How to Move a Piano

- We hired Music Box to move our Baby Grand Piano. They were strong and they were great, just what you need to do the job properly. I'm a strong man but these guys were amazing! I'd say don't mess with em, especially Fred the "HEAD" mover !
- Jak na to + styl
Next minute: "Oh wait I forgot my wife wanted the piano to be downstairs".
1:22 “Could you take the dog for a second.”
That piano mover guy is infinitely more polite and patient than I would be. I would be using some serious Anglo-Saxon if the homeowner had a dog running around while I’m trying to move a grand piano.
"What's your favorite piano concerto?"
"The one where you shut the hell up and get your damn dog out from underfoot in Bb."
HOW TO DISTRACT YOUR MOVERS. 1 Follow them with a camera. 2 Unleash your dog and allow it to annoy them. 3 Small talk with the movers at critical moments of the move. 4 Question the amount of experience the movers have as they attempt the most difficult part of the move. 5 Make suggestions every time you see them struggle and if you can't think of one, 6 ask them questions like why they don't have a crane or a magic carpet.Six simple steps that will definitely cause them to knock over a vase.
My thought exactly. Absolutely no concept of the importance of allowing people to get on with their job.
Lester Carriere lmao
This is practically every customer I've ever dealt with.

Typical boomer. Probably didn’t tip either.
To move any pianos is to learn your 3ps. Personal, Property and Piano. 🎹🎹
i was a piano mover for a day - was the worst job in my life. people just stood there and were so amused, as my legs trembled at the disbelief how heavy the freakin thing was. i commend you guys... you are real men in my book.
Very PATIENT piano movers...
Man that old guy went beastmode. Respect.
Worth recording. All movers are under appreciated for the many fetes that they go through to deliver satisfaction. I applaud those guys for their ingenuity to get you your piano where you wanted it. Bravo, Guys! The person recording, you owed us a performance of thanks for all their work. And to see your product.
At 3:29 when he grabbed the glass ..my heart dropped.
Of course, there is a glass-paned, double-leveled stairway. How much worse could it be? These movers are beasts!!
Man I'm a mover and goddamn that old man strong af
Respect to these guys... Some twenty years ago a friend asked me to help move a piano. It was a smallish upright piano and damn.... I still remember that experience to this day!! Those things are heavy as you can not imagine! We were 3 and we almost gave up and were almost dead after we finished.
That was one experience I vowed not to repeat in my life, and so far am succeeding at it!!
thats a strong old man right there, i hope to be that strong at his age.
What blows the most is after the job, fattigue cramps and a deep sense of "man today sucked gotta do it again tomorrow".....
I can feel the tension and anxiety for everyone involved. Dear Lord. The dynamic music fits the scene!!
Nice job movers, you are so incredibly strong!!
This customer asks all the same questions of these guys they asked me every day. "How many do you move?" "How heavy is that?" "Do you play?" Everybody has to tell you about Laurel and Hardy.
Good job . As any real mover knows , you use whatever you can to get it up & in . Shoulder , head whatever it takes.
that guys head played a vital part in the moving of the piano.
Just wait, everything is all good now but they will complain of scuffs on the floor that were already there
good job. ive been a mover for ten years so far and Dam! you guys did it good. great communication skills. good job in analyzing the terrain. i bet you made a pretty penny.
yeah, 'cept for the part with the plant :P
That's an awesome effort! Talk about using your head, my man. Great job and awesome big men working as a good team. Thank you for posting.
Im a piano mover now and i'm horrified to see how this guy is pushing with his head! I've never done it that way and still had to get four vertebra fused together... I know he lost a couple of inches in height through the years!
Im a Mover for moré then 40yrs and this s just a moving da for them, Bit some pepole will show thier thank you and GIVE A MOVER A GOOD TIP , GOD BLESS THOSE BOYS
Why was I waiting for the owner to start playing the Tchaikovsky piano concerto? LOL
Rugby skills in full effect.
Never stick your hands under the skid
at 4:33 the old man is thinking ( i´m to old for this shit )
After age 40 carrying weight is at your own risk because you can damage a body part that may not be easily replaced biologically.
nice job you guys team work all was work out well
💪💪💪💪 old man get it done
You guys are Amazing!
Annoying customers smh..... Great job, guys. # Under appreciated.
I bet they appreciated being filmed throughout.... "you ever dropped one?"... "No,no non no no..."
So happy that all 3 legs were attached BEFORE the pedals were attached.
Oh man, i think these guys do this transport in a complete other wise, then we do. So much pain on the head of the "strongest one"
Greets to you! Good job!
I’ve moved a ton of them in my life. Mayflower (my dads agency) and Atlas. And friends and family..... It’s an art and not for the weak.
a lot of respect for them
Awesome video!
Well done!
Who ever is recording I hoped you “Tip” them
Have to move a pump organ up then down a set. Then an upright downstairs you guys are beasts!
They must be paying these people a great deal of cash for moving such a delicate piece of furniture.
That sure was a challenge on that , but they did it ..
Bravo!
They earned their pay that day.
Company a conversation with such music is pretty funny , but none or less .
Uhh...
No uh-
I don't ha- I don't ha- I don't...
*takes a sip from water bottle*
I don't have a piano...
But I do have a fifteen year old daughter, that needs a date to the dance on friday.
This customer would annoy the heck out of me, asking questions during critical parts of the job, asking about their expertise in the middle of raising the piano, dumb suggestions about the crane, no wonder they almost dropped a vase. He's lucky his dog survived this, since he was too busy getting into movers faces instead of curbing the dog.
We're gonna move in six months
Somebody get these guys a cerveza!
"1,2, hup." No guessing where he's from! #NLboven
With all the modern technologies, can they make lightweight pianos with quality sounds?
Not bad, It's easier to keep it tilted and slide it towards the stairs at a 45. Then the pushing is the only hard part
Hook a refer dollie to the piano board. This is how you destroy fragile steps, pianos, and movers backs!
One of those great electric piano stair-climbers would have made short work of this huge job!
TUNE THATPIANO moving 1 piano is not a huge job. Many moving jobs we have to move a piano along with everything else in the house. I would love moving only pianos all day. In and out each job. It's a different ball game when the piano is only one small part of the whole job.
Tchaikovsky - piano concerto no. 1
Ohh god mind the glass 😮🤯
these guy really know what they are doing when it come to moving a piano. household mover that mostly move your belongings from one house to an other, they also know how to move all kinds of pianos. so if your moving from one house to an other and you have a grand piano, i would make sure that the moving company that you are going with has experience with moving all types of piano.
Any company and practically any person with strong legs and forearms can move an upright piano fairly easily, it starts to turn into a specialist field when you get a 5ft baby grand

