The constitution actually states that the federal government can only own land in territories.. once the territory becomes a state, all federal land becomes state land …. They get around it by making the transfer process take forever

Possession is 9/10ths of the law, and Idaho possesses the land. In fact, you also need to raise Sheriff's Posse to guard the build site with orders to not allow any contractor to enter.

Why are "Federal Lands" still federally controlled some hundred years after statehood? These lands should be auctioned off to private ownership, with the twin purposes of reducing the federal debt and providing tax revenues to the individual states.
No more fed ownership on lands unless required for military defense.
No we should barely even have a standing military at. It's resulted in countless unneeded wars and escalations. And if that were the case, they would simply state that whatever land they want for whatever reason is "totally required for military defense"
