A major change in the traffic arrangements at the sangster international airport in Montego Bay Jamaica looks like a brilliant idea and has reduced the traffic congestion at the entrance to the island major airport.

I think if signage of departures, arrivals and exits is marked or painted on the road it would also be an asset. Their will be no confusion

As I've said before, the north coast has some of the most fantastic scenes. You Stewy have been giving us some exciting shots and narrative. Just hope the police can get the crime under control then it would really be paradise.

See, this is why Stewy is the big boss! When we left March 19th, my buddy who always transports us had trouble figuring out where to go. It's marked but not very clearly. Then when you get dropped off... Ugh. It might make sense when it's completed, but right now it's kinda confusing. Blessings to you always Stewy for these videos. You do more for Jamaica than you realize.

Stewy I love your commitment to showcasing all aspects of Jamaican general aviation. I'm impressed with the progess since I last saw it in January. Also those e-gates are a significant improvement. Jamaica is now competing with the developed world. I was just in Dubai and I saw how efficient they can be.

The government should assist the people living in Flanker to relocate..this would be an excellent idea to extend the airport. This l believe sees many more flights coming and going out of this busy airport.
The runway has already been extended so just about any aircraft can land there now.

@@larrysmith3102 Actually there's lots of overnight parking for aircraft, but the airport charges for overnight parking so airlines shy away from dong so.

I think it's an improvement. Does control and direct traffic efficiently. Traveled out of Mobay earlier this month. Was pleased as there's space for drop-offs without being rushed.

The new initiative has a look of JFK airport
The left merge to depatures is too sudden, a bit narrow and better signage is needed.. Would be good to use the blue and white signs and better text or symbols... The exit right from the departure section where you have to wait on this long line of traffic before going all the way to the right to exit the airport needs rethinking. We need a spit level airport Departures up up Arrival below), a extra runway and at least 11 more gates. 5-6 planes waiting to park is getting out of hand.
It doesn't have to be extravagant where its a 20 overpass but enough that tour buses can pass under. And insted of those distracting yellow barriers use jersey ones with reflectors.
I think they will continue to improve and will definitely get better as the regular users become more familiar with the new, more gates needed for sure, do have a great evening and thanks for watching

Nice video! Can see the reasons why so many persons have asked for better signage.
Also, I see you came from the Jimmy Cliff Blvd end. How is the approach from Ironshore end or Queens Blvd ska top rd end? Getting around the roundabout and all the way left seems like it could be more challenging. While it may not be be so easy and costly, feel like they should have just removed the roundabout and made a four way intersection with traffic lights and some fly over under lanes there.

@@1STEWY All these tourists coming in are loading up TEF coffers, instead of fancy signs, this is where they should spend the funds. The roundabout has outlived its usefulness and in reality, it is a 4-way intersection. A good engineer could rework it into a nice intersection and being on a hillside helps. Even the 20 million pretty sign can work its way back into the project.
I was at the airport recently, and I was shocked to see how dated and filthy the arrival area of the airport is. The departure area is not bad, but man, was I disappointed to see so many people assembled outside of arrival area doing nothing. And, why they don't trim the grass and cut the bushes near the runway area? Blessed love

I don't see designated places for vehicles to stop and unload in the departure area. Also, the longer approach will waste critical time when trying to make a flight. The arrival approach should have been the one lengthened. It doesn't appear that they have made any changes to the arrivals pickup area, which can be crazy as well.

Traffic planners at MBJ are a joke IMO. The zoo at passenger pickup remains, I would expect. Abuse of the fees paid by every passenger.
Absolutely no advantage to the new back road into departures. They could have made the 'departures" lane 4, closest to the parking lot, a no-stopping zone

Why don't they just make a multi story parking garage with a higher ground floor and move the rent a car there so they can have more space in arrival instead of using up soo much prime space for single level parking?
The parking lots also have solar panels as their roofs. When completed, MBJ airport may have the largest solar array in the Caribbean.
Agreed about multilevel parking. The solar panels can always be on the top floor of the garage.

They're not done. This is on-going. The masterplan which they are currently implementing when concluded will have
1. Expanded departing and arrivals lobby
2. Separation of incoming and departing traffic
3. Additional gates
4. Modernization of the terminal
5. Expansion of immigration hall
6. Additional parking lots
7. Airport Hotel
8. Additional retail spaces
