My father knew Will Sampson during the Vietnam era. My dad was in the Marine Corps and between tours he was stationed in San Diego. Sampson also hung out with Jay Silverheels (Tonto). My dad (who was Northern Arapaho, as am I) told me of a time when he went to Los Angeles and Sampson got him a part as an extra in a movie, where he was with a group of other extras, all Arabs, riding over a sand dune on a soundstage. My dad said they got $15 a day, which was pretty good for the mid-60s. I asked him what movie it was and he coudln't remember. I thought it might be Lawrence of Arabia, but that came out in 1962. Anyway, he said they did multiple takes, but they would all switch costumes, head pieces that included a turban with a beard attached and do it again; the purpose being so it would look like there were a lot more in the group than there really was. He said they partied a lot back then and he learned not to bring any women close to Silverheels, as he'd steal them away every time. My dad didn't have a very vivid imagination so I have no doubt that this really happened, or something close to it.

This is the first time I've heard of this urban legend. The tragic passing of Heather actually struck me quite profoundly because I, myself, was diagnosed with Chron's when I was seven back in 82. Fortunately it wasn't a misdiagnosis, but it had compounded a lactose intolerance that was only discovered literally days before I nearly died of internal blood loss (20+ inches of small intestine had to be removed because of irreversible scarring). This was in Utah, and apparently I was the youngest case of Chron's in the state at the time and was on the operating table for over 4 hours. Scary stuff. My single mother was made of some seriously strong stuff back then and will forever be my hero
Julian Beck was diagnosed with stomach cancer back in late 1983 well before production of poltergeist 2 started. plus i remember a local film critic was reviewing 3 & he said the movie was so bad that after one of the actors asked "where's carol ann"? someone in the theater yelled out "she is in the other theater watching top gun" to which half the theater laughed
There is NO WAY IN HELL I’d EVER have that freaky a** clown doll in my house 😳🤡 but it’s also the reason I DO NOT like clowns in the first place lmaooo 😂 ….. I was 8 years old when Poltergeist came out and of course my mom wouldn’t let me watch it, but me being me , I hid behind a chair one night while she was watching it, she thought I was asleep, and of course it scared THE LIVING S*** out of me and gave me nightmares and a clown phobia lol … now it’s one of my favorite movies of all time 😅 but yea, there’s no way that thing would come in my house ! AND YOUR’RE SLEEPING UNDER A FREDDY KRUGER COMFORTER !!!??? 😱😱😱 NOPE AND NOPE ! You’re a brave one Minty ! 😂
I love all these films, Heather was a brilliant actress. I especially love the 1st though as I got a bigger bedroom with a toy cupboard as my 12 yr old brother didn't like the tree that tapped on the window. Great video as always 😊🐾💜👋👍
Yes I've heard that Myth/curse story for Years and like that actress Zelda said its All "Crap"....lol 😅!! Now I have to watch that Curse Documentary about certain films with curses I'm a little curious Now. Great Job Mr. Minty, Until Next Time.
Yeah it's like the story of the omen being cursed or the exorcist. Most of the time its just concidence or natural phenomenon. Beck was really ill and wanted to leave some money to his family, Sampson died from complications due to alcohol similar to how the chief's dad died in the novel that the one flew over the cuckoo's nest is based on. For Heather, she might have had that blockage for a while and as for poor Dominique, her boyfriend was psycho and we don't know how long he kept sending her creepy packages.
I was too little to see this movie in theaters, but when watching it on tv, I love this film, but it is tragic what happened to the lives of some of the cast!! 😢
I'm not freaking out because Minty is going to bed with a replica of the Poltergeist clown doll, I'm freaking out because clowns scare the shizz out of me!😮😨🤦♀️
You know, if they had shown the respect those skeletons deserved by putting their names in the credits... All this could have been avoided.... Change my mind....😜
They're HERE GOOD movie. Love Steven Spielberg. Thx for the vid Minty. Poltergeist is one of my all time faves. The FX are outdated but still the movie still holds up today. 😊😊😊
Another fun fact, the house used for the exterior, located in North ridge CA, in 1994, when the earthquakes happen, it was damaged severely in the earthquake. Loosing its chimney, and damaging the driveway and stairs near it. With the houses around it including the ET house with very minimum damage.
I remember reading that those same skeletons used in Poltergeist were used in Raiders of the Lost Ark first. Back then, it was apparently standard procedure. Yeah, definitely a bit creepy.
😮 that clown scared the hell out of me when I was a little kid in the 80s . For sure it’s why I started to have nightmares of some clown and witch dolls my mom had at the time 😵💫 Great Video !!! 😂
I remember as a kid watching that movie around, maybe 630. Right after supper or so. My bedtime was 9 back then. And sure enough. That clown got me in a nightmare before 10. Bet any 7 year old would've had the same thing. Just like having a crush on Heather. I still get sad about what happened to her. She was only a few months older then me. Even that main theme song has so much emotional attachment that it kinda hurts to hear it. Even all these years later. It's just one hell of an emotional movie as it jumps all over the place. I know what will happen when I watch any of them. I end up watching all 3 in a row.
If indeed there is a curse, why do the directors always live long happy lives? Even the Little Rascals short films had a supposed curse and Hal Roache lived to be 99.
I never knew that Gary Sherman was a pallbearer for Heather, that’s both touching and heartbreaking. Also if this series is cursed it’s because Spielberg sacrificed it for E.T.’s success
I really enjoyed the third poltergeist because of Heather O'Rourke performance. She was very ill and in pain during filming and kept going. She was just great in that one. Fun video Minty!
Still, after all these years, the one scene that freaks me out the most, is that white furry thing that roars at Diane, the mother, in the hallway scene!!! Tbh, the clown never scared me, just the white furry thing. Oh, & the roaring face that lunges at Stephen, the dad, in that one scene, near the end! Scary!!
So yeah--using real skeletons on a Huge Hollywood production that Highlights Spiritual Upset CAN generate the proper "frequencies" required to generate "A Curse," whereas those same skeletons might not even be disturbed by being employed on a "B" Horror Movie (less people, less money, less interest, less INTENT). Same for being used in a movies with less of a "charged theme." Generally, the energies in question--once evoked--will linger around people connected to the project, and if they have Issues that these "negativities" can exacerbate to feed on, then things that might have been "simply bad" CAN become tragic. It would not shock me in the slightest if one of these creatures spotted the troubles Ms. Dunne was experiencing in her personal life and hopped onboard to see what it could "make worse." Same for the misdiagnoses of Heather. No, these spirits did not CAUSE any of these tragedies, as such, but I wonder if THE LUCK of both of these girls might not have been substantially improved if the Remains of REAL Dead People hadn't been used as a cost-cutting measure. Even in Death, even with Curses, it's always, somehow, about fucking Money..._
Grave Secrets: "The Legacy of Hilltop Drive" (1992 TV Movie) Starring Patty Duke and David Soul...[basically based on a true story...exactly the same theme as Poltergeist with the housing estate being built on a cemetary]....
I LOVE the first Poltergeist movie. I really like the second movie with the introduction of Rev. Kane. The third movie has a place in my heart because it’s set in Chicago, and I live here.
I'm not doubting that there was spiritual unrest and activity during the making of the first two movies, especially since it's come out that real skeletons were used to terrorize Jo Beth Williams' character in the mud pool. I also don't doubt that the upset/angry spirits were appeased and put to rest by Will Sampson performing a ritual for them. There have been other movies that have had issues brought on by props, how the ghostly subject matter was handled, and misuse of items not meant to be toyed with. I can't discount how strange and incredible how many cast members alone have died while making, or shortly after making these movies. Look at the first/original Omen movie. There were a few very strange deaths surrounding people involved in making that movie, with at least one mirroring one of the shocking deaths FROM the movie.
Minty is doing a video about the Poltergeist Curse with the clown doll in his house? Brave man.
He’s got the hall light on at least.
He also has a proton pack and a trap. He ain’t afraid of no ghosts!

