I noticed the Bob Marley / Banana Splits thing years ago. And Banana Splits came first!

dog of 2 head is a great album, pretty heavy, raw tele rock.i think its the first classic quo album,ma kellys has some good tunes too, take the rockers from ma kellys, scrub a couple from dog,and you have a top album

He's right - Dancing in the Dark does nick the riff from Living By Numbers by New Musik.

One thing that always puzzles me ... from Piledriver on, there was always a "from the makers of" followed by pictograms of the previous releases .... but only going back as far as Dog of Two Head. What about the albums before that? You can't say it was just a Vertigo thing because DOTH was released n Pye.

It was the first album with just the four members (after Roy Lynes left). So the band considered it to be first Album of the "New Heavier" Quo.

Status Quo were marketed as progressive rock by Phonogram. I have it on a inner sleeve for a 1973 UK pressing of Piledriver. Yes on the inner sleeve for Piledriver they are advertising Pilrdriver, amongst all the other albums.
The first pressing of Pilrdriver does not have this inner sleeve but a vertigo one. I have seen this inner sleeve more than once so don't believe it to be a user switching inner sleeves.

Bearing in mind that the term progressive’ was much wider in the early 70s, covering nearly any band that wasn’t commercial pop, even blues-rock acts like the Groundhogs. Led Zeppelin and Free - all would be in ‘progressive’ racks in record shops
