  • Sorry about the editing on this video I’m still very tired from Glastonbury festival!! Anyway let’s push through with a in depth dive into these 2 very different internal elements of a factory makita td173 impact driver and its copy version #impactdriver #goodtool #diy #makita

The logistics of the copy are so remarkable. While the Makita is simply not for sale in a large part of the world, I can find the copy everywhere even in second hand stores. That has to be an achievement for the DTD173z and Makita as a whole: the most widely distributed clone of a tool ever

Cool comparison. One thing I know many CZcamsrs mention the wrong way around: The stator is the fixed part (it's static), the rotor is the rotating part.

When you consider the copy is a fraction of the price, and in most cases will still get the job done, it's an option, specially for a tool you might not use that often or will take places tools tend to walk away from.

Yeah but if you are a professional then the copy is not worth it even though it is pretty good and cheap. You just couldn't rely on it. Better to get the cheapest model of Makita impact (which is still more expensive than this copy).

Some of us accept a certain amount of mimickry, but that's taking the piss passing itself off as an actual Makita branded tool. I have a Katsu brand cordless trim router that is an extremely close copy of the DRT50, but for a lot less money. Unfortunately I don't possess the genuine model to compare properly, but apart from a couple of very slight differences in case shape it looks identical to pictures of the genuine Makita, and certainly works as expected.
