A genocide is the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group.
This is far from it, if Israel wanted to kill all Gazans it wouldn't evacuate the civilians away from the areas of the fight and also it would have killed a lot more than 30,000.
To show that there is a genocide you would have to show that the Israeli attacks are indiscriminate and so far everything shows that they are targeting Hamas.

People really need to understand that self-defence doesn't apply to an occupying force. An occupier is already in an offensive stance, they are the aggressor. The whole idea of self-defense is withstanding or protecting yourself against the aggressor. Shutting down the resistance of an occupied people does not constitute self-defense... The moment you occupy another people, by definition you unsubscribe from the concept of self-defence.

This is why people in the US have know idea what’s actually been happening there for decades. (To be fair, many in the US do know, but either don’t care or endorse it.)

In around 2002 I was in a where the local university invited Dr. Hanan Ashrawi to give a talk. Dr. Ashrawi is a well educated, English speaking, Christian Palestinian who was a member of the Oslo negotiations team.
I think this was right around the time that Ariel Sharon invaded the Jenin refugee camp, but don’t remember if it happened before or after.
There was so much protest ahead of the lecture, with letters to the editor calling her either a trrst or someone sympathetic to them. Then in the day of the lecture, pro Israel protestors were bussed in from neighboring cities.
I think the talk went on anyway, but they did everything to sabotage it or intimidate people into avoiding it so as to not be associated with a ‘trrst sympathizer,’ etc.