Uh. Bravo kolege!
My piano arriving to my new home by #You👂👂
Way to use your head Fred.
how much was the tip? 100 per man?
The guy on the bottom doing nothing needs to be given a strap and put up top with the guy doing all the work
They got it up and that's great, but Fred the Head's so damn lucky he didn't loosen or break the glass banister.
The biggest problem however, was that the blanket on the stairs created such a highly dangerous situation it could've made Fred very very dead. Heavy sideways-ish pound force against smooth blankets usually results in slippage due to friction. If that had occurred and top guy loses his grip ....Fred's neck would be the only thing between the ground and a 1000lb Baby Grand. w = mg
mine doesn't fit the elevator... the movers have to carry it all the way by stairs...
Ever heard of a crane?
how about offering them a drink and 20 bucks each Jesus man.
Come to Poland , we show you, how we make it :P
hahah, i would just hire them to move the piano up and down, each weak, Just for pure pleasure of watching haha
that;s irish rocky barboa
8:17 "da-da-da-daaaaaa" is the Beethoven 5th Symphony, not piano Concerto as you asked....
There has to be better floor protection than the moving pads. They have a tendency to slide out from underneath you when lifting heavy items like this
we use carpet tack and rug runners where I work. the rug runners are rubber so they grip wood a lot better but even they slipout time to time
I'an from România i'deal with something like this within the csr group company(on youtube)and i want to work in the US in this field,co you help me?
I used to do 3 to 5 a week,
Yes the big mover is Dutch I believe!
Did he damage the stairs?
Csr group ,România tough
The camera man is Elliot Gould
haha that plant tho wtf ....
THE PROBLEM WITH EXPERIENCE MOVERS IS ALL ARE EXPERT AND KNOW EVERYTHING, NOBODY KNOWS MORE THAN THEM, THE ONLY WAY TO DO THINGS WELL IS AS THEY SAY,FOR THEM THERE IS NO OTHER WAY AND NEVER DARE TO GIVE THEM ADVICE , YOU INSUL THEM!!!!!! OF THOSE THERE ARE MANY COMMENTED HERE.
DAVID LOPEZ lol what?
No le sucede nada al piano cuando se apoya en dos patas en el suelo??
Couldn't a dolly with straps have done it
2:19 dont put you're head in the grand!
Concerto no 1 by Thavkovsky yes!!!!
I agree with some here. They were lucky not to have gotten hurt. Especially whe the older guy used the glas to push himself ( and the piano) up those stairs. I'm 5ft. 5 inches and I've moved a piano with another man a little bigger than myself. I'm not saying it was a walk in the park, but it was always a lot safer than that. It doesn't help when the shipper is in your face with a camera, but I'm sure he thinks he's covering his ass when he does it ,and all he's doing is getting in the way and making the movers uncomfortable and pissed off, nobody likes that when moving a heavy piece. A simple couple of still photos will suffice for a claim. But , they got it done( that time, who knows how many claims they have) to live to move another piano.
Nederlanders!!! (at least one man is dutch right?)
The neck s

Damn bro you did the wrong roids
I get tired just watching them and listening background music. I need a brake.
i like my skull! i rather do it my way :-)
I'm a professional piano mover and yes it is def a mans job
Nobody asked
That can't be good for your neck. These guys need a shoulder dolly.
Hello respect for what you do! but that’s not how a piano was made 😂.
🤣😂😂😂😂
The head pushing technique is not really the best way to move a grand piano
I thought he was merely keeping his head in its usual place (on his shoulders) while pushing with his shoulders.
Correct he is pushing with his shoulders and keeping his head in place over the keyboard to prevent the piano from tipping. It seems like over half of the internet isn't paying attention. This is why the average person can't move a piano.

the guy filming with his comments have you ever dropped one and it's a long way down
do they have a retirement home for piano movers really guy
Not tips
Those guys moved a grand piano up this guys flawlessly and he didn't tip them? LOL! What a butt sponge!
A good job?? These men seem unexperienced. They have not the dedicate lashing to lift the piano. Uncredible!
Moron.
These days you don't need to lash a piano. Two good Rachetstraps connected to the board and two commercial grade rubber bands holding the lid is sufficient
