  • Here's a look at each of the scheduled year 4 Ambleside Online books. I prefer to have a physical copy of most all the scheduled reads, but you can also get some of these free online via the links on Ambleside's year 4 website, or find an audiobook to help with the reading.

Hi, thanks for your video. Just wondering if you have got a link for the Shakespeare colouring characters that you mentioned please? Thanks

You should try AO groups next year with your Year 4 & 5

That’s an idea to consider. Do you think that would be good if my current year 4 is already independent? Have you enjoyed groups so far?

I have 3 kids. I started AO doing all 3 together. I personally have loved this. But in the fall I will have a 4th grader, 6th, and 7th. I’m torn on if to continue them together or split them up….especially in history and bible. Any suggestions ?

That’s tough to split if you’ve loved family style learning. Which year did you pick this year to follow for all 3? I’d post this q on the AO Facebook group, because a lot of more experienced users with older kids will chime in with their wisdom. Most people I’ve seen comment seem to say “split” after they are older than about year 4 or 5, even those who do AO groups with younger grades. I think it’s because once they are reading most on their own there isn’t extra burden on you to read so much, and it lets them be more independent. Plus there’s still family combinable subjects like Shakespeare, a read aloud, poetry, etc. But if you’ve loved it maybe your older 2 could do the same books and your younger could be in a lower level. I’d love to hear what others say as we are just one year in using AO and year 4 is my oldest right now.
