- The Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary group the Rapid Support Forces have been fighting one another in Sudan for more than a year - devastating much of the country.
Our International Editor Lindsey Hilsum sat down with Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber from the Sudanese Armed Forces and began by asking, whether there is a military solution to the war.

As a sudanese I believe the army is corrupt but the RSF is the direct successor of the Janjaweed so it’s probably better for us to have the army win rather than have the RSF win and have a new Darfur genocide. (i 100% agree with you though.)

RSF had lose a lot of his power and soldiers They are relying on Tribal Mobilization through racist rhetoric directed to other regions and on generous Emirati support through Libya and Chad. In addition, the most suffering from the horrors of war are those who are located in the places of Rapid Support. I understand your point is that a program should be put in place to stop the suffering, but the idea of accepting General Hemeti again is a fantasy and a prelude to a bigger civil war

@@juventus1056 The military was weakened via decades of sanctions and US-backed rebels. Then after the gov was overthrown in 2019 the UAE gave the RSF $9b and Burhan the traitor supported them. So you can't blame the people, it's not at all comparable to the Somali tribal civil war.

I am from Ethiopia and feel really sad to see our countries on fire time and agin. I feel at home when I see the sudansese people here on videos. We are so similar not only in appearance but also behaviours including emotion, warmth, manner of speaking and how we relate to our loved ones. Hope peace will come to our homes sooner than later and those who took our peacefull life will br accountable.

They have advanced in Northern Bahri as well as downtown Bahri near the Khartoum bridges. Will be much quicker than Omdurman since RSF are busy dying in El Fashir and getting killed by villagers in Gezira.

We are all now dealing with the aftermath of that policy. Many Sudanies do not have an appetite to continue down that war path. This war path is costly and can have plenty of long term adverse effects. The idea is to take the energy and time and translate it to work towards building a sustainable economy.
