The Joker (Batman) Lipsync 3D Animation

- This is a personal exercise in facial animation, starring The Joker from the Batman series. It's not entirely finished - when I manage to find enough "free time" to revisit this piece, I want to improve the hair (and make it react to movement), give him properly simulated cloth, and build the model out to include hands. But the main point of this piece was the face itself, so I hope you enjoy it for what it is.
For those that have asked, this was done in 3DS Max. Lipsyncing was done using the technique in Jason Osipa's book, 'Stop Staring'. The book was written for Maya but the technique is easily translated for Max.

I remember watching this when I was a kid and this is still great. I can see this as a movie design.

nice!!! your expresiions and body gestures are really spot on!! i can really tell that he hates batman when he looks away hehe and that laugh in the end was really smooth, lip synch too. Somebodies got a future ahead of them 8D
i love his expression when he says "the cops" gives such a realistic feeling not to mention makes me laugh a crap ton! 5/5 and i want more!!!!

omfg that IS amzing!!! I could replay this all day! i like my Joker though a little less... dork-ish? (The eyebrows and teeth) but this one is somehow adorable, great job! ^^ The movement reminds my of the Shrek style ;)

its great you used the mark hamill voice from the cartoon series, it suits the character lip sync perfectly. just make the smile a little bigger to make him perfect. but that is near perfect already.

Reminde me of "The man Who Laughs", the silent film that inspided both the Joker's look and Freddy Mercury's look on the "slightly Mad" video by Queen.

Love the bit of disgust shown when he mentions "The Batman". But... I don't think that's how the Joker should *look*, honestly.

if you ever watch j and silent bob, pay attention when mark hamill comes out in his character, he does the jokers laugh after his opening dialogue

You should make the nose a little longer and hooked,put darker circles around his eyes, make the teeth a bit more yellow and a bit smaller, andmake his hair something like the animated one or Jack Nicholson's. But hey, that's just my opinion on what the Joker looks like. Overall it was....AWESOME!!!
I think this is VERY well done. I am not nearly as good at facial animating (actually, I haven't really DONE any facial animation yet). And I actually like the license you took with the Joker's appearance, I think it is a very well done re-design of the look. :)
Anyways, am I the only one who is reminded of Syndrome from The Incredibles when I watch this animation? Because for some reason his expressions remind me of Syndrome.

Wait...the Joker is voiced by Mark Hamill? :O I used to watch Batman when I was little, but I NEVER would have guessed it was Mark Hamill behind such a highpitched, insane character and voice. I think I have a newfound respect for Hamill, realizing he's more versatile than I realized. And listening to this clip again, I can totally TELL.

The eyes should be darker, the nose pointer, chin pointer, I don't think his hair looks like that, but the animation, like movement and stuff was amazing!

This was done in 3DS MAX. The model is a simple low-poly mesh, skinned to a biped. The mesh is then turbo-smoothed (as a modifier) and the hair, etc is applied. Then, the face is set up with a series of morph objects, based on the techniques in Jason Osipa's book "Stop Staring" (which is written for Maya, but the techniques translate easily enough into Max).
Reminds me a lot of Depp as the Mad Hatter.
@chickenfool121 this video is well animated and your a fool to say otherwise... true i like the movie-joker more but that's a twist given to the joker character from the batman comics (wich looks more like this) and cartoons. Anyways give this guy some credit for an animation well done ey?

Nice, looks like it could be out of Jimmy Neutron from his expressions at some parts but overall a bit of tweaking and you have some nice Joker action.
I don't like the orange eye shadow, he should have more of a smile, thinner eyebrows and different hair. But that's just the design. The actual animation is exceptional.
