- On the eve of the one-year anniversary of a war that few here thought would start, let alone grind on for so long at such cost, here the morning was interrupted by air raid sirens.
President Zelenskyy said that he wanted to meet the Chinese leadership even as Beijing has renewed its vows of friendship with Moscow.
The fighting on the Eastern frontline has intensified in the last 24 hours - and new footage has emerged of the city of Bakhmut, a key Russian target.

According to US military analysis there was no invasion of Kyiv, Russian forces kept the Ukranian army busy defending the major cities while separatist forces, Chechens and volunteers got organised then fought it out with the militia groups in the south east. Russian forces then moved to join them. The day those tanks rolled in and blocked all the highways the Ukranian GDP = 0 and their army was defending Kyiv. Militia groups were cut off and became easier to deal with like what occurred in the battle of Mariupol.
Russians don't fight Blitzkrieg style, it's tricky, slow, methodical and industrial style warfare.
