world and if I am lucky enough, to even sing and play guitar with the legends that you are. Good Health and nothing but love to you both!

Imagine if I had started with my, now, ‘78 Vintage Les Paul from Day 1.....I’d be sitting on that sofa being interviewed maybe! 🙃
