In all seriousness, thanks for another great video. I believe you already taught me about a zero theory in âHow Benjamin Franklin planned his dayâ, and I have heard that the founder of Walmart had a sunset/clean desk policy as well. Tidying up, as you said, to reduce decisions the next day. Would be worth a link to the Ben Franklin video next time you put one out.
Also, on using a phone, Iâve read and heard that, just like alcohol, screen usage can delay GOOD rest, even if you pass out hard. Keep up the great work!
Hi I was wondering if you have a how to pay attention in class video. Decided to reach out to you as quite often in my long classes (3 hours long) I tend to lose focus and daydream and fight it hard to get back to following the lesson content
My night routine:
- Darken my room as much as possible
- Set my alarm
- Read (30 min)
- Brush my teeth
- Clean my room/Charge electronics/lay out my clothes
- Journal (short summary of the day; one idea; something i liked about today; something i learned; track habits/mood; something i could have done better; random creative stuff)
Wow Nice
@@Guilherme_Eu_Mesmo that's optional and not that important. I will recommend you to SKIP that step.

âą Figure out what time to go to bed.
âą Set an alarm for the next morning (Where you ideally don't wake up in the middle of deep sleep).
âą Set an alarm for 1 hour before you want to go to bed.
âą Give yourself 10 more minutes after that alarm to let yourself get whatever work you were doing done.
âą Don't be on a screen an hour before bed.
âą Take 15 minutes to "reset your living space" e.g. do the dishes, pack your bag, pick out your clothes for the next day etc...
âą Review how your day went (What habits you did etc...) for 15 minutes e.g. write in a diary etc..
âą Take 5 minutes to brush your teeth etc...
âą Take 15 minutes to stretch, do yoga, read a fiction book etc...
Hope this helps anyone who sees it and have a great day :)
Many thanks
thank you so much!!
Thanks, I needed exactly this sort of summary to get a top-down review and really remember the things!
Thank you!
Lately I've been so obsessed with improving my morning routine. I think we view nightly routines as uninspiring, since we're basically just preparing for sleep. Obvious things like caffeine are a no no late at night, but I loved your idea of creating a "wind down alarm" as a reminder to finish up any tasks were currently doing and to not start any new ones. Well done!
Improving your morning routine is so important Derek! It sets your vibe for the whole day :)
Yep, the idea of a go to sleep alarm is genius! I even stopped the video to create one of my own
@@francesconotarianni3587 you know what... I'm going to do that right now! haha
I don't know if I'm just weird but caffeine helps me go to sleep I don't know why it wakes everybody else up

Have been watching your videos since O levels. Rooting for you to reach that 2 million count. Your videos have been honestly a stress reliever/motivator through my academic journey/general productivity efforts. Stay blessed. May He guide you in your tough times and grant you the light just as the good you have done for many others. Amen.
tom, i've been watching your videos for years now and besides the admirable crazy amount of research you pour into making those - what makes them amazing is that they're so fun to watch
that intro to the video got me totally hooked. it feels like i'm watching a movie.
we already know what the video's going to be about because it has a title and yet, your intro was so interesting and got us hoping for more.
it's amazing how your uploaded videos never been bad but they keep getting better.

@Angelo Wilson It is greeting yourself in your mind. U imagine meeting the same you when you close ur eyes and say to the projection "Hi how are you how do you do?" Or so.
@Angelo Wilson it helps to appreciate your self. Motivates and encourages because of the feedback.
@Angelo Wilson I am so sorry Angelo, I was just trolling back then heheh.
The true meaning of gratitude is like a meditation where you thank for everything. Given a life, given a family, given anything. When your mind wander into things that you didn't possess think of another that you possess and the other unfortunate people don't.
"Self-gratitude"
Huh, never heard such a polite term for jerking it. Good time estimate as well.
So close to 2 million! Early congrats Thomas!
Okay, why aren't we talking about "So maybe that one doesn't apply right now but hey, one can dream, right? "

Wow Nicaragua! That sounds so awesome. What are the best things to see/do there?
This video came at the right time for me. I know I need to change up my night routine. And this gave me a nodge in the right direction. Thank you Thomas!
Thanks so much Thomas! Iâve recently been working on my morning and night routines and Iâve been wondering what I could do at night besides âno screensâ and writing in my planner. I really like the idea of resetting my workspace because right now my studio and bed share a room so waking up and seeing everything organized should definitely help me avoid distractions the next day!
Love your new setup, the lighting looks so good! Very inspiring to see how your video production is progressing over time.

My wind-down alarm is also my "shut down phone" alarm! This helped me a lot to get out of a bad habit I had of staying on my phone for nearly an hour after laying down in bed to sleep.
Loved the beginning of the video đ
Good one
You're awesome! Just AWESOOOOOOME!
I love the concept of mise-en-pace, I practically destroy my desk while I'm doing homework and the mess stresses me out, leading to a bigger mess. I'm definitely gonna try this routine next week!

Ehy Thom, great video as usual.

Thanks again, big hug from Italy
I was literally talking to my friend about how I've had trouble falling asleep lately. This came just in time. Thanks Thomas!
There's another solution - wake up early the next day or have a super busy day (or both). When bedtime comes, you will doze off like a baby. I do this sometimes when I'm having troubles falling asleep. Usually is after a lazy day.
@@FearlessDreams 100% appreciate the input. However, I wake up before 6 am every morning the entire day I am busy either developing software or starting up my business. So a lazy day definitely is t the issue đ
@@FearlessDreams my issue is that my brain is still in work mode so it just churns out ideas to solve issues Iâm facing so I jump out of bed write it in my notebook and jump back in about 5 times
@@geopopos dude!!! I also have nights like this, but you know what? I embrace them. I think this is the most important thing for every creator/business person - ideas and letting them fly. I'd take creativity over good sleep every day of the week. Sooner or later I will be tired enough and without ideas to fall asleep like a baby. :D
@@FearlessDreams I actually used to be the same way! However, I realized in starting a business the most important factor is consistency. If Iâm not well rested I donât perform as well. Sleep is your number 1 asset as an entrepreneur!
my night routine is somewhat like this (more or less) :
1) cleaning the room
2) taking any meds, filling bottles, preparing workout material for the morning after
3) planning the day ahead and also checking what all habits i checked off today (notion!!!)
4) watch some youtube (as a reward but not something "funny" just self-development type) + reviewing the day through journaling
5) doing some guided meditation in order to fall asleep in minutes
and i drink a lot of water while doing all this
this obviously fails sometimes mostly when the meditation fails to calm me down and other times when i get lost on youtube cuz thats quiet likely to happen but u need to stop urself- do what we do scooby doo \00/
[and yeah this is part of the night time routine~ that is, watching this video
1.99M subs! So excited for you to reach 2M cause you're amazing!
I've also been using a wind down alarm for years now. There've been times when it worked better and times when it didn't work so well. In general I feel better the next day when I follow a wind down routine.
Thanks