During filming, several accidents and strange occurrences took place:
1) The test firing of a fake Stinger missile resulting in the prop flying

injuring a technician that was working on a telephone pole.
2) Timothy Dalton drove a tanker

I never knew that Gary Sherman was a pallbearer for Heather, that’s both touching and heartbreaking. Also if this series is cursed it’s because Spielberg sacrificed it for E.T.’s success
That Pac-Man arcade machine is more dangerous than that Poltergeist clown doll. Because it could short out and start a fire.
Two years for straight up murder?!?!? WTF?
I like the clown doll. I am hoping to find a place that can make a replica Annabelle doll from the films.
Keep up the awesome work, Minty!
I think The Omen and The Exorcist also have similar 'curses'. People love attaching such things to supernatural horror films.
Scary!!
Great video Minty, would appreciate if you explore more urban legends 😊
So yeah--using real skeletons on a Huge Hollywood production that Highlights Spiritual Upset CAN generate the proper "frequencies" required to generate "A Curse," whereas those same skeletons might not even be disturbed by being employed on a "B" Horror Movie (less people, less money, less interest, less INTENT). Same for being used in a movies with less of a "charged theme."
Generally, the energies in question--once evoked--will linger around people connected to the project, and if they have Issues that these "negativities" can exacerbate to feed on, then things that might have been "simply bad" CAN become tragic.
I’m loving the weird tales series ❤
When I was a child I was told Heather passed because of a hole in her heart 🤔
Another Great Video Minty !!!
Obviously that clown remembered what happened Scary Movie 2 and was still traumatized by Uncle Ray Ray
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Damn poltergeist memorabilia on point!!! Down to a vintage captain America!!! Double points!!! Mintys the man!!!
You want night terrors? That's how you get night terrors.
Grave Secrets: "The Legacy of Hilltop Drive" (1992 TV Movie) Starring Patty Duke and David Soul...[basically based on a true story...exactly the same theme as Poltergeist with the housing estate being built on a cemetary]....
How many of you were waiting for a jump scare when Minty had the clown in the bedroom?
Really enjoying your channel keep up the great job 👍👍👍
What a cozy room!!
I like these weird tales videos
Loved it 😍.
I LOVE the first Poltergeist movie. I really like the second movie with the introduction of Rev. Kane. The third movie has a place in my heart because it’s set in Chicago, and I live here.
I totally forgot that Heather passed away 😢 She could have continued on to become a wonderful actress, if she had chosen to do so. Such a tragedy
Minty sleeping in his room with the Poltergeist clowndoll and tv along with Freddy Krueger only proves how brave he is.
I remember watching this video a while back. I especially remember the clown part. Still a great video.
@evilraskel5569, yeah, this is definitely a re- upload, as I remember seeing it before, too.
ooh man i Love weird tales of pop culture!
Blood-chilling! 😮
Ask Spielberg what happened to Orourke.
