Even after all these years this still brings a tear to my eyes. What a beautiful, warm tribute from one dear friend to another! Joe Brown - a true gentleman, and a pioneering British rocker!
You can see Eric fighting back the tears. He and George certainly shared a lot in their friendship, including Patti Boyd, who they both were married to. Eric lost so many people, and it's a wonder he did not die from his heroin and alcohol addictions, and he smoked like a chimney. Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and George. Them and so many others who were a part of his professional and personal life. He had severe depression and he sang at Duane's funeral. He was there for all of their funerals, and that of his child who fell from an open window and died tragically. For a man who embraced the blues and did as much as anyone to promote the blues and all the great artists whose shoulders he stood upon. Eric has played with just about anyone you can think of. His body of work is prodigious, and so consistently, he changed with the times, adapted his style to fit new waves of music, and made it fit. He played with Andrea Bocelli for God's sake. He is the only person inducted 3 times into The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. He was George's friend and he loved him, and you could see his and Danys shared love and pain as they embraced and both struggled to hold back their tears. The English way, keep that stiff upper lip.
Played this at my mums funeral. I had a rule in life. If my mum said she loved a song , I knew it would be great before I even listened to it. This was one of her favourites ❤️
@@koleberdinoch926 she loved god only knows by the beach boys, we have all the time in the world by Louis Armstrong and madly enough one of her favourite songs was ‘ island in the sun’ by weezer

@@karls.6733 I never said he did I'm 75 years old I know when this song was written because it used to play on my grandparents (🤦🏼) record player on 78 RPM. And I repeat George was a wonderful songwriter.
I've always been a huge Beatles fan but only knew this song as an instrumental. Guitarists like Django Reinhardt (who I think the world of) would play it at a much faster tempo, soloing all over it. Never having heard the words before I saw "Concert for George" and oh my God... What Joe Brown on his little ukulele did with it? This is absolute perfection, I couldn't stop crying. It instantly became my favorite version of the song, it's that beautifully done....
I recently learned that one of the guys I went to school with died. I was Facebook friends with him for several years and thoroughly enjoyed his musical talent, interesting posts, caring heart and wicked sense of humor. I'm not entirely sure why but this song makes me think of him. I never had any relationship with him other than a casual friendship on social media and a greeting walking home from the bus stop years ago. Rest easy Bob ... YOU sir will be missed.
My God has it been that long already? Beautiful way to say that your still alive as long as I can dream. Thank's Joe Brown. 75 year old Texan Who misses George, terribly.
Joe Brown was the most underated musician of all the talent,at the Concert for George. He is only well known in Great Britian, but I consider Joe Brown, one of the best performers in the modern history of music. He is a very nice man,and a true British Gentleman that loves to perform for all audiances.
i loved george and as many have said in comments about this concert it was 'magical' i am sure george was pulling the strings from above they could not have finished this with a better song given georges love of ukelele and the lyrics of the song itself sung in typical george harrison style, joes singing so beautiful powerful touching with all that stuff raining down from above..
Because of this song. Joe inspired me to buy and learn the ukulele. Never thought I'd be good with an instrument. But I can play well now and I love it. Thanks joe😊
Just heard this on the radio....... always thought it was neat...... How can anyone not like this it is just excellent, and so glad we can see and HEAR it here.

I first heard this song a few months ago on a replay of the George Harrison tribute concert that took place 21 years ago (that’s hard to believe it’s been that long since we lost him) but ever since I love this song and it never fails to make me tear up remembering all the great people we’ve lost, John Lennon, George Harrison and my beloved kind selfless mother just two years ago. I can’t wait to meet and hug her again. Love you mom ❤❤❤❤❤
😢😢 Magnifique, Poignant 🌟🌟 Regardez Clapton, on dirait un gamin, encore cet air d'enfant , par moments.... il doit avoir tellement de choses qui lui reviennent en tête et dans le cœur !!!
Think the Pythons had a say in placing this as the final performance. Worked beautifully, After all, George was a Beatle who produced Python movies - his sense of the absurd, would have appreciated Joe Brown stealing the glory with his ukulele.

1:26 Eric and Dhani, now that's love. George was smiling from heaven. So many years, joys, tears, and music. I'll sing this in my dreams.
